Girls Soccer Rankings: St. Lucy’s takes over top spot, Bishop Amat moves to No. 2

Tribune Girls Soccer Rankings
1. St. Lucy’s (12-4) — Except for a 2-0 nonleague loss to Los Osos, they took care of business in league, beating previously unbeaten Claremont and South Hills in overtime on Friday. They didn’t look sharp offensively against the Huskies, but they defend well.
2. Bishop Amat (11-3-3) — Only one game last week, a 3-0 Del Rey win at La Salle. Tough to find much competition for them in the Del Rey, but at least they’re starting to look like the Lancers’ of old.
3. Claremont (15-1-3) — This is how an undefeated season can turn in a heartbeat once league starts. The Pack are 0-1-1 in league. After losing to St. Lucy’s, they tied Chino Hills 0-0.
4. San Dimas (12-2-2) — The Saints are 3-0 in the Valle Vista by outscoring their three victims 24-0. Can anyone challenge them in league? Maybe Wilson, who is 7-4–1 and4-1 in league. They meet on Thursday at Wilson.
5. Chino Hills (12-1-4) — The Sierra League is race to the finish. The Huskies tied their first two games — good ties considering they came against Claremont and Ayala.
6. Diamond Bar (10-3-3) — What’s notable about the Brahmas is not that they’re already 3-0 in the Hacienda, but how they’re doing it. They smoked Walnut 4-1 and seem to be getting better as the season wears on.
7. South Hills (6-2-6) — The Bunker-it-up Huskies almost pulled out a scoreless tie at home against St. Lucy’s, but the Regents’ Victoria Camaj took care of that with an overtime goal. The Huskies might be in a lot of games like this in the Sierra. They can defend, but they need to find ways to score.
8. Ayala (5-6-3) — Don’t let the overall record fool you, they’re already 1-0-1 in league having beating Charter Oak and tying Chino Hills. I feel bad for the Sierra league teams that won’t make the playoffs. Too bad they can only take three. The Sierra has five that are deserving.
9. Sierra Vista (9-2-2) — The Dons are already 6-0 in the Montview and beat La Puente 3-0, and the Warriors figured to have the best chance of beating them. Oh well, see you in the playoffs.
10. Bonita (7–7) — The 2-0 start in the Hacienda includes a 2-1 win over Los Altos. If they can handle Diamond Ranch and Walnut this week, they could be undefeated in league when they meet Diamond Bar.
