No wonder South El Monte celebrated the way that they did.. Can you say choke? lol I wonder if they still have all that confidence they had before. Let me guess, their excuses are that they didn’t have this player or that player. A wild card team.. WOW! They may be “league champions” on paper.. But everyone knows who’s the best team in the league, and has been for years. South should have saw this coming.. Cause cheaters never win!
    BUT!!!!!….
Don’t get too comfortable in CIF mountain view.. Barely won and now you are playing a REAL team in the next round. This mvhs team is not as talented as the past years.. So i see their run ending soon.. But if they somehow manage to get past La Canada, then anything is possible..

Rule breakers shown the door first.
El Monte, mountain view and arroyo all knew that you had a player playing in an outside league and everyone took the mans vow of silence because they didn’t want to gain a playoff spot in that way. So they left you there and this is how you show for it. By losing your first game.

  • vikes

    All right vikes!
Next up is familiar rival la Canada and if you go in their remembering the type of team they are you can breathe for one more game but if not then seasons over.

    relax mission valley league,

cheating is when your team gains an advantage against the rest. Playing outside league holds no advantages. But it is against the rules, so i guess karma got the best of south.

I’ve seen Mountain View play a few times and they are pretty good, but they have a few problems. 1, they have no true forward. It seems as though they have midfielders playing up top and they aren’t really good at pressuring or making runs.. 2nd, they sometimes hold the ball too much, instead of making a simple pass they try to take it themselves and they lose it. and finally the goalkeeper.. Their goalie is a HUGE liability.. I don’t know if they didn’t have goalie’s this year or something but it looks like they put someone who has never been goalie before as the starter on varsity. If a team gets 5 good shots on him, at least 1 is going to go in.. He is not secure at all..
Mountain View will need to play their best soccer in order to go deep into CIF this year.. Time will tell..

  • alumni

Well usually MVHS is known for their reliable defense. So their lack of keeper in the past years should be no problem this year.

    @ i know soccer
OK you’ve earned your name because you are right in all you have said. In years past it’s been good midfielders with either a good defense or good forwards. That’s why they were able to make CIF runsthose years.

  • fljhlhlkwrgb

Remember when south people were here talking about how good they were? That was funny huh?

  • LA Grad

Anybody know how Salisian did against Norwalk or Mayfair vs Burroughs/.

  • Rick

Can someone tell me how a team looses it’s wildcard game. And still gets fron and 3rd page coverage. It doesn’t have a soccer tradition to to merritt this kind of attention.

  • rick

I mean La Puente and Sierra Vista won there games today. Ganesha lost in overtime to the #7 ranked team in our division. And our 4th place team (Duarte) lost to #1 ranked El Rancho. The Monview league is a formitable league.

  • rick

I am not saying that our teams will win it all, but lets get balanced coverage. Our league was very competetive. For al those Los Altos fans. I hate to burst your bubble but that game we lost to you, We had 8 starters either hurt or serving a team suspention.

  • rick

It doesn’t take the win away. You deserve it. I am only responding to those who questioned Fred about why we were ranked ahead of Los Altos. Believe me, we wanted Los Altos in C.I.F.

  • rick

Sorry, I didn’t mention the score between Duarte #1
El Rancho. 1-0! Last years C.I.F. Champion. Basically the same players that one it all last year. Great job Duarte.

  • SGV

LaPuente looked good in thier opener in the C.I.F Hope they do good good job warriors

  • Alex

Salesian def. norwalk 1-0… salesian will play sierra vista in the second round at sierra vista…. should be a great game considering they’ve met before in pre-season
