Listen to Monrovia coach Ryan Maddox on Petros and Money show ... Maddox says he's a Trojan at heart, hoping McCarthy goes to USC

| | Comments (28) |

Listen to Petros and Money butter-up Maddox, talking about schedules, Monrovia's title and of course, big-time recruit Ellis McCarthy, whom Maddox is hoping goes to USC. In fact, Maddox sort of broke some news, saying USC is at the top of McCarthy's list, followed by California and Oregon ... That doesn't sound good for UCLA. Maddox explained Monrovia's slow start (losses to Arcadia, South Hills and San Dimas), saying it was because of a, "CIF championship hangover," and goes on to say the San Dimas loss "fired them up." ... I don't if that's the case, there's probably nothing like the Rio Hondo league to get the confidence going again, right?

It is obvious that you have the words NERVOUS and PROUD confused.

Let me help clarify for you :

PROUD - Wanting to see the Colts play up to their potential and achieve what they have in their power to achieve.

NERVOUS - Monrovias 5-3 record. Having to rely on the failings of others to qualify for a top 4 playoff seed. May have to face Pomona.

Hope that sets you straight. Glad to help out.
Always here to help you when needed.

Colt you are nervous..pressure pressure pressure...that will ring in your head when the playoffs are finally here..It's Covina's title to lose right? LOl...Well Enjoy Wilson...after that the games really matter...Prrrrrrrrresssurre!

"...and Covina bloggers will disappear"

You mean like the Monrovia bloggers did THIS YEAR?
:)

And again, commenting on the past and next year shows just how in your head Covina is this year.
And it's dark and lonely in here too! But we DO like the Cardinal and White color scheme you have going on!
:)

Just Observing : I stand corrected. TY!

Paul, get used to that phrase. You will be saying it a lot here shortly. But then again, in the last 10 years I bet you have already said that a lot.

Get ready for Pomona! The Red Devils are coming! The Red Devils are coming!

You'll never make it to us.....

Ghost...how does Coach thomas not have a losing record in playoffs...I am not sure if he was the coach when covina went to the semis, thats still 4 wins and two losses, then you count how many 1st and 2 round losses...probably .500 at best. Nevertheless.. Either way...the game is decided on the field in the playoffs and guess what...the playoffs are coming the playoffs are coming..... presure pressure pressu... Covina does not how to handle playoff adversity....The playoffs is loaded with Adversity....I think regardless of what happens this year, they won't have 18 returning starters next year, with livingston, venegas, Mason, De la Cruz, Hynes, Carillo, and more...Covina won't be in the conversation, and Covina bloggers will disappear, like the Wilson Bloggers. OOH everything is riding on this year lol....That's alot of pressure...hahah

07 Z SD
08 Z SD
09 Z SD
10 DT Covina
11 DT Covina

6-5 Z

i guess in Dec of 2011 we will get a tie: Then a winner in 2012. Opps doesn't look like the colts will compete next year!!! Heard DT was retiring.....

Colt74,

Monrovia was #1 in 2009 and lost to SD. Monrovia won in 2010 when they were not #1. Best of luck to #1

The Ghost of L.L said:

@Paul...see when you make statments like Coach Thomas has a losing record in the playoffs I start to once again doubt your knowledge of history cause that is just not true. Next thing, Coach Z had his most talented teams while he was at Northview, more talented then the SD team that one the ring, and he could never get it done. oh the thing about him being one of two best coachs in the division well since he has gotten to SD take a look at his record against Coach Thomas and the Colts. By the way you are the one who keeps on bringing up covina, hoping that this is not a different team, hoping that if you talk loud enough that it well be true.

Aram's from Temple City High School, That's why he does not like Monrovia....It's understandable.

paul revere said:

Ghost I know My history...Covina won in the 20's and 30's then the won in one in the 80's and the last championship was in 95. That's great! Since then Monrovia has Won More playoff games and Recently Won a title...1-9 is still better than never going at all. Some schools have never won...Monrovia is not on that list anymore...Monrovia now has the best head coach they have ever had... In the 3 years he has taken over, he has been to the Semi's, Finals twice and 1 title...4 RHL titles, 40-9 record overall It's a different team, and Different program from the other teams which lost....No Disrespect, but Coach Thomas does not have a winning playoff record since he has been there. And Sure enough has not won a title. He is a great coach no doubt, but it's hard to go far consistently. Maddox and Coach Z are the top coaches in the division hands down.
So, Monrovia has a new history under a new leader. The playoffs are coming the playoffs are coming...Why is the #1 team so worried about #5 team?....pressure pressure pressure....

The Ghost of L.L said:

@Paul Revere....I am not sure where you get some of these takes from...you state that the playoffs are coming and that is where Monrovia, SD, and WCHS play there best football....let me take you down memory lane Monrovia is 1-9 all time in championship games (so you pretty much choke on the biggest stage), before the last two season SD had not sniffed a semi-final game let alone a championship, and WCHS was a doormat for the better part of the past 2 decades....Covina may have lost in the quarters last season, but they also went to the semi's twice in the middle of this decade in a division where SD was getting beat by 50 in the first round and Monrovia wanted no part of the division. So before you come on here and try and state history please do a little reasearch, cause much like your name in history everything you say has a tad of truth but for the most part it is fairy-tale...oh and by the way Covina in championship games 6-2 all time.

