Always nice to hear circulation for the paper and online continue to grow
"No matter how you look at it, our readership is on the rise," said Steve Lambert, editor and publisher of the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group. "We're proud of the gains we've made on the newspaper side of the business, and see tremendous opportunity in the years ahead in the multimedia arena."
Story: The San Gabriel Valley Tribune continues to post increases in daily and Sunday circulation, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations' six-month Fas-Fax report released Tuesday. For the period ending March 31, the Tribune's daily circulation rose to 36,163, up 121 from the comparable period a year earlier. Sunday circulation climbed to 38,963, up 59 from a year earlier.
The Tribune's sister papers - the Pasadena Star-News and the Whittier Daily News - also grew circulation. The Star-News rose to 25,530 daily, up 121, and 27,988 Sunday, up 557. The Daily News grew by 682 daily, to 14,811, and 646 Sunday, to 15,360. In addition, latest numbers show continued web traffic growth at sgvtribune.com, pasadenastarnews.com, and whittierdailynews.com - to an average 1.4 million monthly unique visitors and 5.3 million monthly page views. The newspapers also have nearly 25,000 subscribers to online e-editions.

The writers and the bloggers make this the best blog for high school sports.
I live in Washington, there are good programs here, but the media coverage sucks. I've asked the writers to take a look at this blog in hopes of them starting something similar...no luck. That is why I'll continue reading my home town news paper online.
Keep up the good work, writers, bloggers and athlete's, without you there is no blog!!
I agree with you here Joe, but more importantly, it's nice to see that our local paper has been able to increase paid circulation as well as they have.
One question though. As a general rule, I always buy my paper at a news stand if only because I don't have time to read it at home every day.
So how does that all fit in with your revenue stream anyway ?
Also, I usually i'll get the paper if i'm going out for breakfast or a cup of coffee that day and have often wondered if that is really where you bread and butter's at ?
Anyway, like I posted earlier, it was nice to have seen Steve driving around with a brand new car. Goes to show you that things are really starting to look good over at the Trib, and I'm happy to say that maybe, it's all because of these blogs ?
Another thing I wanted to commend the Trib on is the E-Edition. It enables me to grab a little here and there online, without needing to bring out the fishwrap.
And in case readers didn't know ... it's available FREE to educators! Nothin' better than that!
Freddie,
Great job to you and the guy as well as all (most?) who post here.
I do wish the readers of this blog, especially those in schools that don't get a lot of front page coverage and those from minor sports, would take advantage of this place as an avenue to get their stories out. The Girl's volleyball community has done that very well.
When Aram started this he said "This blog is my blog, this blog is your blog ..." It needs to be understood this isn't a NEWS site. It's a place you've generously given us to get out thoughts and stories out. If someone doesn't like what they're getting they need to give it to us.
If we can disagree without being disagreeable and leave the garbage out (you know who I'm talking to), it's a great place to visit, discuss and learn.
Thanks - and congrats
In addition to regular newspaper sales, the "E" edition is the best source for online news, I believe it's something like $65 for the whole year. You should look at the demo on the Tribune home page, you basically read the paper online just as you would with the paper in your hand. You look at the front page how it appears in the paper and click on the story you want to read. For sports purposes, you can click on the TV schedule, you can click on our high school boxscore page and view all the games.
Reality, for once I agree with you, the commenters are what separate this blog from other prep blogs. It's obviously much appreciated.
Those of us in the Inland Valley who are stuck with CLAY FOWLER giving us our Prep Sports updates can appreciate the hard work that Fred and Aram put in. We get on average about 2 updates per week, and those are generally old news. CLAY is WORTHLESS!!!
Keep up the good work....
Hey about some love for the bloggers that cotinue to keep these topics fresh and Fred and Aram on their toes. Without us your the Mid. with 1 post a month.
Thanks both of you, we have some surprises coming this fall for football...
HERE , HERE , I second that . For a 3 man team and the vast area you cover I think you guys do a hell of a job. I don't think the bloggers realize how much coverage is done by mainly 3 people. Plus maintain a blog that we all can come on here and let our opinions fly and a also an outlet for those who choose to bag and you and Aram mostly. Keep up the good work as we will soon be in football season when it really gets hot in here. I might add the home delivery service has improved also.
Fred,
ALOT of this , in my opinion is due to the FANTASTIC WORK on part of the staff HERE @ the SGV Tribune .
Keep up the good work !
Fight On
