the team bus could mistakenly wind up in Mira Mesa and have to forfeit the game

West Covina is the top team no doubt…However, La Mirada is a championship program, They have some big games under their belt m. They are fully capable of winning this game…They will have to put 8 in the box and shut down the run. If they can keep Wesco in 3rd and long( which is hard to do since they avg so much running on 1st, and 2nd down) they could level the playing field. They best way for them on Offense would be to have long drives of there own…But Wesco can score in a hurry…This is they year of the upset…Servite, LB poly, Villa Park, Serra, and Arroyo have all lost…all top seeds…So Anything is possible.

    Fred and Aram:

It is hard to believe that you 2 are adults let alone professional journalists. What happened to journalistic objectivity and ethics. What happened to your integrity. The only “guarantee” in SGV Semi-final football is that there will be several high school players coming to the blogs proud of their accomplishments looking for positive feedback only to watch you make absolute a$$es of yourselves laughing at the efforts and prospect of high school athletes. Keep in mind that these young men have spent 3-4 years preparing to participate in the biggest game of their lives while you sarcastically joke about their team. You really ought to take a hard look at yourselves in the mirror and be ashamed. I am not a fan of La Mirada but respect their kids and their team and their program. I also know that they will bring their very best effort without fear or quit and by the end of the game West Covina will know they were challenged. Now wipe that smirk of your damn face and go write about that. Sure you may have an opinion who will win and have every right to express it but that right does not extend to ridicule of high school kids.

PS you both have absolutely NO idea what it takes to strap on that helmet and hit or be hit by someone at this level. Until you do know what that is about, stop laughing at kids who did have the balls to strap it on and hit.

Thanks guy’s, you’ve just given La Mirada and the rest of the Southeast division all the motivation they need along with a walls worth of locker room material, if WC happen’s to be fortunate enough to win this division you’ve diminished their feat by insisting each week that there are no worthy opponents in the Southeast division that could challenge WC.
There are some very good teams left in this division. La Mirada is a big physical team that is on a 7 game win streak. They are 6’2″/6’3″ across the line and have a power run game that no one has been able to stop lately. Their wins include a 31 to 0 shutout of semifinalist La Serna and a 42 to 14 beatdown of a pretty good Mayfair team. Their win over Arcadia last week is quite a feat in itself. You can throw their loss to Amat out the window cause the week before they took La Habra to the wire, who in turn took Servite to the wire. They’ve been playing their best ball recently and would be tough for any SGV team at this time of year.
Lets let the games play out on the field before we crown a winner.

Well, the week before these same guys predict we would not even be in the game with Arcadia. We destroyed their dream game match-up, Arcadia vs WCovina. Fred, Steve and Aram you can laugh at our chances, But come friday the play on the field will decide the finalist. These guys forgot to mention that Arcadia could not run against LM. West Covina is a running team. Arcadia had 37 rushing yards, Medal had 19 yards on 11 carries. We can stop the run, and win this game. The only guarantee i can give you is La Mirada will give WC one hell of a game. 24 point underdog my ass.

  • Bulldogs have bite

    Dan,

I wouldn’t be so concerned about bulletin board material. West Covina has had the target on our chest since week 0. The Bulldog squad laid it down a couple weeks ago on prepXtra live when they said they just study, practice and compete hard everyday and most importantly stay humble. If other teams need the words of Aram, Fred and Steve or Miguel to get them fired up to play WC in the playoffs, then they will be in big trouble come game night! They should already be fired up! Just like how our boys take one week and one opponent at a time and explode on them every Friday night!

    la mirada,

Boasting about stuffing Arcadia’s running game and saying you guys can stop the run, is akin to a team that played WesCo and boasted about holding us to 50 yards passing and saying you guys can defend the pass. Arcadia is a balanced attack team but mostly a finesse offense. We run the ball with physicality, and if you stuff 9 guys in the box we will go play action and hit you guys deep over the top. It happens every game and it’s funny how quickly afterwards how many coaches stop stuffing the box. Then it’s back to running the ball right through the gut of your defense.

Stats update: Solomon 1030 yards rushing 9.45 ypc
    Frazier 1389 yards rushing 13.23
    Salgado 877 yards rushing 6.75

    Stop the run my ass.

  • Colt74

    Dan,
was going to comment on your post but Bulldogs have bite already said it all.

Have a great game Friday night.

  • bulldog fan

West Covina has a punishing offensive line with a set of backs to compliment that line. La Mirada is going to have a hard time containing those backs, and their defense is going to have a long night..

  • SupaMan

I see you guys hit a nerve…… Well I have strapped it on and won a CIF DIV 1 Championship. WC is doing what Champions do. Play hard, hit hard and staying focused. They aren’t cocky, they aren’t arrogant, they are a very humble group of young men who work hard, are well coached and play football with a lot of CLASS. It’s like getting in the ring with Mike Tyson, REALITY kicks in quick!!!

  • la mirada

    @dan
Arcadia couldn’t run the ball when they had the lead. They were forced to throw, fortunately we created turnovers. Yes i know WC is a good team, but these yahoo’s laughing at our chances was insulting. You are not the first good team our boys have faced. Our boys will be ready.

  • la mirada

Last post should have been at Bulldog

  • SupaMan

    @Aram….

