Friday's Basketball Roundup: Amat loses cool in loss to La Salle; Damien survives scare at home against South Hills

| | Comments (9) |

Boys Hoops: Amat can't handle La Salle: Jordan Hill made a pair of free throws after a flagrant foul and then made a 30-footer to just beat the 35-second shot-clock buzzer and La Salle eked out a 56-50 victory over visiting Bishop Amat in a Del Rey League game.

Boys Hoops: Arroyo hangs on against Mountain View: Arroyo High School's boys basketball team had to survive a late run by Mountain View to hang for a 42-38 win on Friday and a 2-0 start in the Mission Valley League.

The Knights trailed at halftime, but used a 14-1 run to take a 33-21 lead going into the fourth quarter. That's when Mountain View, last year's league champion, charged back.

Boys Hoops: Damien survives scare against South Hills: Damien High School, the top-ranked team in CIF-Southern Section Division 3AAA, did just that in a 44-41 win over South Hills in a Sierra League game Friday night.

In a game that had five ties and 16 lead changes, the Spartans (15-1, 2-0) got a basket and free throw by Chris Reyes with 1:07 left for the victory.

lucky our team doesn't have a coach, my little sister was smashing on guys until our coach sat her out the whole 2nd quarter for no reason, but the lions did a good job overall.

The South Hills Damien matchup is for first, but Chino Hills is also undefeated in league too, right? They are playing to remain in first as well. Good luck and stay healthy my friends.

I've seen Glendora play several times and LeDuc is usually standing near the end of the bench with his arms folded (Amat used to be in their tournament often before they started ducking competition in boys basketball under the current Swordsman that roams our sidelines).

But every picture here or in the papaer makes LeDuc look like a raving lunatic. Oh, he'll let officials know - but he is far from one of the many out-of-control coaches I see in the game today

Fun, I love caption contests! said:

What do you think LeDuc is yelling to the ref?
I'll start:
"I can count to five!"
