Introducing the Bet It and Sweat It blog …

I am very happy to announce that San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group has entered into the world of gambling as it pertains to horse racing, sports betting and poker.

In doing so, we have launched the BET IT AND SWEAT IT blog. There you will find constant updates, insights, opinion and interaction between those of us who like to partake in horse racing, sports betting and poker, be it as a hobby or a serious endeavor.

I’m quite certain you will find this blog VERY ENTERTAINING and VERY INFORMATIVE.

You can start by reading my Super Bowl prediction column. And then be back on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. for a webcast that will feature Covers.com handicapper Dave Malinsky, FOXSports.com’s assistant managing editor Zack Pierce live from Indy and Pro Football Weekly’s Editor and handicapping columnist Mike Wilkening.

Bad Bad idea. AS SGVN sports goes the main focus and money generator is high school sports. Having a gambling blog near by promoted by the SGVN will get blog gamblers fired up to start talking about setting a line for important high school football games. It’s enevitable. The only way to prevent it is to monitor and censor it 24-7. Why not just stick to reporting rather than making the news.

Wow, bad idea is right. Not only inappropriate for a family newspaper, but a waste of resources at a newspaper that already seems to have too few.

I constantly look for scores or stories about soccer games in the SGV but I am always disappointed. I figure its the lack of resources for a small newspaper but now you want to discuss the horses and other gambling issues? NOT A BRIGHT MOVE!

BTW, the guys at the Daily Racing Form or Racing Post don’t do High School Football, Basketball, etc. They are one sport guys; how do you plan to compete against that without giving up on local sports.

Did you hear that Kodak just filed for bankruptcy? It was the digital camera, that they invented in the 70s, that killed them. Good luck!

Gotta ask: why cant we read about the soccer scores in the local paper?

    SGV Scouting,

Thank you, sir. I kinda don’t want the Bet It and Sweat It blog to blow up in popularity because over time, we are going to make nothing but cash. That was evident if you watched to the Bet It and Sweat It Super Bowl handicapping show. Four guys nailing not just the Giants, but the total and a a prop bet.

I’ve told just about everybody I’ve wanted to tell about the Bet It and Sweat It blog, so I know they’re reading it and hopefully doing what smart bettors do — USE IT AS A TOOL, NOT A BLIND FOLLOW.
