Saturday Morning Quarterback: Bishop Amat smacks Servite, 40-23; West Covina, Los Altos roll; El Monte in thriller over Baldwin Park

Bishop Amat whips Servite 40-23, Game Story: Bishop Amat felt comfortable entering the season at just about every spot except quarterback, where junior Koa Haynes was taking over for Rio Ruiz after a few shaky starts replacing the injured Ruiz last season.
Those fears are gone.
Haynes showed no signs of nervousness at all, not even with seven-time Trinity League champion Servite visiting Kiefer Stadium in the opener for both schools and fresh off the memory of the Friars’ beatdown over the Lancers last season by 35 points.
Haynes completed 14 of 21 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a 9-yard touchdown in the Lancers’ 40-23 victory Friday.

Check out the Inland Insider’s highlights and postgame interviews on Bishop Amat’s 40-23 whipping over Servite ..

Friday’s Results
Bishop Amat 40, Servite 23 -- It’s about time Amat thrilled fans with another step-up victory and what a junior debut for QB Koa Haynes and the Lancers’ D. Chino Hills, you’re up next.
West Covina 34, Covina 0 — It’s about what you expected, Bulldogs up 21-0 at half then cruising.
Mountain View 10, Alhambra 6 – In some ways, this is the biggest shocker of the night, maybe even bigger than Amat.
Chino Hills 41, Arlington 20 -- Chino Hills warms up before its home date next week with Amat with an easy win over Arlington.
Los Altos 33, Arroyo 6 — The Conquerors rolled all over the visiting Knights, which shows what a great job they’re doing coaching ‘em up in the Heights.
Ayala 46, Diamond Bar 17 — The Bulldogs appear to be much different than last year, but we’ll know for sure next week against Monrovia.
El Monte 44, Baldwin Park 41 — The Braves promised to air it out and they did, but the Lions held on with a pretty good offense of their own.
Diamond Ranch 22, Chino 14 — For a change, the Panthers get off to a quick start. Nothing like a more winnable schedule.
Duarte 46, Marshall 0 — Wouldn’t read too much into it, but it shows that the Falcons mean business this season.
Montclair 40, Ganesha 6 — Not surprised by the result, the Giants continue to struggle.
Great Oak 38, Claremont 14 – Really don’t know what to say about Claremont until they play a team we’re familiar with. I mean, it’s Great Oak.
Northview 33, Ontario 0 – All the whispers we’ve been hearing about the Vikings having a good team looked spot on tonight.
Notre Dame 47, Workman 7 — It could be another long season for the Lobos if they give up points like this.
Rowland 15, Nogales 6 – The Raiders needed a win in the worst way after a miserable 2011.
Salesian 22, Sierra Vista 0 – I’m more surprised the Dons didn’t score than giving up 22 points. In any case, not a good sign.
South Hills 33, Colony 28 — The Huskies rallied for a big win. Kind of surprising considering how they looked in last week’s scrimmage. Great debut for coach Albert Rodriguez.
Walnut 40, Don Lugo 21 – Robert Gonzalez rushed for 247 yards for the Mustangs.
Bassett 14, Keppel 0 – Big win for the Olympians.
Wilson 21, Bosco Tech 6 — After what the Wildcats have been through the last few years, any win is a good win.

Countdown to what can be either a massacre or one of the biggest upsets in H.S football. I believe Amat is like a 25 to 1 underdog.

  • Bulldogs have bite

I can’t wait for tonight! Goodluck to all SGV teams! I’m also very glad that Fox will also live stream webcast/archive Amat vs. Servite so that I may also watch that game later this weekend! Speaking of Fox’s prepzone live stream webcasts, they posted their schedule of webcasts up to week 6 here:
    http://www.foxsportswest.com/pages/prepzone_schedule

SGV Games of interest include Loyola at West Covina, Bonita at La Serna and Culver City at Bishop Amat.

  • Football follower

It all starts with the freshman teams AMAT freshman won yesterday 21-10 good things are coming for BA

  • Game Day

According to the current CIF ranking, Servite isn’t even good even to break the top ten, so this must be a game between two also-rans, not the titanic matchup being hyped here.

But thank God you’re hyping something…the Whittier blog is as quiet as a church, with Father Terrazas not allowing any murmurs from the pews.

  • Fred Robledo

Depends on which rankings you look at, MaxPreps has Servite No. 15 in its all-encompassing Southern Section rankings of all divisions

  • one game at a time

This game will be much closer than what people are lead to believe. Servite lost a lot of key players to graduation and the QB is untested.

    Silence is golden.

    Go big Blue!

  • GP-

If you show up at keifer at 6 pm…where do park, and can you still get in game?

  • Margarita bill

the thing i love about this game is Amat us so afraid of a team that they can very well beat and beat easily. Fred i would has said your doing a brilliant job of making Amat look like they have little chance but when you pick Servite then i thought Fred really doesnt do his research on teams. Servite this year is an average trinity league team they lost a lot of players and if any of you haven’t noticed Servite isn’t even ranked in the top 10 in the pac5 this year. My guess is Fred is setting everyone up for the so called big surprise when Amat wins, well freddy boy you can’t fool someone like me that actually watches pac5 football all year long. Servite will finish behind us(SM) and Mater dei but dont get me wrong Servite is still very discipline and solid but this is a down year for them. Im not taking anything away from Amat this will be a big victory for the Lancers but again this is a down year for Servite as well as it is for Amat so ill be the first to predict Amat wins the game by 1 point 28-27

  • Fred Robledo

Margarita, you don’t pay attention .. I like Servite, but predicted a much closer game than last year and two, though neither is ranked, Servite is closer to a top ten ranking than Bishop is in the Pac-5.

  • Darth Vader…

    Lancers….I am your Father!

Here we come…Black Friars will take over La Puente tonight! Hide your mujeres, nios, and your Taco Trucks! We’re hungry to show the PAC 5 who Servite is and can do. Sorry Amat…you’re the lamb that must be slaughtered tonight!

I predict Black Friars 35 – Amat Lancers 20. But it won’t be that close!

    Black Power!!!

  • Valley athletics

Servite might of lost key players but they still have a good line and 3 good running backs . Servite is a top 10 team when it comes down to it . No need to down play there level in order to make amats loss look bad or win not look that impressive . @ margarita bill . Where the 2 players who transferred to mission viejo from Santa margarita key players? I heard it was a rb and receiver .or are they just another player who left for playing time.