For those interested, here is the video highlights/ interviews from Monrovia's season opener. UCLA Head Coach Rick Neuheisel was there along with USC ass. coaches Ed Orgeron and Kennedy Pola among others... Ellis talks about how it felt playing in front of the coaches. In the game, McCarthy threw a block to spring De'Shawn Ramirez for a punt return that I believe separated the Glendora player's shoulder... Hardest hit I've seen all year.

Arnold says Mr Olympia is Mr Olympia until some one takes it from him on stage. The Playoffs are coming the playoffs coming ...pressure pressure pressure...Covina the lights are too bright; exit stage left.

You keep bringing up last year. That is good. It shows you are VERY, VERY worried about this year.
And you should be. Pressure. Pressure.
But lets face facts. You guys will probably be knocked out by Pomona anyway so, lets just see how it all plays out.

Who's the champ in the Midvalley?

If anyone knows about choking under pressure, or losing big games, it's huh....MONOROVIA, AKA 1-9

paul revere said:

Nah, Monrovia does not throw confetti, they have a new sports complex...after next year Confetti will be Outlawed at Covina district field...They are tired of cleaning that stuff up, for a team that doesn't care about the playoffs...did you help clean up your side after whittier Christian? oops I forgot, you only threw it twice lol...The wind blew that right out of the stadium along with the fans and the team....

Nice try said:

Paul Revere, you're so funny, like Monrovia are the experts, they were only 0-9 in championships before finally winning ... what did they call them, the billycats....lol, like you have championship pedigree or something....

Monrovia, Mr. 1-9

That reminds me. What did you guys do with your "STATE BOWL BOUND" banners you bought at the start of the year?

I say put them in storage. They will probably still be playing football in the 25th Century.

"do you still have confetti left over from last year"

No. But we were able to buy a bunch from Monrovia after your game with San Dimas. We got it dirt cheap too.

paul revere said:

Colt What are going do with all that confetti, after it's all over in the 2nd? All you are going to hear is

Na-na-nah-na, na-na-nah-na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye

do you still have confetti left over from last year?

Paul,
So glad you like music. Now it's my turn.
Led Zeppelin predicted this season and the Colts:

The Colts are gonna show the Wilcats "NO QUARTER". It's going to be such a beating that "WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS" all the fans from M-Town are going to be "DAZED and CONFUSED" and feeling like "TEN YEARS GONE" since they were any good. The fans will blame the coaches and say it was a "COMMUNICATIONS BREAKDOWN" and want to beat them like an old "BLACK DOG". The fans will say "BABE I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU" and head "OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY". They will think that this was their "ACHILLES LAST STAND" and wonder "HOW MANY MORE TIMES" Covina is going to score on them.
The Covina fans are going to think about the Colts and "SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU" you have shown me back "A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE" and together this season we are going to climb our "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" because "THAT'S THE WAY".

It's going to be a cold night when we play...even colder for you after Covina wins. You might want to wear a warm jacket, maybe even "KASMIR".

"In the last 2 years the #1 Seed has never won the Midvalley."
???????????????????????????????????????????????

2010: Azusa #1 Seed
2009: Monrovia #1 Seed ( Won )

That's the last 2 years...right?

I see you are already warming up with your excuses. Good to know!

Here we go with the preseason, league champ people...Always talking about games that have nothing to do with the playoffs...That's where Covina messes up everytime....Well at least you played West Covina well, Beat San Dimas, and Won the VVL...That's all you people care about anyways. The top teams step their game up in playoffs...San Dimas, Monrovia, and WCHS normally play their best games when it matters..Covina usually doesn't...But this is they year Right? 18 returning Starters, #1 Overall seed....That's a bad spot...In the last 2 years the #1 Seed has never won the Midvalley. I wonder why...last year it was Azusa, and this year it's Covina. The Playoffs are coming, the playoffs are coming...pressure pressure pressure...I am telling you now, so I can say "I told you so" later.

Nice try said:

Paul, nice try, Petros' only interest in Monrovia is helping 'SC recruit McCarthy .. c'mon now, don't tell me you didn't figure that out after your long poetry session.

Scoreboard
San Dimas 31, Monrovia 14

Covina 39, San Dimas 21

Paul Revere said:

Well Colt 74 Riddle me this ...Why Petros and Money not Calling Coach Thomas? The Colts are 9-1, VVL Champs and #1 in the Midvalley Top 5 SGV? Instead, they call Coach Maddox. His team is only 5-3 RHL Champs, and #5 in the Midvalley and 17 in SGV? You know why....bc the playoffs are coming, the playoffs are coming...Pressure pressure pressure...you guys are so nervous over there lol....the playoffs are coming...for you i am going to do a remix of the words of the great Rodney 'o and Joe Cooley...

Lil Pony
Look who's hangin out with the Falcons
Just because you're on top of the mountain
But what goes up, must come down, Colt
They didn't care about you 2 years ago
So what you're gonna do when it's on sinkin
Crazy Colt, you probably start drinkin
I don't know, but I'll never be a Colts friend
Just because a fool won a league Championship
You know paul revere, will never quit
And all that nonsense bloggin ain't sayin sh*t
I'm only down with the Wildcats from the get-go
F**k the Valley vista league and the Red Colts
If you don't like it, here goes my middle finger
Paul revere is keepin one in the chamber
Who you're foolin, you puff, you prance, slow colt
We're gonna win it all, but you don't hear me though

Real poetry..
