17th Annual San Gabriel Valley All-Star Baseball Game returns to Mt. SAC on June 4 …. Nominations please

The 17th annual San Gabriel Valley All-Star Baseball Game is returning to Mt. San Antonio College, and will be played on June 4 at 7 p.m. Nogales High assistant Don Montanez and Temple City head coach Barry Bacon are in charge of this year’s game.

NOMINATION FORMS:

Attached is the San Gabriel Valley All-Star Nomination Form that coaches need to fill out and submit to Montanez or Bacon to be considered for the game.

All nominations are due by May 14!

  • League allstar games

    Fred – Reading Just Sayin’s entry, it occurred to me that a much better idea is to create league allstar teams and have them play each other. You could have the Hacienda, Sierra, Baseline and Valle Vista go after each other. I think that we would be fun and draw much more interest. Thoughts?

    The players should be selected on stats and impact they’ve had on their team and league and not based on last season, fact they are committed to D1 or who their travel team is. From what I have seen and heard by fans & coaches Chad Lee has had a rough year including a weak 2nd half of season thus far. There are other Damien players who deserve to play over Lee.

  • Hacienda

    My son plays in the Hacienda (not for DR). One kid I have a lot of respect for and should make this team is Dillon Goodwin from DR. The kid is a bright star on a team having a tough tough season. Even though they are not going to CIF, he shows up for every game and plays as if it is his last game. He is hitting in the 420s with a dozen extra base hits. He is really the only offensive threat on that team and gets pitched around constantly. I checked MaxPreps and he has 17 walks and an OBP of .543. The funny thing is that his offense may not be the best part of his game. He is the best defensive catcher in the Hacienda (ask GLendora). Teams never run on him and he has a ton of picks. A local pro scout went to watch the DR/Glendora game to see Glendora play. I asked about DR, he immediately said the catcher is for real. Don’t forget about him.
