This type of game with little hype but great tradition that has devolped in just a few years is what makes high school football so much fun,right? See you guys Friday night.

I actually agree with you, none of our cars were bulglarized that i know of, there were no known gunshots heard during the game from the local neighborhood, and the ticket people even spoke some english, yes i agree there is improvement going on

Bonita and DR have a really nice little rivalry going IMO. They always seem to play each other really tough and neither team has yet to win two years in a row which is a better indicator than home or away team winning.

Ah yes…Late September at Wilson.
When the days get shorter, the nights get cooler signaling the beginning of yet another autumn, and of course, marking the start of the annual burning at the stake of the current football coaching staff…just in time for Halloween.

In a few short weeks, Coach Bert has been downgraded from ‘Football Oracle with 50 years of coaching knowledge’…to the old fart that can’t relate with today’s kids.

Who says Wilson doesn’t have a rich tradition.

Aaron, then again the bearcats could have upset the balance of nature last year. Now the winning team is on its home turf.

Cathedral has a freshmen starting at quarterback. he is 6-3 220 pounds and is also a linebacker.he is one of the many talented freshman that where recruited this year.

Once again Dumbazz, I said Farrars accomplishments came at CO as he aged with the program (see above), so the CO players can more easily relate to him.
Burt's accolades are from other schools, and really, another era. Totally foreign to the Wilson players.

Look Jackmo, you're not nearly as smart as you think you are, and you don't need to piss sarcastically on every hydrant you run across. Chill out, and enjoy your senior years. They'll be over before you know it.

I don't think that would be the shock of the world for a panther victory this week,DR has always had better athletes than Bonita they have just been outcoached by a better coaching staff from Bonita and Roddy needs to do a AAA job to outcoach Bonita this week. My shocker of the week will be Monrovia over South Hills. Also tune in to CBS channel 2 Sat. morning 9am for Navy vs Air Force game from Annapolis MD.Some local kids playing on Navy squad QB Chris Proctor from Big Bear, OL Josh Cabral from Santa Margarita (Tesoro HS) and OL Graham Vickers Diamond Ranch HS. Yes, Amat is proud of its' acomplishments. But even though getting that next championship has been challenging, we continue to put good teams on the field; teams that win Serra league championships (2008, 2009). Not to mention we are in a division that Wilson could never compete in.

Take all the shots you want, knowing that your joke of a program is only mentioned as the pit of socal football. See if you can win more than one game this season.

I think in an alternate universe, if I were ever given the Head Coach job at LA, the first few months would be an indoctrination into who "made" the school what it is for the last 35 years.

Most of the injuries are on the defensive side of the ball . Of course if it is a blowout take them out as that would mean they were hitting on all cylinders to some extent. People , even our beloved Trib scribes, were predicting a runaway against Damien and until the second half it was a close game. Before worrying about the depth we need to make sure the first stringers are all on the same page and executing throughout the whole game , not just the second half. Plus our passing game does need work . I think what Hags did on the last possession shows his view on sportsmanship. AMAT almost always will take a knee to run out the clock when the situation arises.

Not too long ago he was the answer to all of Wilson's problems! Now you are hoping that Wilson will get a win against Nogales? During the summer Wilson fans were bragging about all their D-1 players and their all CIF coaching staff. What happened? That's amazing how things have changed in so little time.

With injuries plaguing Amat to some extent, It would be foolish to keep the starters in assuming the game is a blowout. Moreover, you build depth by playing your backups, not to mention it would be very very poor sportsmanship to heave the ball when your up by so many points.

Not too sure about pulling those starters out by the 3rd because they could use the game time work. Jalen maybe ( injury factor and if the score warrants it )but the line and others no .We need to work on the passing game . The team that came out in the second have was executing much better and remember we do have a new tackle on the line so they need to work as a unit . Also as they say on any Friday night so lets just look at the game as another tough opponent and play 4 solid quarters of AMAT football .

What I don't get is how Pasadena, against even a Rettig-less Cathedral....only lost 21 to 13...then was fortunate to hang on for dear life vs La Salle last Friday in 2d half...

Let's be realistic, even with Rettig, Cathedral had no chance to beat Amat this Friday. What he might have done is throw for more than one touchdown, unlike last year.

Amat's offense would still run circles around Cathedral's defense, as we will see on Friday. ( Rettig didn't play defense, did he? )The question is, could Rettig have driven his offense to a not too embarrassing loss?

Hagerty will pull his starters after three quarters as Amat will be up by 35 plus. And we will have a running clock in the fourth to speed up the suffering.

So phantoms, grab an In-an-Out burger, or maybe some kettle corn, enjoy the evening as much as you can.

Unfortunately, Rettig is injured and won't play. I would have loved to see him play against Amat. I know Amat is more challenged this year on their line, but I heard their DB's are solid. So who knows what Rettig could have done against Amat's DB's.

Now I think the game will be as big a blowout as last year when Amat won by I think 50. It will be a long night for the Phantoms in La Puente.

Can't you technically win the season predictions if you pick the same teams as Aram from now on? It guarantees you that meal Aram owes you.

Bonita does not have a great team, they have a good team that is very predictable...AND playing DR always scares me, they seem to always have athletes and an attitude which in the past has been difficult for the Bearcats...However, I think the Bearcats know the magnitude of this game and will prevail in a very close game...24-21...

Bonita has a great team, but DR will prevail by at least a touchdown and shock the world!

If Burt can't come up with a win over Nogales, I believe a handful of kids will leave the team for other sports. With sports being coached year-round now, there's little reason for them to stay on a torpedoed ship. I guess Los Altos knew what they were doing when they passed on Burt in the spring.

Here's the question. Is Hayden Rettig playing for Cathedral? He is one of the best QBs in the Sectoion as a junior and will make a BIG difference in the spread (no pun intended) if he plays.
