UPDATE: Gladstone tournament final between Charter Oak and Pasadena postponed today because of rain, will meet on Thursday at 2 p.m. for title

Gladstone tourney update: On Tuesday, Charter Oak defeated Ayala 4-3 and Pasadena beat L.A. Baptist 6-0 to advance to Thursday’s championship at Gladstone High School at 2 p.m. The game was postponed on Wednesday because of rain.

Monday’s result: The Charter Oak High School baseball team put together its biggest offensive outburst of the season Monday and defeated Village Christian, 13-1, in the opening game of the Gladstone Tournament. The game was shortened to six innings due to the tournament’s 12-run rule.

Charter Oak, the Tribune’s No. 7-ranked team, jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

The Chargers will play Sierra League-rival Ayala today at 10 a.m. in the second game of the tournament.
