Visiting Etiwanda rallied from a 24-22 halftime deficit to secure at least a share of the Baseline league title with a for a 53-42 win over Glendora High School on Tuesday night. Etiwanda opened the third quarter with a 10-0 run spurred on by eight points from senior Byron Wesley. The USC commit opened the quarter with a 3-pointer to give Etiwanda a 25-24 advantage and, following another Etiwanda three, Wesley scored on consecutive possessions to put the Eagles up 32-24 with 4:50 to play in the quarter.

Glendora sophomore Nick Colletta responded with a 3-pointer and a fast-break layup to cut the deficit to three points, but the Tartans would no closer in the second half. Etiwanda closed out the quarter with a 7-1 run that put the Eagles up 39-30 heading into the fourth.
"Let's give them credit, they're a great team," Glendora coach Mike LeDuc said of Etiwanda. "We had to play a game where we made very few, if no, mistakes and we had to shoot very well, and I thought we did that for about 26 minutes.
"We did play pretty well and shot pretty good, but there was that six-minute stretch where we didn't make very many shots and we made some mistakes," coach LeDuc said. You know when you're playing a good team that's always gonna come back to bite you."
Glendora led 9-5 following a Colletta jumper with 3:22 to play in the first quarter. Etiwanda answered, though, with seven consecutive points, capped off by a Wesley jumper. Glendora senior Michael Doering hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 14. Wesley finished with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Etiwanda opened the second quarter with six consecutive points, four by Wesley. Glendora closed the half with eight consecutive points, including five from Colletta, who finished with a game-high 20 points.
"The zone really slowed us down in the first half, and we were settling for jump shots that we didn't have to settle for," Etiwanda coach Dave Kleckner said.
"We wanted to get a little more ball movement and inside touches, and I thought we did a good job of attacking and getting the ball inside a little bit better in the second half instead of settling for perimeter shots."
The Eagles improved to 23-1 overall, 7-0 in league. The Tartans, second in the Baseline, dropped to 19-5 and 4-3 in league.
"We knew coming in here this was the game for them. They certainly didn't want to get their third loss in league," Kleckner said. "We told the kids they were gonna play hard, that these kids are tough, hard-nosed kids who were disciplined and well-coached.
"We talked about it before the game, and so we wanted to match their level of intensity. When you have kids who can shoot the ball like (Glendora), they're a scary team to play against," Kleckner said of the Tartans."
Late in the fourth quarter, with Glendora trailing by nine, the Eagles used up nearly all of the shot clock before Tyler Lacour found Wesley for a one-handed slam with 1:16 to play in the fourth.
"I think we keep getting better, we're growing and learning, and we've been playing pretty well, so I'm pleased with our growth and development," LeDuc said. "I thought we controlled the tempo of the game. The tempo was one we really liked." Said Etiwanda coach Kleckner said of Glendora,"Credit to Glendora," Kleckner said. "The program has such a strong tradition, and it's obvious that it's that way because of coach LeDuc."
