Amat postgame after 14-0 win over Garfield

Bishop Amat 14, Garfield 0 — Quarterback Rio Ruiz didn’t start until the second quarter, but the good news is the Lancers’ much improved defense threw a shutout heading to mighty Servite next week. Ruiz was 10 of 13 for 90 yards and Jalen Moore rushed for 102 yards and a TD. Zach Shay also scored late.

    Notoriously slow starters because a sophomore quarterback, who never played a down under the lights, got the start over Rio Ruiz on opening night.

    The game was pretty much like last year’s game w/ Garfield except Amat had 2 TDs called back last night.

    Maybe the coach will let Rio air it out for 300-400 yards passing which he is certainly capable.
