Softball Rankings: Despite loss, Bishop Amat still No. 1; Diamond Bar, San Dimas move up

1. Bishop Amat (21-3) — So, Amat dropped a game to St. Joseph’s last week. Still, not enough to drop them from our top spot. If they play Bonita head-to-head, Amat wins.
2. Bonita (20-4) – Earned huge win over West Covina, giving the Bearcats (8-2), Diamond Bar (8-2) and West Covina (7-2) all two losses in the Hacienda going into the final week. Diamond Bar finishes with West Covina on Friday while Bonita has the luxury of going through Rowland and Diamond Ranch, and if they win out, will get the top seed over whoever they finish tied with.
3. Chino Hills (20-5) — The Huskies lead South Hills by a game with two left against Ayala. Ayala needs to win at least one to remain in third.
4. South Hills (16-6) — If the Huskies sweep Charter Oak, they’ve got a shot at tying for first. But sweeping Charter Oak, maybe the most unpredictable team, will not be easy.
5. West Covina (15-6) — The Bulldogs were great in the big games last year, especially against South Hills. This year not so much, losing twice to Bonita, which is going to cost them the league title.
6. San Dimas (18-7) — Looks like they will be the only area team to go undefeated in league. Say this about the Saints, they don’t rebuild, they keep reloading
7. Diamond Bar (13-9) — You have to give Brahmas coach Roberta Garcia-Uyemura a lot of credit for keeping her team in the Hacienda League race. Now let’s see how they finish.
8. Los Altos (13-6) – The Conquerors are fortunate the Hacienda sends four teams to the playoffs, because fourth is where they will finish.
9. Duarte (17-3) — Suffered a rare league loss to Azusa, who almost beat them the first time. Still, three losses is three losses. On paper, it looks great.

10. Arroyo (14-6) — Went 12-1 in the MIssion Valley League to win the league title. However, like the Montview, the MVL isn’t that strong.

Fred” If they play Bonita head-to-head Amat wins”

Thats what the baseball team thought Lol………

  • Get Real

Didn’t South Hills hammered Bonita? Chino Hills and South Hills can make a case to be ranked over Bonita.

  • 888

And 10-13 Charter Oak hammered South Hills Lol..

  • shfan

Trust me. That is not what South Hills is about. That game seas a total fluke and you know it.

  • 888

You can say the same for the bonita south hills game that was their 6th game in four days and the freshmen throwing all. Thats a different game today and you know it.

    shfan
I guess the Northview game was a fluke too?

  • nvdad

For the record northview considers bishop amat overrated. A 1-1 game in the seventh against a tiny little valle vista team.

  • and1

    Fred,
Duarte owns a loss to wilson are you kidding me? all the sub par teams from the Sierra and Hacienda would put a whooping on them. Seriously do you think Duarte would beat Glendora or St Lucy’s please do us a favor stop and playing politics.

Where is Northview on this list? What is Northviews record again? I don’t see them on the list? Does the list scroll down to 11-100? Maybe my scroll DOWN wheel isn’t working? Maybe they’re underrated? Still scrolling

  • just askin’

so wait? Amat beats NV 2-1 and it’s a terrible performance but Bonita beat Amat in baseball and it’s an earth shattering victory that mandates who’s #1?

  • weakvallevista

    Just askin’

Good Job Derf.

After some corrections I was able to make what you meant, But the fact still stands that they lost to the Saints and on this Thursday they will probably lose again to the Saints, Sorry but it’s a fact? Covina does not have it and their record reflects that. And not to mention you are in a weak league anyway.

  • SoftballMom

I can’t wait until next year when Bonita has no defense….THEN everyone will see that all Anissa Sanchez has is a fastball out….that’s not going to get very far.

    Oh…and CIF…forgot about that…PING…PING…PING…

Can we PLEASE stop talking about Bonita?

  • K’s

League’s strikeout leaders according to maxpreps – top three from each league, no names, just numbers:

    Sierra
    111
    105
    83

    Del Rey
    117
    89
    65

    Baseline
    89
    59
    23

    Hacienda
    83
    61
    59

    Valle Vista
    38
    37
    32

    Interesting numbers

  • easy!

    Simple explanation:
The baseline and hacienda have more hitters as do most division I and II’s. The sierra and del rey division III have good pitchers but less hitters. The valle vista has no pitching.

Bad thing about Maxpreps, You turn in stats they don’t question non league “scrimmage” or pre-league games. You can play 12 games before season in weak tourneys against weak teams to pad your stats and you look great on paper. Look at the comparisons for upcoming games on their site it shows for example: Claremont is on paper supposed to be St Lucy’s 6-3 but we all know that’s not gonna happen. Since they have lost every time they have played SL, This is based on RS & RA’s and Averages, Not to take away anything from Claremont, There have put up big numbers against great teams but again like K’s said Just numbers!

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Aside from a “good” freshman pitcher at Bonita, who else is there in the Hacienda…….nobody. I don’t think the West Covina pitcher pitches on her travel team. The Diamond Bar pitcher got bombed in the Sierra last year. Just saying…..

  • easy!

    wishful thinking,

Dekota pitched very well for west covina this year she pitched good enough to beat el segundo, pomona catholic, La serna and sunny hills take into account the 2-1 loss to la canada I say she’s done an amazing job sierra league or not. You have to remember the diamond bar pitcher is a sophomore now bigger stronger faster. Jen Solis at Los Altos throws pretty good to, you keep pumping the sierra league up like its some super tough league I think its overrated. Last year the sierra had JHall and glendora in the league this year your missing some stars and some pitchers recovering from injuries add 3feet to the mix nah! not so tough as proof in their out of league records.

  • wishful thinking

    Easy!,
Hmmm, Sierra overrated? West Covina lost the Charter Oak, the Sierra League’s 5th place team. You also forgot to mention your loss to Northview and weak Fullerton.

  • easy!

    wishful thinking
and your second place team lost to Northview(valle vista) so whats your point?
