Friday’s Basketball Roundup: Amat loses cool in loss to La Salle; Damien survives scare at home against South Hills

Boys Hoops: Amat can’t handle La Salle: Jordan Hill made a pair of free throws after a flagrant foul and then made a 30-footer to just beat the 35-second shot-clock buzzer and La Salle eked out a 56-50 victory over visiting Bishop Amat in a Del Rey League game.

Boys Hoops: Arroyo hangs on against Mountain View: Arroyo High School’s boys basketball team had to survive a late run by Mountain View to hang for a 42-38 win on Friday and a 2-0 start in the Mission Valley League.

The Knights trailed at halftime, but used a 14-1 run to take a 33-21 lead going into the fourth quarter. That’s when Mountain View, last year’s league champion, charged back.