  • Spartan 03

As much as it sucks, if Amat is to win tonight I can already see the Amat haters saying that Amat beat a below average, unexperienced Servite team. Servite is still a powerhouse that will make its way back into the top 10 of the PAC5. Another excuse they beat them would be that Servite was gelling together at the time and was not firing on all cylinders.

As much as I dislike Amat because of our rivalry, I am still rooting for the SGV Team. Good luck to all the SGV Teams tonight.

  • GP-

If Amat wins tonight, everyone will have to eat 3 crow tacos from Lanceritos in La Puente!!! Stand behind your words SGV, No matter what the outcome. I still got bishop to lose by 3 tds…i’ll eat my tacos if they win. This would be the biggest win in the SGV until playoffs.

  • 12th man

Well! We know one thing for sure! Amat has a better defense than Loyola! Harvard Westklake dropped 27 points on them last night & kept it close until the 4th quarter..If Amat becomes one dimensional & doesn’t throw down the field..It could be a long night!..Haynes will have to be on his horse all night & should probably roll out on every pass play instead of taking a deep drop..But the question in everone’s mind will be can Amat defense stop “Eteaki” RB for Servite..This kid is a beast! He’s much bigger & faster than last year & has breakaway speed when he hits the gap..

Dont believe all the nonsense about Servite having a down year..That school is crazy loaded with talent..If one guy goes down there’s 3 more just like him ready to go in at any time..
Sometimes demographics play a big part on how a team is structured athletically wise..There is really no soft spot in Servite..But I would test there secondary & force them to make a play..Thats all for now~ Good Luck Lancers!!

  • Dan

I think we have two fairly evenly matched teams here, Amat is not nearly as bad as some haters are making them out to be and Servite, with all their graduation loses, is not the juggernaut of the past three years. Going into Kiefer on Friday nights is always dangerous for even some of the top rated teams in the Southland, this game is too close to call but since the game is at Kiefer Stadium, I’ll take Amat in a close one.

  • AMAT 73

Good luck to all the teams in the SGV tonight for well played and injury free games.

To The Men in Blue , stay focused and play hard and leave nothing on the field tonight .All eyes are on you, play tough and make us proud. It all starts tonight .
    AMAT WILL SHINE .

  • Important opener

This game may very well determine one of the wild card spots for the Pac-5 playoffs. Remember, the Serra only has 2 guaranteed playoff spots this year.

  • one game at a time

Tonight’s victory will keep the haters quiet for awhile. It was all Amat tonight. Servite thought they were gonna own the Lancers, but it was the Lancers who gave it to them all night. Kudos to the Defense, Sal Velasquez, Prieto, Camargo and Daniels are studs on defense. Andrews, Blue and Haynes had a terrific night, along with Cook who had a nice TD pass.

Look out Chino Hills, CO, La Mirada and St. Paul…..like I said one game at a time!

    Good night folks!

St Paul loses 55-28 . Serra beats Norte dame 26-23.

  • Nada Noodles

Meanwhile Antonio Hull looked more like Cordell Hull in the battle for the covinas. Hope Salgado’s apparent knee injury was not too serious. Crowd was pouring out of the stadium at the start of the 4th Quarter. Anyway ol’ Cordell is going to have to really make it up during garbage time to make it look like he had a game.

Najera will return soon to QB. Nada’s story is next season.

  • cinnamon dolce

Workmans number 2 had a good game considering a big loss. 40 yard TD ru, a couple of mid range passes……. Los Altos beat up on Arroyo, nice warm up game. The MishMan is missing out.

  • 12th man

Amat defense looked better than it has in the last 3 years! Amazing job by the DL shutting down Servite all night long! Dont know the stats but i’m sure they kept the Fryars to under a 100 yds rushing..
Great job by the coaches mixing it up & coming out throwing..They kept the Servite defense off balance..Way to attack & expose the secondary!

Haynes played like a veteran..didn’t make any mistakes & pretty much dictated the game..I would still like to see him tuck it & run when there’s no one open instead of trying to thread the needle & force it in there..

Overall Amat looked solid! Not to knock down Rio..I think this year’s team is plasying with more unity & teamwork rather than playing around one player like last year..I blame that on all you sportswriters for giving to kid to much hype & added pressure! Keifer stadium was electric tonight! It’s been almost 2 seasons since the Dog Pound in the End Zone was packed & adrenaline rushed throughout the whole game..All I can say is Wow!!

    Good job Amat!!

  • A Punching Bag!

    @SP Fan,
Hey Asante, tell me how my a%@ taste. Does any St. Paul fan still think having a 5’8″ DT will win you games?

  • jcaz

    Note on Amat

Margarita Bill, you seem to have called it, but even if Servite isn’t as big and bad as they have been in the past, I don’t expect them to come in 3rd in the Trinity League.

Anyways, ya, big win for Amat, and while I did mention that when ever a team plays a team the second time around, that they usually do much better than the first time. In fact, I even gave the example of that Notre Dame blow out loss that one year only to have Amat come back the next and totally crush the Scarlet Knights.

I honestly think that Lancers really surprised a lot of people tonight, not so much because of the fact that they won the game, but because of the relative ease in which Amat just scored on these guys.

Of course, tun overs were the key to that fast start, but the way Amat capitalized on those turn overs were breath taking.

I think the only concern I have at this point if there is any, is in the depth of the team. One of our running backs got hurt on one of the plays and yet he was back out there again on a punt return a few downs later. The kid was still limping from the earlier hit, so why was he out there ?

Anyway, non sense, I think 73 and I just made a killing on those bets, and how many bus’s were out there again ? LOL

  • GoAmat

WOW. WE DID IT! CASE CLOSED!! WAY TO GO AMAT!!! The only one that can beat us is ourselfs!!

  • Tried and True Win or Lose

An Amat fan since the 70′s one thing remains the same, Friday nights.

Over the years with children attending I began watching the blogs and the trash talk. I have to say to all the teams this year: play well, play hard and play safe. Football in SGV and the talk on the Trib blogs makes our valley a bit of a small hometown. Congrats to the Mighty Blue and Gold, know that I cheered you at last year’s Servite game and again in this one! Hard earned respect and you deserve it.

To the talkers, your time is now but remember it is all about the kids, where they end up next year, and the memories they make this year. Keep it clean and decent remembering we are all from SGV and it’s a privilege to have such great teams.

