Damien senior forward Chris Reyes committed to St. Mary’s on Monday night.

Reyes averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds last season for the Spartans. Reyes, a 6-foot-7 power forward, has been a Tribune All-Area selection the past two seasons.

St. Mary’s men’s basketball program has gained fame recently by reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2005, 2008 and 2010. The 2010 team advanced to the Sweet 16.

St. Mary’s is located 10 miles east of Oakland, Ca. in Moraga.

With Reyes back, the Spartans figure to be one of the area’s top teams again this winter. Damien went 26-4 last season.
