3:20 p.m. Update Games at Baldwin Park have been moved to Covina because of power outages and games scheduled for Sierra Vista also will be moved. Glendora is hosting Walnut at 7:30 p.m, at Glendora HS. Garfield and South Hills’ quarterfinal today has been moved to Friday at 6 p.m., at Covina. The plan is for the winner to play in the semifinals later that night. When we get other location updates, we’ll share them. Baldwin Park district officials are in full power outage mode, the district already has cancelled school on Friday, and is not allowing Baldwin Park or Sierra Vista’s basketball teams to play today or tomorrow, even if they play at an alternate location. Azusa’s team was pulled from the tournament for the same reasons. Moving the sites are one thing, not allowing teams to play at safe, alternate locations is just ridiculous thinking on part of the districts.

Rowland Wins: When the Keppel High School boys basketball team was poised to make its patented fourth-quarter run, Rowland was there to stop it. The Aztecs closed to within 10 points to start the fourth quarter, but Rowland had a run of its own en route to a 63-42 victory in pool play of the Sierra Vista-Baldwin Park tournament on Tuesday.

The boys basketball season begins with the second annual Baldwin Park/Sierra Vista Winter Tip-off Tournament with several of the top locals, like Glendora, Covina, Walnut, South Hills and Baldwin Park.
