Sierra Vista’s Giovanni Rivera improved to 6-1 with a solid performance in which he allowed three hits and struck out three. Rivera went 4 for 5 with an RBI. The Dons (11-4, 6-1) also got offensive support from Chris Novello, who was 3 for 3 with two RBIs. in doubt with Sierra Vista scoring two first-inning runs and then five more runs in the fourth inning to break it open.
Randy Anaya was knocked out of the game in the fourth for the Warriors after allowing eight hits as La Puente dropped to 10-8 and 6-1 in league. The teams meet again on Friday at Sierra Vista High School at 3:15 p.m.
