Baseball: Only Damien wearing green after Sierra League opening win over South Hills

Sierra: Damien too much for South Hills: Both teams wore green but only Damien High School got to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a win. Senior left-hander Antonio Gonzales pitched a complete game and the Spartans (3-3) beat South Hills, 7-4, in Thursday’s Sierra League opener for both teams.
“We preach to our starters that it is their seven innings,” Spartans coach Al Leyva said. “We tell them it’s your job unless you want to give it up to the closer. He (Gonzales) threw 94 pitches and was still throwing at 84 (mph) at the end.”