BTW: when Seniors are asked about their favorite memory from high school it will probably be 2012 when we beat Servite.

  • Coach Bear Byrant

To Margarita,Darth Vader, and big mouth ,Not since 1995. Where do I deliver your Crow Tacos.
Go ahead and give some excuses. Servite has a down year, they lost a lot of players blah blah blah blah blah.
For you Fred, you were kissing so much butt to the Servite Coach. You complemented him on his boys J. Jackson drill routine. Amat stuck around to watch this silly show. But just for Amat’s victory celebration, they left. Poor sports.
I LIKE TO HEAR TRASH FROM YOU AMAT JEALOUS HATERS!

  • Servite showed no class

I hope everyone took notice how servite left the field while the victorious lancers celebrated with their alma mater. Poor sports. No class. It starts and ends with the coach. Take notice of their selfish ways. The tradition of respecting the winning teams alma matter goes back along ways. Servite your lack of class is a black and blue mark on your program. Never will I sit and watch your post game cheer leading.

  • QB Coach

I post this on The Ready or Not Thread and got a bunch of BS from GP.August 15
    QB Coach said:
I watched Servite several times this summer and they still have a lot of unanswered questions at the QB spot. They have a soild returning back and will be able to run the run but this could be a year where they have not been as balance as the past.
With that being said Coach H and staff are really efective at scheming against one demonstional teams. Where BA struggles most is trying to to take away both pass and run because they haven’t been deep enough to do it efffectively against top tier teams.
Excpet this to be a better game than last year and dont be surprise if Coach M can hold Servite down long enough to pull an upset.

Shut your pie hole boy I’m the only non Amat fan that said Amat was going to win where was your prediction before this game huh I’m Pretty sure it was just like the rest of the Amat fans you had no faith in your team now shut up and enjoy this victory it’s 1 and hopefully for the lancers it keeps going but for BS fans like you you give the Lancers a bad image. Besides My team is number 1 boy so hold off on the champagne you have more games

    Dear BA #1-
are you serious man? Get out of La Puente? People in La Puente don’t even want to live in La Puente….except those fat, lazy, liberal Raider and Amat fans. Long live unemployment in the Raider Nation, and long-live double-seated stadium for all those fat asses wearing Amat blue.

  • bbin91741

    Margarita Bill-
25-1 odds? You’re out of your mind. Servite can’t win CIF/State titles every year. Every now and then, quarterbacks graduate.

  • sgv baby

Arroyo just couldn’t get it going against the BIGGER/stronger Los Altos team. D7 vs D11. BIG difference or over matched.
Week ZERO was a great start.
Week ONE is gonna be Awesome. Can’t wait many many GREAT GAMES. The FISHBOWL vs The Chino Hills team and tons of SGV teams going at it.
    GOOD LUCK TOO ALL
Where will you be tweeting from BIG FRED?

  • Hey Jcaz

Jcaz- None of the players that came off the field last night were “hurt” They were all cramping up from not drinking enough water. The cooler weather made them think they didnt have to drink as much. No one was actually treated for a potential injury. Thats why all the student trainers worked on all the stretching and not the actual team doctors. They will be get a few players back from minor injuries over the next 2 weeks.

  • New York

Great win Amat! Once again Amat owns what will most likely be the SGV’s biggest victory. Add it to the recent list: Orange Lutheran, St. Boneventure, Mater Dei (playoffs).

I grew up when Amat was winning Division I titles and Servite was winning Division 5. So I don’t have a sense of shock hearing about Amat beating up on Servite. This also goes to show what a poor method it is to simply look at last year’s results in order to predict this season.

Also, it is great to see Ayala and South Hills do well. I would love everyone on Monrovia’s schedule to finish their seasons 13-1, with that one loss to Monrovia…lol.

  • Not Since 1995

Once again the Lanceritos shoot their wad prematurely…!

This will be the highlight of your 2012 season and Joe Amat will add this meaningless win to his list of meaningless wins when it doesn’t matter…!

    Not sense,
Thanks for hating on us @ Amat.
Want to give shout out to dog pound!!!.
The boys in blue played as a team. Not one player had big numbers. This is what happens when you play as a team. Servite is just a circus show. They had a great opening act and closing also. But their game was absent, overrated!!!!. They only had two buses. Third bus was cheerleaders and fourth bus was a minivan full of coaches.

A couple of things here and that is that I know for a fact that I saw at least three of Amats layers go down during the game last night. Maybe on or even two of them were cramping up but the first one that went down really got pounded.

Look, bottom line is that I was hoping that what happened to the Cathedral team a year or so ago, wasn’t going to start happening to the Lancers. No one likes to see injuries Bubba.

BTW, ya, what was hat all about anyway ? Servite just gets up and walks off to the corner of the end zone and just completely disrespects Amat. Man, WTF as that all about anyway ??

Really, that’s not cool, but it wasn’t the first time a “major” program did that to us. If anyone of you recall, that game against LB Polly at Veterans stadium a few years ago. Amat almost won that game, and the Jackrabbits did the same thing. No class at all, and to make it even more messed up, many of the Amat fans applauded Servites Hut drill when they were done.

One last thing, nonsense, your an idiot.

  • JMO

  • one game at a time

First off, I pay no attention to No Nonsense, I’m totally convinced the dude is an escaped mental patient.

After last night’s game, this Amat team is a much more cohesive team than it was the last two years. It’s not that Servite is that bad, it’s that Amat is that much better. Their D will definitely win games, like what I saw last night by literally shutting down the run game.

Servite RB Etiaki who ran all over Amat last year was literaly shut down, that’s how good Amat’s defense is this year. And Pauu a BYU QB commit was sacked 4 times and was running for his life. Good job D!

Chino Hills QB Simko and the loss of WR Austin, well let’s say good luck, cuz that Amat D will be in your face!

And the biggest news is that all that hype with St. Paul this and St. Paul that, how was that 55 points stuffed in your faces slime!!

Charter Oak your new untested QB and not having Scoby in the backfield….let’s just say this game will be very interesting cuz Amat will come in your house and WILL make a statement to the rest of the SGV!

