Baseball Rankings: Gang Green still tops our poll

1. Bonita (19-4) — Ended a great week of beating Amat and Diamond Bar with a loss to Los Altos. They’re still ranked No. 1 in D-3, but only a one-game lead in the Hacienda with four to play. Will they close strong?
2. Bishop Amat (21-4) — After losing twice last week, the Lancers can forget the National Rankings and focus on Division 4, where they’re ranked second behind Palm Desert.
3. South Hills (17-4) — They needed a sweep over Chino Hills to take over first in the Sierra, but got a split instead, and remain a game back. Big picture-wise, they’re No. 10 in D-2.
4. Glendora (13-6-1) — The Tartans have a one game lead in the Baseline with four left, two against Upland and Alta Loma, both of who are 5-4 in league. Couldn’t ask for a better situation down the stretch to close it out.
5. Chino Hills (14-7) — They lost to Diamond Ranch in a nonleague game, but seem to get the job done when it matters, in league.
6. Sierra Vista (17-3) — What’s it take to get a ranking in Division 5? The Dons have the second fewest losses of anyone in the Division, but can’t crack the top ten. You’ve got teams like Hemet ranked with nine losses, what gives?
7. Diamond Bar (13-10) – They’re 0-2 against Bonita and 7-0 against the rest of the Hacienda. Sooner or later, the Brahmas have to win games that matter.
8. Los Altos (14-9) — They will be the type of third or fourth place team nobody is going to want to face in the playoffs. Anytime you have an undefeated pitcher like Kyle Peck (6-0), you’ve got a shot. Just ask Bonita.
9. San Dimas (16-8-1) — The Saints have a one game lead over Covina, who they will play next week. The last thing they want is to lose today to Northview, an old nemesis.
10. Damien (11-11) — Still in third in the Sierra with a 6-5 overall record, plus they beat La Puente twice last week, one of which was 10-0. The Warriors wanted a step-up game, but careful what you wish for.
