San Gabriel Valley high school basketball players and high schooled aged-kids with hops are encouraged to participate in this newspapers slam dunk contest sponsored by Longo Toyota/Scion– a contest with $5,000 in scholarship prize money and a sweepstakes that includes an IPad 2 and Los Angeles Clippers tickets.
All students have to do is find a playground or use their high school gym and videotape their favorite dunks and submit them to our Facebook contest website’s at the San Gabriel Valley Tribune (on.fb.me/slamdunk_sgvt), Pasadena Star-News (on.fb.me/slamdunk_psn) or Whittier daily News (on.fb.me/slamdunk_wdn) by March 15 to be eligible to participate.
The first four entries are automatically entered into a sweepstakes. The winner of the sweepstakes will be awarded an IPad 2.
Once the submission period ends on March 15, online voting begins on the Facebook pages. Online voters may vote once per day until the voting period ends.
The entrant with the most online votes will win a set of four Los Angeles Clippers tickets at the Staples Center.
There will be a live final round held at Longo Toyota / Scion in El Monte to coincide with the NCAA Final Four. All entrants will be invited to perform their dunks live and the grand prize will be presented to the winner that day.
A panel of Judges will award the winning dunk and a $1,500 scholarship provided by Longo Toyota / Scion. The winning school will also receive a $3500 scholarship from Longo Toyota/Scion.
Video entrants must be between the age of 13 and 19 years old and a legal California resident to enter.