  • Fred Robledo

No one could have predicted with any certainty what Amat did to Servite last night. Except for some early penalties, it was a complete game in every way imaginable. I said on the two-minute drill if Haynes had the type of game that could give him confidence, it could set him off the rest of the season. He was much more in control and confident than the few games I saw him last year. He has an arm and he’s smart, he made lots of good decisions. I thought Amat mixed up the run and pass much better than last year. Blue is going to be a beast and Darren Andrews is a game-changer. But you have to give it to Amat’s defense. They flew to the ball and and barely gave up anything rushing, except on big runs by Servite’s QB on broken plays.

This is why you go with Amat as No. 1 in the area, they might not always win these type games, but they have a better chance of pulling it out than anyone else, and have proved it over the years and again in 2012.

The area games against Chino Hills, Charter Oak and St. Paul are completely different. This time it’s Amat playing with the bulls-eye, the loose feeling it had in a nothing-to-lose game against Servite should favor CHills, COak and St. Paul.

It will be interesting to see what type of energy Amat brings against the Huskies, Chargers and St. Paul, but I will say this, the team I watched last night felt like a group that loves playing with each other. You don’t always need six, seven, or eight D-1 players to be good, you can be good playing great together. If you don’t believe that, just look at what little old Rio Hondo Prep did to Arcadia last night.

Week 1 is next….C’mon West Covina, it’s your turn to take down Loyola.

  • Lance R

All I can say is Big Games bring out the best of Amat teams past and Present when they are played at Kiefer. Yes we have had some losses in big games there but under Hagerty his teams really step up when playing in a big game. Last nite was no different, This Friar team true has lost some key men to graduation but have returned some good ones as well. Amat returned a a very good group this year and as Amat history has shown they are slow starters out of the gate most of the time in game one of the season. Let’s not get ahead of ourselfs here it was Servite and it was one game and only one game. One game at a time Lancers and we will be fine. To Aram we are talking this year and so was Fred. Fred had every right putting them ranked number one. Fred you look genius right about now. Aram please show some respect to our Lancers this week they deserve it.

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

I will reserve my final comments about this for the Tuesday show.

Fred’s Tribune and my All-Encompassing rankings are TOTALLY different. I am considering teams from all three areas we cover. He is considering only the Tribune.

As was pointed out on last week’s show, my rankings show that Amat would have been No. 1 in the Tribune area if I was making those rankings. And as I said on the show “you can bet your a$$ if Bishop Amat beats Servite, I’m moving Bishop Amat up to No. 1.”

Anyway, for now I will just sit back and watch Fred and the rest of you kiss butt and try to get back in the good graces of the Amat faithful. Bandwagons are an amazing thing!

  • Charger Dad

With no game tonight for our boys we took a little caravan to Keifer stadium. I wish we had gotten there earlier, because there were no more seats. We squeezed in with the Servite side eventually. I didn’t think it was going to be a blowout the way it was, but I am not surprised. Amat has a very good team. All the blogs and the nonsense that people write are total trash, and haters just hating. I am totally looking forward to the showdown with Amat. I hope they beat Chino Hills, so that when we beat Amat, people will really know we are the best in the valley, and a top overall team. I am not saying we will easily beat Amat, because I saw a very good team last night. But I see the weaknesses, and I know our coaches saw them to. We will be ready, and that game will be a war.

Servite was ranked number 4 in the southern section on the fox sports rankings . They lost some key players like Cody Pittman and butch pauu , but had an experienced line with 2 D1 recruits , etiaki also a d 1 recruit plus byu commit qb . On defense they have 4 d1 players . servite plays rancho cucamonga next week , bishop gorman and the tough league .will see if servite can bounce back and make playoffs . Amat has no weak teams in there schedule .alemany is ranked in the top ten in the southern section rankings in fox sports sight . While crespi and notre dame where in top 20 .

  • Front page??

Really Fred – Amat wins a week 0 game against Servite and you put them on the front page of the newspaper?? Are you going to name your first born Lancer?

  • anon

Robledo, you still sticking with west co as no. 1 in southeast? you gotta admit, LMs win over st. paul is impressive!

  • Wow, great QB!

What do you get when you have a student athlete with a 4.0 gpa and athletic ability? A QB who can read defenses, make good decisions, throw 3 TD’s and supplement his team to win a big game! Great job Haynes, we have been waiting for a great QB to take this team to the next level. Glad you have arrived front and center. Great defense, great running and passing game = an unpredictable powerhouse!

  • Anonymous

I know this is a little off subject but did anyone see how D.Holmes jr. did last night. I can tell you this to all who doubted him and was saying he’s on a different level now well he made it look easy go to youtube and watch him.

  • Huskies #1

    Congratulations Amat!

Now get ready to get your ass kicked all the way back to LaPuente!

Huskies will be ready. So enjoy your tacos this morning! No soup for you next Friday!

  • Football Fan

The southeast division looks to be very competitive this year. West Covina and La Mirada look ahead of the rest but cant forget about La Serna that had a great first game. Diamond Ranch as well as Los Altos had great showings. Dominguez lost but they played a tough St. John Bosco. Next week will be a a great indicator of how good West Covina and LM are

  • Real talk

Where is Not since???? Is ok??? I hope he didn’t lock himself in a room somewhere… Wow…. St.whatever got beat down. Was Scoby playing???

  • Valley athletics

@ real talk .scoby rushed for 63 yards on 17 carries . La mirada had more than 300 yds of rushing offense.

  • Fred Robledo

Anon, of course I’m sticking with West Covina in the Southeast, but do admit La Mirada’s win was very impressive. There isn’t the gap between 1 and 2 that I thought was there. But we’ll no more after the Bulldogs take on Loyola this week, which is where I’m setting up camp.

I don’t know what’s with Aram’s comment including me in any sort of bandwagon or kissing anyone’s whatever. I thought Amat would lose and was impressed how they handled the night.

For whatever reason, whenever I make Amat No. 1 in the Valley, it’s some sort of bandwagon pick when in reality, they would be top-ranked in our area by most people and computers that make polls. It’s not like I’m going out on a limb. Even though it’s been written here that I’m not picking Amat to win the Pac-5, Serra League title or return to the power they were in the 80s and 90s, what they did last night and what they’ve done in recent years against the top programs in Southern California is why I continually give them the nod over other teams in the SGV when it comes to rankings. I’ve been consistent with that explanation over the years, so if that translates to bandwagon to some, so be it.

