Playoffs: Baseball/Softball, second-round schedule
Are you as surprised as I that there are only six area baseball teams in the second round? The Valley took a hit in the wild card and first round. Kind of interesting the Montview, Del Rey and Sierra are the only area leagues with two teams left. The Valle Vista is the only league not to advance a team to the second round, when was the last time that happened? The usual heavyweights, South Hills and Glendora, didn't make it past the first weekend either. But I'll tell you what, the area is still on track to win a couple titles, and you know who I'm talking about. In softball, the biggest surprise on paper are St. Lucys and Azusa, but they do have one thing in common, great pitching, and this is the playoffs. Regents pitcher Danielle O'Toole is zeroed in and sharp as ever, and if you haven't seen Azusa pitcher Veronica Ramirez, you're missing out. She could pitch for any of the area's top teams, and is finishing her senior year in style. Softball advanced nine teams to the next round and six have home games Tuesday. Now, the tough job, what games do we cover?

Should be an interesting matchup Tues.with Oak Park playing Amat. Oak Park finished 2nd to #1 seeded Oak Christian in their league. GO LADY LANCERS!
P.S. Mrs Sanchez you may want to park a little farther away...LOL
Two very interesting )Parochial school) games this week with Damien at Notre Dame and Amat at St Boneventure.
If it were football, I wonder which one would be bigger for the valley, especially if Damien were the home team against Notre Dame ?
Also, here's a shout out for the Don's ! Good luck this week Sierra Vista !
East SGV Tribune? Thanks for the update.
Shut up Igor!
Know The Game: Check the Star-News. This is the Tribune, for the East SGV. Star-News is for the Westside.
My bad Fred- I apologize.
Wasn't expecting you to 'cover' it...just thought since it's one of a hanful of SGV schools in the playoffs, the schedule would be posted by the paper that repesents the SGV (whether it's the Star News or The Tribune, I figured they would both support). I'll just continue to look for the schedule in the LA Times.
Damien is in ti to win it!
softball Div 6: San Gabriel Mission vs Citrus Valley at Mission at 3:15.
Can we get some LOVE?
its possible that Amat will face both teams that beat them this year.Torrance in the semis and Palm Desert in the final.
Forgot what, since when did the Tribune cover La Salle?
Softball, Division 7: In second round action, Pomona Catholic HS hosts Lee Vining H.S. on Tuesday, 3:15 PM, at Field of Dreams in Chino Hills.
