Damien senior forward Chris Reyes committed to St. Mary's on Monday night.
Reyes averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds last season for the Spartans. Reyes, a 6-foot-7 power forward, has been a Tribune All-Area selection the past two seasons.
St. Mary's men's basketball program has gained fame recently by reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2005, 2008 and 2010. The 2010 team advanced to the Sweet 16.
St. Mary's is located 10 miles east of Oakland, Ca. in Moraga.
With Reyes back, the Spartans figure to be one of the area's top teams again this winter. Damien went 26-4 last season.

Congratulations. A very good decision. Randy Bennett has built a strong program at St. Mary's, and this is a very good fit for Chris Reyes.
Damien and Lutheran and Glendora should be pretty good.
Damien returns Reyes and Clayton White who was 3rd in the state in assists last year. Lutheran returns Grant Jerrett who will be a McDonalds All American and good supporting cast in Eric Cooper Jr, Cameron Osorno(spelling might be off) and Brian Beard Jr. Glendora returns Nick Coletta who had a huge sophomore year.
Lutheran is the #1 followed by Damien and 3rd I might be off but I'm gonna go Glendora because Coletta is back after having such a huge year.
Any prediction on this year hoop season for the valley? Is Damien or Luthern going to make some noise?
