The inaugural West Covina Christmas Classic “Toy Drive and and Fundraiser” baseball tournament is at Orangewood Park in West Covina on Saturday and Sunday, which features some of the best seventh and eighth-grade baseball players around. Area fans are encouraged to stop by Orangewood Park over the weekend to donate toys and enjoy baseball. On Sunday at 2 p.m., the organization will honor Damien coach Greg Gano with a lifetime achievement award. Also expected to attend is West Covina mayor Mike Touhey, the West Covina H.S. marching band and members from the West Covina fire department. The championship game will start at 3 p.m., and throwing out the first pitch is Gano’s daughter, Courtney Gano, a softball standout at the University of Washington and Bishop Amat’s CIF baseball player of the year Rio Ruiz.