In no way does that mean they’re going to beat Chino Hills or Charter Oak, those are two very good games and I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Amat lost. Each game presents its own challenge and match-ups mean everything. But if you’re asking me to pick a winner, the edge, just as in years past, still has to go to Amat.

BTW, while I missed picking Amat over Servite, I nailed Rio Hondo Prep beating Arcadia. I love those Kares, most fundamentally sound team year in and year out that we have.

  • QB Coach

Come on Fred give a little love below is another one of my comments fro the Ready or Not Servite is coming on August 15.

    QB Coach said:
GP Can’t belive all the hype. There is still a QB battle going on at Servite. Not saying either can’t or wont step up but expect issue game 1. Servite has always been a run first but counts heavy on timely and effective passing. I think Servite will be more one dementional and wont be as powerfully as they have been over the last 5 years.
Coach M is getting another opportunity expect him to make it close.

  • scmc (aka smallcitymc)

I watched the game online and have to say that I’m impressed with Haynes improvement. Not so much with his confidence, which difinitely helps, but his throwing mechanics. It’s obvious that he has been working on them, because they are NOT quite the same as last year.

I don’t really care for across the grain throws. They take more time to develop, which in turn slows the release and allows the defense to read the throws (read: intercept the ball). They are very difficult to do well. When done right, however, they are a thing of beauty

It seems to me that this year Haynes has a quicker release and more pop in his throws, most likely because he seems to be setting his rear foot like every good quarterback should. He also seems to follow through with the throws much better, which leads to a more accurate and polished throw.

Time will tell how good this team is, but it looks promising.

  • General Turgidson

    To “SCMC”:

You are another sorry byproduct of the ESPN culture. Somehow, we got to this place where some guy in a suit on tv is talking about “throwing mechanics,” “throwing motion,” and all other manner of horse manure, and we listen like it is gospel. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not. Truth is, if they knew the “secret” they would be winning national titles and super bowls instead of being another chump on tv.

    Planting his foot? Really?

I’m not saying these things don’t matter. What I am saying is that football cannot be reduced to a series of mechanics, or a text book behavior chain. There is a mystical element, an intangible “something” that exists within good teams and within good players. No one knows what that is, nor should they. It’s why they call them intangibles, or the “it” factor.

Sorry ingrates like you “SCMC” try to get attention and flaunt your “knowledge” by reducing quarterback to a bunch of techniques. It’s not that simple.

Btw… no one is impressed by your breakdown of quarterback, no matter how “enlightened” it may be compared to the rest our opinions (us simpletons).

    Grow up.

    Thus spake,

    THE GENERAL

  • Real talk

@Fred Servite vs Amat is a hard pick. I had Amat…. But by all means not by that much. I have said Amat is capable of winning most if not all of the games I have seen them in. The questions I had for this season was 1. Will they come out in ball out mode or tight mode? Now I could put a check on the ball out mode. 2 is Amat a front running team will they get overwhelmed by momentum? I think momentum is a funny thing in sports I have seen good teams get beat by it. 3. How will Amat play on away games? We all know that Amat at home is a whole different story. I think if what you are saying I what I heard some of the players say on the after the game comments that playing as a much closer group…that will make a big diffence. So 2. And 3. Still have to be answered, but I like what I am seeing so far. I also wanted to see how Haynes took a hit and from what I seen last night he is good to go. Good win Amat…. @valley wow… and all this talk about Scoby I wish the kid well, but for all the people on his sack let the kid play against better competition before you put this kid in the spot lite. I had questions about Blue and did not say he is this and he is that, but from what I seen yesterday he is the real deal I just don’t like to see him running up the middle so much get him to the outside and let him do his thing he has good vision and cuts. And to Hags I like the the play calling keep up the good work. I’m out……

  • Hags for President

Give some props to Coach Hagerty and the Amat Coaching Staff!

They had the team ready and they had a good game plan. Defense was impressive and the Offense was too.

    You’re starting strong!

Let’s make the adjustments needed and starting focusing on our next opponent!

    On Blue!

Please Please Fred, dont allow anyone to come on here and say they had Amat winning that game (real talk) your lying i only seen one post that said amat was going to win and it wasnt by you.

  • School is in Session

Elijah Asante, you’re no longer coaching in the city section, welcome to CIF-SS Pac 5 and Mission League football where you can’t just win with athletes because every team has them but games are won by good coaching. It’s gonna be a long season and St. Paul fans, players, alumnus, and administration clearly do not have the patience. Looks like your job will come down once again to the St. Francis game even though Harvard-Westlake and Cathedral will be no push overs this year.

Amat75 come on really? Lol. I posted when margarita Bill said Amat was going to get their ass kicked I said it was going to be Amat all day. Stop coming on here faded. But your right I did put a score like you pros do. I can’t see how people do that anything can happen in football. I’m I

the thing i love about this game is Amat us so afraid of a team that they can very well beat and beat easily.

  • scmc

Truth be told, I don’t think many people had Amat winning this game. But once again Amat comes through. Servite is not as strong as last year, but I don’t believe they are a push over either.

Huskies #1, How would you like your crow tacos, in a soft shell or hard shell?

There’s a place in Anahiem where Servte lives called Disneyland. In Disneyland there is a place called fantasyland(At least when I went there as a kid). Servite came to La Puents still thinking about Disneyland. This morning they woke up to reality. Are you still dreaming #1?

    Damien/Mater Dei Scrimmage

Everywhere Damien was said to be strong they looked weak and the one spot they were said to be weak proved to be consistently strong. Was this because of lack of talent? Not at all, Mater Dei came in 2 busses and bother were packed. My guess would be they have an 80 man roster as there JV team was already there. I have seen Damiens skill players and they are very fast and talented. They came across a Mater Dei team that was much bigger, faster, and more athletic. I dont know much about other OC teams, but Mater Dei looks to be a juggernaut.

Damiens offensive line could not hold a block at all. Mater Deis defensive line was much bigger and faster and kept penetrating through stopping run plays in the backfield and disrupting Gage Pucci.

Damiens secondary was consistently getting beat over the top for big pass plays by much more explosive receivers.

Damiens defensive line looked impressive which has two sophomores. They were able to get penetration and disrupt things in the backfield. This seemed to be Damiens strong point.

I have seen Damiens skill players and I think they are the best in the valley, but Mater Deis skill players were even better. This assessment isnt to say they are going to have a horrible year as they are not going to see this kind of talent until deep in the playoffs. I have seen Damien practice and think they are going to have a great year and be in the fight for the Sierra League title.

