South Hills coach Steve Bogan considering his options, speaks with Maranatha
South Hills football coach Steve Bogan is considering the possibility of coaching at Maranatha, but nothing has gone further than a conversation between both parties. There are plenty of factors that play in for both sides, but there is nothing more we can share at the moment. Obviously this would be an absolute steal and great hire for Maranatha, but nothing is imminent. Giving coach Bogan's strong Christian background, it's not a surprise the two sides have talked.

Red Barron is right!
Ayala's powerhouse football program should be elevated to the PAC 5. They were awesome in 2010. That talent rich team is ready for another strong 1 - 9 season in 2011! Good Luck against Los Altos...!
Ayala Soccer: 5 - 13 - 3....Ooooh!
Looks like Ayala Football and Ayala Futbol are the powerhouses of the 2011 Sierra League...!
And lets not forget the empty backfield and defensive line of Chino Hills. They will be a tough team for CO, Claremont and SHHS to beat...!!!
Chino Hills Soccer: 9 - 10 - 1...Tremendous talent pool! Making the Sierra League proud!
Yeah...everybody else is really dragging down the Huskies and the Dogs...!
I have saved your posting Red Barron...I'll be around in November! Just ask the BishopNation...!
Oldtimer,
Email me tskfe2@hotmail.com ...Us Wiki Leaks staff would like to speak with you.
Just saying, really dissappointed with the talent SH has brought to the table in FB and BB so far in the Sierra League. But then again, we can say the same with Claremont or CO. It's one thing to blame the coaches, admin or parents, but when you come into a league carrying all these championship banners and end up at the bottom of standings, maybe its not the above mentioned, maybe its the talent pool? I just hope that those schools can pick it up, because it will only drag the league down. Or maybe CH and Ayala need to change leagues??
Way to go Fred, glad you sensored my post and deleted it. Figures when someone speaks the truth you basically delete everything.
They won't be good next year? They weren't good this year!
It's not easy replacing the best player on the team and 3 excellent lineman such as Aiono, Nonu and Vargas. Many would say it is the fact that they will not be that great next year, but I'm 100% positive the $$$ is much more at Marantha! Why would anyone decline a raise? Nobody in this economy would say NO to a raise, especially a high school teacher.
It would be a great move for a great coach. The environment at Maranatha, the campus and the support system is the perfect place and he might be the perfect coach to help make them next Oaks Christian. It would be great for a him to be in a Christian environment where he can have a spiritual impact on young kids lives as well as their football futures.
Double Douche,
Don't talk crap about Reed from afar, confront him like a man if you have a problem with him PU$$. Ever since my oldest brother started out at SH in 79 they have never come close to making a championship run in BB. SH has NEVER EVER been known as a BB school.
Who would bring up Reed in this discussion?! He has nothing to do with the monstrosity that was the old regime. The old regime is out and Bogan can't handle it. Bogan might as well go to a new school when there's a new principal.
To I Agree: " Let me think. Do I want your dumb-ass respect or a well deserved raise, in a class environment, without cowards slamming me in the blogs all the time.Boy that is a tough one".
Is Reed the basketball coach and AD? If so, he looks like a shop teacher or an auto shop teacher and doesn't know SHeeeeat about basketball. He has a quality basketball man on the bench with him in Sullivan, but apparently he has had his tongue and spine removed. the head coach is all about picking up that extra coaching stipend and because he is the boss (AD) he gets to double dip. The administration should whack him out and get a real basketball coach in there. As for Bog, I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. What you are failing to realize is that, maybe it is possible that Maranatha comes up with Gano money which is a game changer. Let me see, get 6 figures to coach or take the 5,000 or whatever it is well below 10K stipend? no brainer..
I agree with "respect", Bogan is jumping ship. He wouldn't stay if he knows he can't win. I am only hoping Reed follows him, it's time for some new energy and enthusiasm at SHHS in both sports.
Bogan is a very smart guy. He knows that he can't compete without geting the premier athletes to transfer in. I have no respect for a coach that wants to leave now that he doesn't have a good team. Sack up and win with YOUR players.
Bogan has been coaching at South Hills since 1985. I'm not sure when he began *teaching* but it's safe to say he has 20 yrs in and eligible for some retirement. I know many teachers who have taken and collected their retirement money and turned around to give back and teach at a private school - even at a much lesser salary. This ability to "double-dip" is really an appealing option to coaches/teachers who may want a change of scenery - or to coach at a school faith-based school.
Good luck to Steve. It'd be a great way to add a new chapter to his life/career
