Softball: St. Lucy's gets big win over Ayala; Chino Hills has 1/2 game lead over South Hills

Right: St. Lucy's all everything Danielle O'Toole...

Tuesday's Sierra League results: Chino Hills beat Charter Oak 5-3 to stay in the Sierra league lead, improving to 18-5 and 9-2. South Hills outslugged Claremont 9-5 to stay a half-game back of first, improving to 15-6 and 9-3 in league. St. Lucy's pitcher Danielle O'Toole threw a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts for the Regents, who earned an much-needed 2-0 win over Ayala to move into a tie for third with the Bulldogs, who both sport identical 6-6 league records. All of these teams meet again on Thursday, St. Lucy's needing to win again to move into third all alone. Meanwhile, Chino Hills and South Hills are still in a tight race for the title -- neither can afford to stumble with three games left.

The St. Lucy's girls can compete against good league competition, but poor coaching decisions is too much for them to overcome.

Score from today's game? (Ayala/St. Lucy's)

St. Lucy's may be peaking at the right time. There have been some players that did not give up on the team all season long and have been consistently giving 100%, that character is starting to get contagious and St. Lucy's is now playing as a team. O'Toole is almost to the level she was last year and they need to continuously throw her, every game she gets stronger.

If St. Lucy's makes the playoffs, I'd be shocked in the sense that Ayala didn't make it. I don't think anybody would have thought that they wouldn't make the playoffs during March even though they lost Jessica Hall. Either way, whomever makes it in can easily get into the third round if they show up and play like they are capable of. Ill go out on a limb and say every Sierra League team will get into the third round. Good luck everyone.

She is a great player. Look at her intensity during this picture!

She is just getting stronger every game she pitches after coming off an injury before the high school season. If St. Lucys makes CIF, they have a chance to go a few rounds. Their defense has been really stepping up. They have to get more players hitting in the line-up, though.

all everything means she can pitch, hit, field and run ... why is that so hard to understand? I used all-everything because I used a picture of her fielding, even though in the short write-up I spoke of her pitching...Geez, do we have to pick at everything?

@ El Softballer, i guess you haven't seen her play. She is all that, complete package.

"St. Lucy's all everything Danielle O'Toole..." Fred what the heck does that mean, It doesn't even make sense?

Fred, Chino Hills is 9-2 in league, not 10-2. South Hills is only 1/2 game back for 1st place.
