Breaking News: La Verne Lutheran expected to go independent, will leave Arrowhead League

| | Comments (6) |

The La Verne Lutheran Boys Basketball team, the two-time defending state champions, are expected to leave the Arrowhead League, according to sources, and will go independent. A decision is expected soon, I'm told. This is great for Lutheran, who was too powerful for the Arrowhead, and good for the Arrowhead, who will have more competitive games now that Lutheran is gone. Lutheran be able to play in more showcase games, and will be able to set up key marquee non-league games, which means the Valley may finally get a Lutheran-Damien game next season, which is huge next year with both big men (Chris Reyes and Grant Jerrett) back. Lutheran, I'm told, is also willing and would schedule any area teams the first two weeks of December that would wants a game, so I'm waiting for Bishop Amat, Bonita, Glendora, and perhaps Los Altos or Walnut to step up and welcome it. You want competition, here it is, all you have to do is make the calls.....

AP classes at LVL meet at the same time and same room as non-AP classes. The only difference in the AP History class is a three page paper each semester. Nice way to boost a GPA!

Football 1-7
Girls Basketball 1-17 (forfeit win)
Coed Soccer 0-12
Girls Volleyball 0-18
Softball forfeited season after losing 25-0 to CDSR

Baseball (three talented players) made CIF because they play in one of the weakest leagues in all of the CIFSS. Played the 6th weakest schedule in all of CIF (per MaxPreps), and lost a game by a score of 25-8 to a team which finished 4th in thier league, and did not qualify for CIF. Three players are a senior and two juniors, with nothing on the horizon, so within two years baseball will fall in line with the other programs.

While you are celebrating your basketball victories take a look at the ancillary damage around the campus. And I am not a Glendora fan, so no reason to talk to LeDuc. And actually since I pay tuition to LVL - it is my business!

Haterade party - it's not that the website is bad. There's actually plenty of info. It was a reaction to the twisted priorities of a school that can send their basketball team all over the country (at least at some expense) yet you claim can't afford the $100/year to host a website that is not with a host (leaguelineup.com) designed to provide web services to youth sports organization. Ironic

Going to their website stinks card? Wow, getting a little nitpicky don't you think? The school doesn't have big funding like other private schools and doesn't get the benefit of the public school funding, obviously. The fact that their gym is small and old, their classrooms are few and their website is weak are all true, but what does any of that have to do with the basketball program leaving the Arrowhead league?

By the way, I think the other sports are staying put this upcoming year.

Rather than point out their week website or cast aspersions like their "measly sports programs that have by hanging on by a thread while LVL has become a basketball program pretending to be a high school", why don't you have your Coach LeDuc call Cooper to schedule a game?

By the way, they are a real high school that has a prom, has some great students taking AP classes and going onto college (Not just the 4 or 5 senior basketball players who are going to college), but numerous other kids on campus who are stellar students and, by the way, the baseball team made CIF.

If you spent more time minding your business that sticking your nose in other people's business, imagine how evolved and improved you would be?

that IS funny. All you need to know about them is the school website is a http://www.leaguelineup.com/lhslv website (used by many little league and youth sports organizations) how classy is that!

Wow - nice breaking news - this has been known by folks in the LVL world for over a month.

You are missing the true story - ALL SPORTS will go FREELANCE.

Further destroying, the measly sports programs that have by hanging on by a thread while LVL has become a basketball program pretending to be a high school.

CIF has approved the switch, now the other 7 Arrowhead schools must approve by unanamious vote - merely a rubber stamp - they all will be glad to be done with LVL!
