Bishop Amat leading rusher Jalen Moore and leading receiver Adam Sanchez will participate in the Catholic/Christian Literacy Classic All-Star Game on Jan. 12 at Whittier College. Moore and Sanchez will be on the South/East team which will play the North/West team. Both teams are made up of players from private Catholic and Christian high schools.

There are expected to be several college scouts in attendance. That's good news for Moore, who is trying to earn a scholarship after two consecutive dazzling seasons at running back.

Moore almost didn't find out about the game, but game officials overcame a communication issue with Amat and connected with Moore via Facebook and got him in the game.

Standouts return
New Duarte head coach Jason Martin and former Duarte coach Wardell Crutchfield Jr. will host a skills and fundamentals camp at Duarte High today at 10 a.m.

Several former area standouts with ties to the Duarte area are expected to attend and compete. But the camp also is open to the public and all age groups.

Expected to participate are UCLA defensive back Sheldon Price, Fresno State defensive back Jermaine Thomas, Eastern Washington defensive back Jerone Cox, Georgetown linebacker Wardell Crutchfield III, Portland State defensive back Demetrius Jackson and Jordan and Jamie Canada.

The workout will feature cone work, position drills, one-on-one drills and a seven-on-seven scrimmage.

There is no cost.

Damien football camp

The will be a Prepare for Glory football camp at Damien High for youths grades 6-8 on Jan. 14 at 8 a.m.

Members of Damien's football staff will be teaching offensive and defensive fundamentals. Registration is between 7:15-7:45 a.m. on Jan. 14 and the cost is $25. Groups of 10 or more will get a discount of $20 per player.

For more information call (626) 260-1917.

Will Whittier allow ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS fans into the stadium to watch the game??? You know...It being a religious football game and all!!!

If they don't---aren't they being a bunch of hypocrytes???

If they do allow non-believers into the stadium to watcht the game, whats the point of having a religious football game???

Damm it!!! This is where all the other questions begin to come out!!!

Discrimination?
Eliteism?
Good'ol boys separatists?
Religioius Damnation to all non-catholics and/or non-christians?
Public schools should exclude the religious schools from their all star games?

You see where I'm going with this???

SuckaLot---You Still Jumping??? Better be---SON!

Bonita,

Way I hear it, things are changing. Not quite the way you heard it, but different.

I heard an ugly rumor today. It sounds like the Bonita coaching staff will be going through a major overhaul. I heard that the older assistants are resigning and the younger assistants are venturing off to find a program of their own. If this is true, it would leave Podley in a bind.

How bout a congrats to Moore and Sanchez? said:

Hope your son finds great sucess at Damien. Whatever you think is happening at BA, it's obviously not affecting the Lancers from dominating the Spartans.

I am afraid that if any Division I coaches are going to be in attendance at the game, they will be in violation of NCAA rules. According to the NCAA website, the dead period for college coaches starts on January 9 and goes through January 12. Coaches can't call recruits and be at any high school events.

If the people running the event would have done their homework, they'd see that the first day that coaches can go back on the road and recruit starts on January 13th.

Details, details, details...

They are coming said:

Watch and see,
Just finished at open house at Damien. What a great place. All of my family and one son have gone to Amat, but things are changing over there not going to point any fingers. But they have lost that Loving Feeling. But at Damien, completely different. You can feel the Love and Spirit that high school should have and rarely found now a days.
But even more so, the young men on the tour(student tour guides)were some of the most confident, well spoken, well developed and prepared high school boys I have ever seen. I have been around sports all my life and even played, so trust that my word is good.
But even better, my son will go to Damien and he will be a better and more successful man than myself. That is a my job as a parent, is it not? By the way, football is coming along fine...

Where are the Damien Players? said:

Didn't any Damien players make this game? If they are as good as all these Damien folks say they are you'd think they would have a few players in this game. I guess they will be busy helping recruit their replacements at Damien's recruiting...I mean "prepare for Glory" camp.....when was the last decade Damien had any glory, the 80's?....LOL. I wonder if they will teach how to play a prevent defense at this camp?
