Thursday Final: Workman rallies in fourth to beat Montclair, 30-27; Diamond Ranch routs Chaffey 29-6 and Mountain View beats Hoover, 34-21

Workman 30, Montclair 27Workman High School quarterback Ryan Gomez led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to help the Lobos pull off a 30-27 victory over Montclair on Thursday at La Puente High.
The Cavaliers (1-3) led 27-22 when Gomez started the drive with a 45-yard run to the Cavaliers’ 35-yard line with 4:08 left. After moving to the 13, a bad snap forced the Lobos back to the 20 and facing third and 17.
After a timeout, Gomez connected with Elias Oropeza over the middle for a 20-yard touchdown pass with 3:08 left and, after a two-point conversion, the Lobos (2-1) led 30-27 and held on to win.

Diamond Ranch 29, Chaffey 6The Diamond Ranch High School football team took efficiency to unprecedented levels on Thursday. Without a single possession in the game’s first 19 minutes, the Panthers managed to take a lead they didn’t relinquish in a 29-6 win over Chaffey.
Mountain View 34, Hoover 21: – Ignacio Castanada was not about to let a Mountain View High School victory slip away. The senior running back returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown seconds after Hoover had scored to lead the Vikings to a 34-21 nonleague victory Thursday night at Glendale’s Moyse Field.
