Girls Volleyball Prep Roundup: Bonita and St. Lucy’s both sweep, will meet tonight at St. Lucy’s; El Monte improves to 4-0

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Nonleague
St. Lucy’s 3, Los Altos 0
In a nonleague match, St. Lucy’s defeated Los Altos 25-20, 25-15, 25-18. Jasmine Warmington led the Regents with 10 kills on 13 swings and Jackie May had 25 assists to go with three aces.
Vanessa Caustrita closed the match out with five kills in game three for St. Lucy’s. St. Lucy’s improves to 2-0, and will host Bonita tonight at 5:30 p.m.
Bonita 3, San Dimas 0
Bonita was victorious over rival San Dimas 25-16, 25-12, 25-9. The Bearcats (2-0) were led by Sarah Bruchet with six kills and 17 assists, Victoria Dennis added nine kills and six blocks, while Kaitlyn White chipped in five kills and five aces.
Alverno 3, Arroyo 0
Alverno handled Arroyo in nonleague action 25-7, 25-18, 25-14. Jessica Hamilton had 12 kills and Sydney Hernandez-Barber added 8 kills for Alverno. Alverno is now 3-0 on the season.
California 3, La Mirada 1
Substituting for Gabby Lonza who sprained her ankle last Friday, the Condors’ (1-2) sitter Diana Accosta sparked her team to victory over La Mirada (1-2) by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 19-25,25-20.
Also adding to the Condors victory was the outstanding play of Sidney Rubacalva with her diving digs which allowed the Condors to keep the ball alive and get the return point.
Rancho Cucamonga 3, Diamond Bar 2
Rancho Cucamonga outdueld Diamond Bar 25-18, 16-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-13. Kathleen Torres led Diamond Bar with 30 kills, Francesca Essilsie added 13 kills and Tataum Lockett 10 kills. Diamond Bar is now 2-1.
El Monte 3, Temple City 0
El Monte easily handled Temple City 25-15, 25-10, 25-12. Amanda Duenas and Cristella Gonzalez each chipped in with 10 kills and Connie To added 25 assits for El Monte. El Monte improves to 4-0 and Temple City drops to 1-2.
Mountain View 3, Bassett 2
The Olympians jumped out to a 2-0 game lead before the Vikings (2-2) came back to win the final three games by scores of 25-27, 24-26, 26-24, 25-21, 15-12. The Vikings were led on offense by Leslie Morsin’s 18 kills, Anahi Ureta’s 14 kills and Melisa Valenzuela’s 10 kills. Also playing a fine game was Lorraine Gonzales 35 assists.
San Marino 3, Campbell Hall 1
San Marino outlasted Campbell Hall 25-16, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19. Katherine Sloan led San Marino with 12 blocks, Cassidy Mace had 11 kills and Miranda Young and Amanda Ye each added seven kills. San Marino improves to 3-0, and Campbell Hall drops to 1-1.
South Hills 3, Walnut 0
South Hills defeated 25-9, 25-16, 25-21.
South Pasadena 3, Rosemead 0
The Tigers (3-0) shut out the Panthers (0-1) by scores 25-22, 25-20, 25-18 in nonleague play. Claire Kiesser-Wright led South Pasadena with 12 kills and six aces. Jessica Arroyo recorded 23 assists in the Tigers’ win.
