Softball: Jackie Wagner movs down South, 2-0; Big upset of the day, Los Altos over Bonita 4-2

Arroyo strong: Arroyo High School softball pitcher Jackie Wagner claims she isn’t fully recovered from offseason wrist surgery, but the junior pitched a two-hit shutout Friday, putting her team within one victory of the Mission Valley League title. The Knights scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and that was enough for Wagner in a 2-0 victory over five-time defending champion South El Monte.

Upset: Trailing 2-1, Los Altos scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and pitcher’ Jennipher Solis went the distance in the Coquerors’ 4-2 win over Bonita, knocking of Division 2s top-ranked team. Not only did the Conqs spoil Courtney Gano’s return, they knocked the Bearcats out of first in the Hacienda with their second league loss. West Covina’s only loss was to Bonita, and the rematch is Friday at Bonita.