The majority of the scrimmage was scripted. At the very end they played 1 quarter of unscripted live football. It wasnt until the live football with a play clock that the Damien offensive seemed to develop a rhythm. Running a scripted scrimmage is hard to gauge how a team is going to fair in a real game as there is no real play clock with a lot of interruptions and no rhythm can be established.

Next week Damien will be put to the test as they will be hosting Orange Lutheran. I heard from a Mater Dei parent that they got an assistant coach from Air Force as their new head coach who is now running the triple option offense. So, they are not going to be seeing the power style offense they see against Mater Dei. It will be interesting to see how well Damiens defense can do against this style offense.

Now to finish with a little talk about Amat. Mater Dei parents were in awe as they were getting updates about the Servite game. Mater Dei fans knew very well who was beating Servite and were questioning if Amat was starting to rebuild their program to the Amat of old.

PS. Got to meet Lakers Head Coach, Mike Brown, at the JV game as his son plays for Mater Dei. Nice person to help feed money into the athletic program.

  • School is in Session

    @Spartan 03,
Your observation does not sit well for St. Paul next Friday when they host Mater Dei, sounds like they will put up more than 55 points. If Scoby thought it was tough getting 67 yards behind that OL vs LM, wait till Friday.

  • It doesn’t matter

Not like it matters but Spartan 03 has no clue. Yes the scrimmaged was scripted but here are the facts. MD ones scored twice and Damien’s ones scored twice. MD twos scored twice Damien two’s scored Zero. End of Facts.
Opinion Damien’s defense looked solid and MD was not happy they couldn’t move at will. Damien OL which is their biggest question is still a concern. Well at least a concern for a very good MD defensive front.

    OC VASITY ARTICLE READS~

LA PUENTE — Servite coach Troy Thomas has led his teams to many an upset during a prolific seven-year tenure that has included a share of the Trinity League title in each season.

The surprise Friday wasn’t being on the other end of one, but rather how it wasn’t much in doubt.

In a result that will be felt throughout the CIF-SS Pac-5 Division, Bishop Amat of La Puente shocked Servite, 40-23, at Bishop Amat High in Friday’s season opener.

“We were never really in it,” Thomas said. “They beat us in every phase of the game tonight.”

The loss snapped the Friars’ 25-game winning streak against California teams in the regular season, their last loss coming to Edison in 2009. Amat leaned on superior speed and athleticism, jumping out to a 28-10 halftime lead while breaking free for three touchdowns of at least 23 yards.

“I know Amat from the ’90s,” Thomas said. “This is a typical Amat team. Last year I was very surprised by what happened. I expected a great game last year and I expected one this year.”

The Friars dominated the Lancers, 49-14, at Cerritos College a year ago. The two teams are longtime rivals that used to meet annually, first in the Angelus League from 1968-91, and then for five years in the Serra League from 2001-05.

“We feel like we’re as competitive as anybody and we play and practice like that,” Bishop Amat coach Steve Hagerty said. “There’s a tradition here and they live up to it. You never know what to expect (in the opener), but I felt there was an air of confidence with our kids.”

Servite junior Neil Pauu made his debut as the starting quarterback and completed 9 of 19 passes for 105 yards. The BYU commit also ran for 139 yards and a touchdown, but the Servite ground game was stifled otherwise.

Lancers quarterback Koa Haynes completed 15 of 23 passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Tailback Dionza Blue gained 108 yards on 15 carries.

Servite struggled from the beginning, fumbling on its second play from scrimmage. Amat capitalized with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Haynes to Darren Andrews.

Servite cut into a double-digit deficit when Pauu sliced through the Lancers defense for a 62-yard touchdown to make it 14-10 early in the second quarter. Amat quickly responded as Haynes hooked up with a wide-open Andrews in the second quarter for a 33-yard score.

Moments after Servite botched a punt, Amat took a 28-10 lead on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Haynes to receiver Joseph Cook.

A 40-yard touchdown from Pauu to Tony Brown in the third quarter cut the lead 28-17, but that was as close as Servite got.

  • Joe Amat

Funny sometimes how far perception is from reality. Throughout the touch football//beauty contest part of the season everyone was worried about Amat and the QB situation. If you noticed, he was rolling out, using play action, and the that of the run sets up the pass for Amat. That isn’t evident in 7on7 – nor is the effectiveness of how Amat’s front 7 mixes it up and allows the secondary (which was thought to be there strength) the opportunity to do their job even better.

    Even Freddie’s first paragraph says,

“Bishop Amat felt comfortable entering the season at just about every spot except quarterback, where junior Koa Haynes was taking over for Rio Ruiz after a few shaky starts replacing the injured Ruiz last season.”

The “perception” is he had a “few shaky starts”…but the *reality* is he only started ONE game his sophomore year – against Notre Dame in Week 9 (with a playoff spot on the line). He was 17/22 for 216 yds with 1TD & 1 INT. Plenty of sophs would kill for a “shaky start” like that in their 1st Pac5/Serra League appearance.

The reality is, as Hags said, those on the inside knew a little more about Koa than those on the outside.

Good start – but to turn around and step in a cow pattie will make it a wasted week, so the Lancers need to keep it rolling.

(I wonder if Aram thinks the CIF office spent the weekend figuring ways to give Amat “relief”)

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    Joe Amat,

Not true. I watched the replay of the Servite game and I saw Amat using some of the SAME plays it used in passing games. The second TD to Andrews is exactly a play I saw the team run in summer. There’s no denying Amat looked terrible oftentimes in passing games. And if you want to do some of your classic selective research you can go back and find where I said I’m not sure how much I’d worry about a running team like Amat looking bad in summer.

Anyway, about your CIF comment. If you’re thinking CIF bases its decisions about divisions on SEPTEMBER games, then you’re dreaming. We’ll get into this more on the Tuesday show. But just so you know, what happened on Friday wasn’t the playoffs. But you can add it to the St. Bonnies and O-Lu wins of past Septembers and stick it up there on that mantle of yours. Ya gotta have something on it, right?

  • My Pal Joey

Joey, so you’re saying one start isn’t a couple of shaky starts? How dare you Joe.

So the perception is Bishop Amat is coming back to the pack yet would the pack beat Servite, much less dominate? Seems easy enough to do right, especially in a down year. So is Troy Thomas also having a down year as well? Seems he holds Bishop Amat in high regard, but then is that his perception or his reality.

