Thursday Volleyball: South Hills rolls past Bonita, Walnut shocks Bishop Amat in five

South Hills 3, Bonita 1

The Huskies outlasted the Bearcats (2-2) 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22. Bonita was led by Sarah Bruchet’s 29 assists and seven digs and Victoria Dennis added 20 kills. Kaitlyn White and Brie Kennedy each had nine kills and Melissa Katherman contributed six digs. Marisa Gomez led the Huskies (6-1) with 23 kills and 3 aces.
Walnut 3, Bishop 2
Walnut defeated Bishop 25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 20-25, 16-14 behind Hannah Pope’s 14 kills and five blocks.

Alverno 2, La Puente 0
Alverno took its first match of the day 25-17, 25-13 as Jessica Hamilton led the scoring with 13 kills.
Alverno 2, Webb 0
Alverno defeated Webb 25-23, 25-17 as Hamilton continued her strong play with 17 kills.
Alverno 2, Covina 0
Hamilton rounded out the day with another 14 kills as Alverno prevailed 25-20, 25-13. Montview League
Azusa 3, Sierra Vista 0
Azusa (3-0, 0-1) cruised to the win by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-6. Erika Maldonaldo led the Aztecs with eight kills as Andriah Afati added seven aces. Tonie Jackson contributed five aces and Yessenia Telestino rounded out the offense with three aces. Prep League
Chadwick 3, Pasadena Poly 0
Pasadena Poly (6-1, 1-1) fell to Chadwick 25-14, 25-14, 25-15. Alexis Genske led the victorious Panthers with 13 kills.

San Marino 3, Maranatha 0

San Marino swept past the Minutemen 25-12, 25-19, 25-22. The Titans (4-0) were led by Amanda Yee with 12 assists and Adrea Yen’s eight kills. Anna Fong and Kathleen Sloan each contributed five blocked shots.
Whittier Christian 3, California 0
Whittier Christian (7-0, 1-3) triumphed 25-11, 25-16, 25-13 and was led in scoring by Deanna Blaine with 13 kills, Kylee Wolfe’s 10 kills, Jaden Louie’s 31 assists and Ashley Hunter’s 17 digs.
St. Paul 3, La Mirada 2
St. Paul (3-3) was led by Natalie Lopez with 17 kills and four aces in a hard-earned 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10 victory over the Matadores (1-3). Riley Kelly added 11 kills for the the Swordsmen.
South Pasadena 3, Alhambra 0
South Pasadena remained undefeated in four matches by getting past Alhambra 25-22, 25-21, 25-21. Claire Kieffer-Wright had 14 kills and Samantha Figueroa contributed 10.
