The SGVN is proud to announce that longtime staffer Steve Ramirez is the new Star-News Prep Sports Editor

Steve Ramirez, who has been with the company more than 20 years, is replacing Miguel Melendez as the Star-News Prep editor. Steve was the Whittier Daily News prep editor last year, and serves many capacities at the SGVN, including college football writer, area college beat writer and auto racing. When it comes to football, he’s the most knowledgeable on out staff, despite what Aram might say (can we get an lol). In all the years I’ve worked with Steve, few work as hard as him. Please welcome him aboard. With Steve leaving the Whittier Daily News, weeklies reporter Eric Terrazas will replace Steve as the Daily News prep editor.

That’s company man Mr. Ramirez in the company shirt ..

Who has this shot? Joking around with “Mike the Uncle” on a golf trip. As you can tell, I’m soooo ready for football to start.

Congrats Steve. We are glad to have you on the Westside. I hope to see you at few Monrovia games. It’s nice to have our guy come from inside the trib family. You make sure you battle Fred to nail on the 2 minute drills. I think Aram is a undercover Monrovia homer so he is good. Anyways. I wanted to be the first Westsider to Welcome you.

GATO, LEGENDARY??? hahahah… good one and trying to get on Steve’s leg won’t help you!hahahah… Tell Coach Schuster, AZUSA, says A BIG A HELLO!

  • Fred Robledo

I’m thrilled for the Star-News because Steve is always on top of things, loves covering all sports and will love the football traditions at Muir, Monrovia, St. Francis, Rio Hondo Prep, etc, etc, the coaches will absolutely love him.

Steve let me help you out early the running back out of Muir Andreece Brown will be a force to recon with this year, he will surprise a lot of people now that Holmes is gone Brown will show what he’s made of.

  • What about Miguel

Whenever a change like this happens, we never get to know what the departed guy is going to do. We always hear happy talk about how great it is to have the new guy taking over, but almost never are told why the old guy left. What’s the deal with Melendez? Is he irrelevant and not to be cared about just because he’s no longer with the company?

  • Easy big fella

Miggy announced some time ago he was leaving the paper and going to law school.

Pasadena folks you are sooooo lucky. Maybe you might two stories every month.

  • Pasadenian

    reality

LOL i hope we get more than two stories a month.

  • Don

OK Steve, first assignment here is a nice feature on former Alhambra HS QB Dominic Breazeale who I see is boxing in London, (unless there is another Dominic Breazeale)… anyway, get hot.

This could be as big as the time that Don Prudhomme had to decide between Lucas and Wynn.

  • Star coverage

Miguelito would cover 1 female event for every 10 male HS sporting events. Let’s hope Steve does a better job. Good luck.