The perception is teams are down when players leave but who stupid is that? Teams are a reflection of their coach and Troy Thomas is a flat out stud. That’s what others don’t understand. In the PAC 5 the coaching level is off the charts

Much has been said of the Soph DBs from a few years ago who would do damage as seniors, well guess what-they’re seniors!!! Great win for them.

Speaking about perception isn’t there the perception that you need to star rather than get in line, or transfer multiple times, yet the reality is Blue proves all those others wrong. Good for him, still I’m surprised he didn’t transfer to CO when Scoby left town, lol.

One last thing Joey you might want to refrain from using (…)’s and (” “)’s because there seems to have the perception that makes you feminine when the reality is manhood isn’t that easily discerned.

  • One Who Knows

    To Joe Amat:

Don’t toot your horn too loud. Yes, it was a nice win and the Amat faithful should be proud. I too am impressed, as it was Servite. But Chino Hills is for real this year. Servite doesn’t have a Simko nor Austin. Austin will be fine, and CH will spread out Amat’s secondary. It may not be the Big Black Friars from Anaheim, but CH, in my opinion, is a more potent offense than the friars. I’m not sure the defense can hold down Amat’s offense, so this will be a high scoring affair. I predict CH 42 to Amat’s 38.

  • Serra league

Serra league will stay in the PAC 5 because of the balance top to bottom . When the marmonte league got moved to the PAC 5 most of the teams in the league did not want to move up. Thousand oaks coach said only 3 teams where ready for the PAC 5 and the rest are not . Let’s see in a couple years what they do about that . The inland division needs to put vista , corona centennial , rancho , rev and upland in one league in order to put them in PAC 5 . Problem is all the good teams are spread out in the inland so any inland league moving to the PAC 5 I don’t see happening . Vista is the top team there but the rest of vistas league is probably weaker than the sierra who everyone claims Is the weakest league . Thats my opinion .

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    Joe Amat,

Come on Joe baby, time to step up your game like your Lancers. No more selective memory. Straight facts!

“The “perception” is he had a “few shaky starts”…but the *reality* is he only started ONE game his sophomore year – against Notre Dame in Week 9 (with a playoff spot on the line). He was 17/22 for 216 yds with 1TD & 1 INT. Plenty of sophs would kill for a “shaky start” like that in their 1st Pac5/Serra League appearance. ”

Uh, didn’t Koa start against Garfield?

And yeah, Loyola wasn’t a start, but he was in that game once Rio got hurt.

  • Mustang power

I don’t see any mention on of one of the valleys top performances by walnut s Robert Gonzalez who rushed for 277 yds and 4 tds . I know mustangs are not a top team and they played a weak don lugo . But hey it is still tough to do against a team of the same caliber .

  • A Whole Roll of Toilet Paper

By the looks of Aram’s recent aggressiveness on both blogs (including that terrible thread on “ass kissing”) it’s obvious that he’s not happy about having his ass handed to him by Fred and being forced to put Bishop Amat at #1 in his all-encompassing list.

It’s sad to see Aram go from being cool to behaving unprofessionally and now he is starting to act like a straight up, temper tantrum proned child.

Fred schooled him on the reality that the greatness of a team is not defined by the number of D-1 recruits but how that team plays as a cohesive unit. Aram’s response has been disturbing to say the least.

Aram has now gone on the offensive by not only attacking Fred but also attacking some faithful bloggers like Joe Amat! You call that journalism? I don’t.

I think Aram’s blog as well as his career at the San Gabriel Valley Tribune are coming to a sunset. I think it’s time he move on to greener pastures. I think he should at least give up his blogging. The SGV does not need two blogs and Fred has done a great job covering all that needs to be covered for football. Perhaps Aram should stick to being behind the scenes? NAAAH!

If I wrote this on facebook, I know it would get a few hundred “likes.” But this is not facebook so it is up to you, SGV Preps blogging community, to step up and write as I have written and voice your concerns about Aram’s behavior.

His response of course will be one of denial and will claim to have no idea as to what I am writing. But we all know the truth and we can all read the evidence. Aram likes to give nicknames (which have been really, really bad). So let us give him a nickname as well.

I vote that Aram’s new nickname be simply, “The Giant Ass” because that’s exactly how he has been behaving.

And FRED….DON’T U DARE DEFEND HIM OR GIVE US THAT BS “WE RESPECT EACH OTHER” OR “IT’S ALL FUN N GAMES” OR “A LITTLE CONFLICT IS GOOD FOR THE BLOG” BLAH BLAH BLAH.

The Giant Ass deserves to be wiped…from cyberspace.

    I don’t agree.
Aram is good at what he does. He fuels the fire and gets the blogs jumping. Sure, I don’t agree with everything he says but then again lively discussions is what the blogs are all about; IMHO.
I don’t want to come here and see everyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya. If that is what I wanted I would go to Mid Valley Sports ( which are as impartial as a man in the desert being given a choice of drinking water or sand ); again, IMHO.
One thing unique about his and Freds blogs compared to others out there is that they will post all comments from people and then fire right back at them. Other “Blogs” would just delete your posts and you would never see the controversy.
Get rid if the big man? NAAAH. Fred and Aram going at it are some of the best parts of football season!
And don’t worry about Joe Amat. That is one SHARP individual and very capable of handling himself. I have seen it many times in the last 4 years.
Again, these are MY opinions and like always your mileage may vary.

    Toilet DOUCHE,

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

If you have a wife she should bitch slap you.

FC, Damien Dad, Stanford Dad, and “Roll of toilet paper”,

YES! We’re just days removed from Week 0 and I’ve already gotten you to tap out! What a cake you are. Couldn’t even make it to Week 1 before you started calling for my head.

Atta babe, try to get Fred and Joe Amat against me in hopes of organizing your protest parade down Azusa Ave., which will end in me resigning from the Tribune and moving to a small town in Iowa. Let’s see how far you can get with your latest rallying cry. Hopefully better than the many you’ve tried in the past.

Oh yeah, and what a great job Fred did of disgracing me by PICKING SERVITE!!!

  • Not So Fast My Friend

I see Chino Hills QB Matt Simko threw five touchdowns in his debut. For those previous posters (haters) and a few of the silent ones, I think there should be no doubt, he’s the real deal.

