THE ONLY THING HOLDING SAINT LUCYS SOFTBALL BACK IS THE –HEAD COACH–.

I agree it seems this guy has been “carried ” by the talented girls at St Lucy’s….how ever you cant hide behind talent forever look at us!

Fred, really.Duarte in the top ten is just plain ridiculous. The Falcons got killed in the OC by 3rd rate teams last week. Do you actually think they could beat anybody else on your list? Have you seen them play this year? And ,if so, you’d rate them 4th still? Remember the Libero, history repeats itself.(I’ve called their games this year, and trust me, they can’t hold a candle to any of the teams listed)

  • Fred Robledo

Yes, I watched Duarte against Azusa and think they can play with a few teams in our rankings, absolutely. They’re very sound defensively and have strong hitters throughout the lineup. I also thought their basketball team, given the opportunity, could have played with Bonita or Bishop Amat. The Falcons girls hoops team was bigger and more athletic than Amat and Bonita. In softball, the Tickey sisters are legitimate and short and first, and their pitching is better than average. They could win the Valle Vista and Mission Valley League, and would challenge for the Hacienda League title. They could compete with some Sierra League teams, but they probably wouldn’t make the playoffs. But in terms of record, they belong where we have them.

I am not sure about the Big Toole. Maybe “Toole Time.” She is an amazing young lady on and off the diamond. Congratulations St. Lucy’s for bringing back softball. What an incredible standout year for the Regents in every sport. Volleyball, soccer, basketball, water polo and now softball. Regents in the House!

  • SL ALum

Yes the Regents have had an outstanding year in all sports. We also have track this spring, where St. Lucy’s historically has some of the top teams and performers in the area.

  • dutch rennert

Fred, either you’re smoking something funny or your meds aren’t working, look at who Duarte got worked over by in the tournament last week, 3rd rate teams just killed them, evidently you watch the games from the parking lot with rose colored glasses on!

  • Fred Robledo

Look at the teams ranked below Duarte, they all have lost to teams they probably shouldn’t have. Even South Hills lost to Schurr, which using your analogy is also a “third-rate” team. It happens. None of those teams ranked below Duarte have anything resembling a dominant pitcher, and Duarte can swing with the best of them, so I’m comfortable with their rankings. BTW, would hardly call Woodbridge, the team you’re talking about, a third-rate team. Woodbridge can compete with anyone in our area. They have a few losses, but look who they lost too, teams like Mission Viejo in a close 2-1 loss. Mission Viejos is 12-3-1. They also lost a close game to 12-3 Long Beach Millikan. Give Duarte credit for scheduling up.

    Bohi-fan:
I thought after your boy’s daughter graduated last year you would have taken a low profile. Your tired and obnoxious rants about the coach have been posted here way too long. Get a life and quit living through your daughter. You don’t have the nads to talk to anyone to their face. Especially coach K. Stay in the outfield where you used to hang out..

Fred, Duarte is the cream of the crap that makes up the Montview league, I’ll give you that, but cmon man, the Falcons have played 2 pretty good teams, LBWilson and Woodbrige, they got whooped both times, Woodbridge put up 14 runs in an inning, do you know how poorly you have to play to allow that to happen? Is that an anomaly? maybe, but Wilson beat them 10-3, their record against weak teams, unblemished against good teams , not so bright.

c.m., Did I strike a nerve, I dunno who “my boy is” in which you are referring to but, it’s seems that Carlson Kool Aid sure is getting bitter, Hate to see what happens next year with no sugar to flavor that Kool Aid!…..have a wonderful season.

  • Coach Noob

    From the Urban dictionary:

    Noob:
    1. A noob is a person who really sucks at a game but refuses to learn/listen to people who are skilled. Many of them may have been playing the game for a while, but still suck at it. They usually have no hope.

    2. Noobs generally get extremely upset over being beaten and can not admit that they are bad at the game. Often they will accuse the skilled people of hacking.

    Another variation:

    n00bs:
    1. Person knows little and has no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own.

    2. A player who may or may not be new to a game, but insists on doing brainless things, especially things that hinder the team. Those who are defined as “n00bs” will also refuse to listen to words of wisdom or, even worse, berate those who try to help.

    hmmmmm….

You are right the only thing stopping the Regents from winning it all will be their head coach. A coach who gets a hitting coach for a team of girls who all have private coaches and a coach to call pitches (c’mon how many HS coaches have to bring someone in to call their teams pitches.) That team has 4 year starters on it who are very seasoned and talented. They have been winning in spite of him. People knew 4 years ago that this would be the year for the Regents. It’s a shame that these girls don’t have a REAL softball coach who can take them all the way. Instead they have someone who has tried to use his family name. Too bad for these girls that the powers that be have failed to provide them with an actual knowledgeable coach and instead rolled out a “poser” to run their program.

  • Bohi-Fan

LPAlum: You speak of wisdom and knowledge, I see a strong & talented team over there that all play on strong travel teams, You hit the nail on the head, I do think Chino Hills is the team to beat, I hope you guys give them a run for their money because it seems no one else is poised to do so in the Sierra.

  • Get Real

Let me see, how many high school coaches are there that don’t know how to coach and rely on the talent of the players, too many to name here. St. Lucy is no different than any other high school team that has its own internal challenges. Get off the coach’s back and enjoy what you have. If you don’t like his program, move to another school. I’m sure you didn’t sign up to attend St. Lucy to play softball. I bet the parents that cry about the coach are the parents who think they can run a team just because they coached a “rec” team from behind the back stop.

    I AGREE……………..HEAD COACH RUINING SAINT LUCYS SOFTBALL….
