Football: Charter Oak and Bishop Amat agree to meet, setting up a huge game in Week 3

Bishop Amat football coach Steve Hagerty said the Lancers have agreed in principle to play Charter Oak in Week 3 three this fall. The schools agreed on a two-year deal. Charter Oak will host the Lancers this season and Bishop Amat will host the Chargers in 2013. Bloggers and this office have argued in recent years who would win if two of the Valley’s best programs met and finally, they will settle it on the field. I imagine it will be intense, emotional and for the winner, bragging rights the rest of the year.

    @early line .what do you mean Amats got nothing next year.both teams lose there Qbs and leaders which is big for both schools.Amat returns some key athletes. dj daniels,dionza blue,darren andrews ,sal velasquez and adam alcantara.CO returns scoby and bobo.key players gone for amat are ruiz,moore and montes.key players gone for CO are thropay,gilchrest and santiago.they both lose alot and will be different teams. dont know how both teams will do without there QBS. they where important to there offense. Amat will be coming off a game against servite which will better prepare them for week 3.

    You left out Sanchez the leading receiver and Shay. Amat is bascially loosing their running game and passing game. I don’t know where their offense will be coming from. Things aren’t looking good, the last three years in Serra League have been co-champs, second palce and this year thrid place by coin flip. Your returners are all on the defensive side of the ball so maybe we will be a good defensive team, but offense fills the stands. Last year attendance looked down, the dog pound was prety empty thanks to Haggerty’s conservative/boring play calling. Haggerty can’t attract any good recruits and we will basically be a small team again next year on the O and D line. No playoffs for us.

    That being said even a bad Amat team can beat Charter Choke.

    Don’t be too suprised to see Blue toting the rock next year and we have another excellent sophomore who ran hard and fast on JV’s last season along with some good sized linemen.If anything we always seem to come up with a stud running back . You remember the woes and worries when JA left to concentrate on baseball and up popped Moore who turned out to be all Serra league 2 years . Also a QB who just needs some seasoning as he was a freshman but has size and skills to be a good one.To me last year was a fluke as many variables caused some problems and not to mention the injury factor to Shay and others which was huge as we had to retool the offense with him out.Not an excuse for our showing just something for the true observer to think about. So to me things look good for next year but that’s my opinion and only time will tell . As for me I can’t wait until the season starts.

    You said Amat will be small on the O and D lines
    next season. From what I recall, next years seniors seemed like they were 6’1 across the line
    as freshmen, did you lose some of those kids?

    yeah i did forget to mention sanchez and shay.shay i forgot because he was hurt most of season.my point was that charter oak also lost there key players also.how can you replace both RIO and Santiago. Amat will be fine at the running back position. both Daniels and Blue where great running backs as freshman . the line will be as good as last year and who knows. maybe there is someone coming up from JV or frosh.@ ay dios mio.those teams you mentioned would beat most valley teams except the CO, chino hills and west covina.

    Yo Fred, word on the street is that Charter Oak is hosting an out of state team next year for their first game and it will be televised on Espn2, good a pretty good source on that, makes some calls lets see if it is true

    1) dont look down on this amat squad for next year, the seniors next year had an outstanding freshman team with a rough oatch in league

    2) i cant wait til amat tears apart CO and finally puts to rest what everbody has been talking about, so we can all realize the amat is and has been the best in the valley

    3) dont look down on the amat d or lines, watch some film on the dline especailly becaues the D1 offensive lines they had to go against talking about SM specifically, Lopez and Velazquez will be more then fine to take on critics

    - Slow, Weak, and Small OLine and Dline! X
    - Slow and small linebackers and DBs! X
    - Inconsistent QB play! X
    - Slow and small WRs

    And What’s Worse is that the 2012 team will get their a$$e$ handed to them by the Servite BlackFriars (again!) before the go limping into COHS! Ain’t no medicine for those BlackFriars!!!