To bad Austin was out, but this Friday should be a good game between CH and Bishop Amat just the same. Looking forward to seeing Simko do his D1 level work (I’ll be at this game). Also, I’m looking forward to seeing the RB from Amat (Blue). It should be an exciting game and I’m thinking a high scoring one too.

I know some people have smashed Servite for being down this year, but Servite is Servite and a win against them is still a big deal. Congrats to Amat. I didn’t have them picked to win, but the kids met the challenge and certainly have Amat’s fan base fired up.

  • AMAT 73

First off congratulations to all the teams of the SGV , win or lose . Hopefully everyone escaped week 0 without any devastating injuries and are ready for this week .
How about those LANCERS !!!!! Great win on Friday with a complete game by the LANCERS . A few mistakes which no doubt will be corrected this week . Don’t know if it was jitters or just wanting to get off the ball and smack those Black Darth Vader Friars on their collective asses but too many mental mistake at the LOS . Either way the Men in Blue played all out and left nothing in the tank . Great game for Koa , well managed and thought out game plan . The Kid performed as we thought he would with a full summer of learning and working with the offense and knowing he is the QB . Loved the play calling and the defense , well LIGHTS OUT is a good description on how they played. That one win sent echo’s thru the OC and IE as to just what SGV football is all about . Great win for the SGV . But that win is behind us and now the focus is on CH . A very talented team who is looking to get back to the top of the Sierra and a tough opponent for AMAT . I am sure the staff and the players will be ready .

On this ongoing battle with Aram . For my part I have had some good jousts with Aram on AMAT football and other related issues from time to time . He is entitled to put out whatever he sees fit as he is the moderator . Remember whatever he posts as a blogger is open to scrutiny by all the bloggers and he is held accountable and has to take whatever we throw back if we feel he is just full of shiat . He stated early this year that this season he was pulling no punches and would call it as he sees it . Having a blog for the entire SGV area is great as we get feedback from all teams N,S,E,W and even bloggers out of the area such as Margarita Bill , Jefe , BraveDad and many other including the slimers , so to me it’s a much better place to discuss ( lmao ) one’s team with others from all the areas. Don’t know if that’s the lure but if you go on the other blogs Whittier , Star News the hit count doesn’t compare to the Huddle’s nor Fred’s blog so they must be doing something right . So for me ,to all the scribes , keep doing what you’re doing as you can see by the latest you do make an impact with what you guys post , be it good or bad it keeps the ball rolling . And by the way Fred did pick Servite so how in the hell can you call him a homer. Any true AMAT homer in his position would have put it out there and would have taken AMAT but as an unbiased ( there’s that term again ) sports writer he took Servite which was the safe bet for him .

  • Stanford Dad is NOT TOILET PAPER MAN

Aram once again you delete my front wiping comment and assign me names I’m not.

Roll of Toilet has it wrong, and so do you. I don’t want you run out or banished, never have I ever said that any where. You’re a punk who at this age still doesn’t know who he is as evidenced by your annual persona merry go round. You say you’re pulling no punches and then get butt hurt any time I mention your name. Now you’re picking fights with Mr. Bryant, New York, Fred? What’s the matter with you? So Bryant is calling you a racist or is he calling the Tribune irresponsible? I thought it was the latter.

What a douche you’ve become looking for an identity.

Now you have a habit of trying to get me to get riled up and what not but why would I confront a 6″5″ 360 pound degenerate gambler whose knees touch when he walks and would gas out in a 40 yard dash and either puke or go into cardiac arrest, much less tussle with a man who knows how.

Tap out? You made me TAP OUT, biatch better men than you couldn’t do it but you’re the one huh?

Stop trying to pick a fight. I’m betting the last time you threw blows it was stopped when you wet your pants. I didn’t grow up in Temple City and pretend to be a gangsta from ‘Dena by listening to Rap music. I know real gangsta, and I mean REAL GANGSTAS, and you ain’t scaring any one.

Do what you do and walk away while you still have a girlfriend that tolerates the stretch marks and ronchas where a penis use to be. Seriously Aram when was the last time you saw your junk while standing, seriously.

Couldn’t care less what you say for the simple reason I know you won’t say any of that junk to my face, but you never know do you?

Post that you light weight biatch.

wow…what the hell have i been missing? this blog is crazy, and i luv it!

    AT,

Didn’t answer this one so had to respond, whether you see it or not.

No “selective memory here. Koa had the one late start vs ND. the Garfield game was not his “start”. He was a token stand-in for a quarter until Rio could go in to appease some people for 9 missing some workouts during the summer due to baseball. It was predetermined Koa was coming out after he “managed” a quarter. He as 1-2 for 13yards and no TDs or INTs. Is that “shaky”? If it even counts.

Even If you count it as a start he was 18/24 for 229 and 1TD/1INT in 2 starts…not a few any way you look at it. Even in the Loyola game in relief…7/11 with 1 INT. Not great – but not really shaky either.

And of course the design of the plays look the same. Same roll out, same pattern…but without any play action or any threat of the run. Think that might tighten up the secondary of they think run support is in play vs the cushion they can give without it?

Even a casual observer can solve that problem? C’mon – I expect more outta you big guy. And what CIF will look at is whether or not a team can compete with teams at that level – and I’ve been trying to ‘splain to you what that means…it is not just playoff wins and championships. Otherwise a whole buncha teams woulda been gone.

Football playoff wins are pretty random, because the bracket is not set up with any seeding beyond the 1st 4. That damn formula matches up teams/leagues and THAT, more often than not, determines playoff wins. Take a look at how many playoff wins Mater Dei has against the bottom of the Moore League, Millikan, Wilson, Cabrillo?

If that formula had matched up a 9-1 Amat team against the 3rd place team from the Moore League instead of a 3rd placeTesoro team how might that have turned out? And again, perception vs reality, the “perception” on the blog is Tesoro ran all over Amat – but it was tied at 21 with about 6:00 to go.

You see looking at just playoff wins is like looking just at a final score. You have to consider how a game was played. The above losses added to a last minute loss to # 1 in the nation LB Poly or to state champions Santa Margarita in a game that was a 3 pt game in the 4th quarter certainly doesn’t say, “this team doesn’t belong” to anybody, except maybe you and some psycho bloggers that have never even gone out to see the Lancers play.

Not going anywhere – and you can take that one to the bank.