WC is the team that will make you “TAP OUT”… WC #1′s don’t even know what It’s like to step on the field in the 4th quarter. LM be afraid, Be very afraid!!! Hahaha!!!

  • Bulldogs have bite

    la mirada,

I have no doubt your boys will be ready. I respect the fact that you guys also play a tough non-league schedule. Look at the results, you guys are in the semi’s.

Just your comparison of holding Medel from Arcadia to 37 yards to somehow equate to what you will be seeing Friday night is absolutely absurd. Arcadia is finesse, WC is smash mouth. Medel would be the 5th or 6th best back on our roster. And that’s not knocking him because he’s fantastic. We are just that loaded at RB.

La Mirada has faced some tough teams, so I know they won’t be caught in the headlights when the whistle blows. West Covina has faced some teams also, so I know Friday will be a great game!

  • comparative scores

I expect nothing less than the “#1″ Bulldogs jumping out to a 49-0 lead.

  • Fred Robledo

La Mirada fans, you’re being way to sensitive, Aram, Steve, Miggy and I try to be as honest as we can with our opinions, and that’s all they’re opinions. If picking a team to win in a landslide is considered “ridicule,” then I guess we have a difference of opinion. I listened to the drill again and don’t think I was harsh at all. And while Stevie and I gave La Mirada a punchers chance, Aram basically guaranteed it. And that’s all it was, opinions and trying to do give them in a fun-enough environment so that you might actually watch the video. You know, we didn’t create the social media world we lived in today. I was fine 15 years ago just writing straight news stories for the paper. But in today’s environment, we’re asked to be journalists, broadcasters, studio hosts, opinion writers, bloggers and be willing to put ourselves out there for ridicule from anonymous commenters. We’re not trying to offend anyone, but what we’re learning over the years is that simply making a prediction is offensive to some.

  • The Chef

    Fred,

I would expect as an adult you would realize that there is considerable difference between making predictions for a lopsided score and laughing about a teams’ body of work and dismissing their ability to compete. For the record the latter is ridicule. Don’t hide behind that “Oh I was just trying to be entertaining to do my job” crap. You know the difference between reporting the news with flair and being dismissive of a teams of young men that you really know nothing about. I would also expect that as a professional, your integrity would prevent you for the sake of a “fun environment” making light of a group of High School Kids. If it doesn’t then frankly you are in the wrong business.

Admit it Fred, You messed up. Apologize and move on.

  • Bulldogs have bite

    Chef,

Come off it already. We call them kids, but in reality they are already young men. I really don’t see where in the video that would be anything near damaging to a young man’s psyche.

If you or La Mirada feel disrespected, then respond like MEN do. Take it out on the field and not on a reporter on a blog!

Ridicule? Why? Because Fred predicted a blow out? WC has put a running clock on it’s last 5 consecutive Southeast opponents. It’s not ridicule. It’s opinion that was formed through recent results and facts.

Hopefully the La Mirada team does not have the same bleeding heart soft attitude that you have.

  • The Chef

    @Bulldogs have bite

Go back and carefully read my 1st entry. I am not a fan of La Mirada and I do not feel disrespected. Given your normally pugilistic comments, I doubt however that you would have the same perspective if WC would be discussed in the same manner that La Mirada was. I also doubt that anyone from La Mirada will attribute inappropriate comments by a couple of Trib Hacks as comments in any way coming from Westco. However I do believe that they will “take it out on the field” and give Westco a Hell of a game. Talk to me after the game and let me know if you feel the same.

  • Fred Robledo

Chef, your such a drama king. Maybe we’re not for everyone, and certainly not for you, but I never take a commenter seriously who throws out words like integrity, be an adult, then slams you with insults and character attacks that are far worse than the comments your complaining about. Kind of laughable you would ask for an apology after your little charade. Why don’t you answer this question, if what we’re saying is so offensive, why are you the only one complaining about it?

  • The Chef

    Fred,

So you are arguing that the determinate of the propriety of an action is the number of people who complain about it… really… and you call yourself a journalist? I guess you are right, I held you in far to high esteem by believing that you could consider the propriety of your conduct. Now that I have answered your question, answer mine… If your son had spend 4 years busting his butt playing football for La Mirada, (and mine does not) would you consider the tone, tenor and content of your comments appropriate? You may feel that the comments were “fun and entertaining” but appropriate, well I doubt it.

  • la mirada

    Fred,
With our record of 8-4, i expect our team not to get picked as a favorite or even be considered a legit threat to Wesco. You guys want to call a blow-out that’s your right and should be free to do so. We were not picked by anybody to upset Arcadia or even to be in the game. And nobody in La Mirada said peep about it. Right? The thing that was irritating was at the 2:40 time (or so) in the video when the “sarcastic” laughter started about our chances. That’s your opinion, fine, if you did not intend to sound like that, i will take you at your word. Now i will let our team do it’s talking friday nite.

  • Misplaced anger

La mirada, actualy Fred and Steve were giving La Mirada a chance and Fred was stating that any team mthat plays La Habra tough has a chance. It was Aram who was clowning and acting the fool off camera and laughing saying therre was no way WC can lose. Of course, if he was doing a Two-Minute Drill before the Tesoro-Servite game, he would have probably laughed at Tesoro and said the was no way Servite could lose either.
