Boys Soccer Pairings: Defending champion Claremont No. 1 in Division 2; South El Monte No. 4 in Division 5

Defending CIF-Southern Section Division 2 boys soccer champion Claremont picked up where it left off, earning the top seed in Division 2 following Monday’s Southern Section pairings announcements.

Claremont will open the first round at home on Thursday against the winner of today’s wild card between Palm Springs and Tustin.

Damien finished second to Claremont in the Sierra League and will be home in the first round against Century third-place Esperanza.

The Sierra League sent four teams to the playoffs.

South Hills finished third and will be at Desert Valley League champion Indio in the first round. (To continue click thread)

Chino Hills earned an at-large berth and will be at Garden Grove Pacifica in today’s wild card game with the winner advancing to play La Habra.

Hacienda League champion Diamond Bar leads several area teams in Division 4 and will host Whittier in the opening round.

Montview League champion La Puente will host Serrano and Diamond Ranch is home against St. Genevieve.

Three area teams play wild-card games in Division 4 today.

Bonita is home against Lawndale with the winner advancing to face Saddleback.
Los Altos’ wild card is at Pasadena and Duarte is at Bishop Montgomery.

Mission Valley League champion South El Monte earned the fourth seed in Division 5 and will face the winner of today’s wild card between host Nogales and Santa Paul.

Mountain View finished second to South El Monte in the VVL and still received a first-round game, facing Garden Grove Pacifica.

Valle Vista league champion Pomona will host Colton and defending Division 5 champ

Baldwin Park will be on the road at Monrovia.
In Division 5 wild cards today, Arroyo will host Arroyo Grande and Wilson will travel to Malibu.

If Arroyo advances it will face Carpenteria in the first round. If Wilson advances, it faces Rio Hondo league champion La Canada.

All wild cards are today and first round games on Thursday. All games are scheduled to start at 3 p.m., unless mutually agreed by both teams to play at a different time.
