West Covina still the Kings of Cameron, 21-7; Bishop Amat outlasts La Mirada 34-24 while Charter Oak upends Los Alamitos, 22-14, setting up next week’s mega showdown in the SGV

Bishop Amat, Charter Oak showdown set for next week … Can the coaches please agree to overtime … like right now?

Charter Oak wins: Not only did the Chargers have a better reserve running back in Aaren Vaughns, they played tremendous defense on their way to a 22-14 victory over the Griffins at Veterans Stadium.

Bishop Amat wins: La Mirada gave Bishop Amat a much better fight than it did last season, but Lancers quarterback Koa Haynes made big play after big play, especially in the second half, to help the Lancers escape with a 34-24 victory over the CIF-Southern Section Southeast Division’s top-ranked Matadores on Friday.

Kings of Cameron: West Covina put the clamps on South Hills and its bulldozing quarterback Adam Goss in the second half, then used two fourth-quarter touchdowns by running back Aaron Salgado to break a 7-7 halftime tie for a 21-7 win on Friday night at Covina District Field.

Tonight’s results
Bishop Amat 34, La Mirada 24 – Amat needed to score the final 10 points to fend off the stubborn Matadores, who look like the best team in the Southeast Division. Amat’s offense looks great, defense still a work in progress.
San Dimas 56, San Gabriel 14 – Saints looking like that 2008 team that mopped everyone in the preseason.
Azusa 14, Maranatha 13 -- Aztecs needed a win in the worst way after last week’s humble pie from San Dimas.
Gladstone 35, Baldwin Park 19 — If you don’t feel good for Albert Sanchez and the Gladiators, you don’t like football.
Tesoro 24, Chino Hills 14 — Say this about the Huskies, they gave a good account of themselves against Pac-5 teams the past two weeks, tying Amat and playing Tesoro close.
Glendora 47, Colony 29 – Sometimes we forget that the Tartans are one of the San Gabriel Valley’s big-boy teams. After all, they do play in the Baseline.
La Puente 35, Arroyo 20 — Thought it was a toss-up game going in, and not surprised at all that the Warriors pulled it out.
Charter Oak 22, Los Alamitos 14 – As close to a step-up win as the Chargers have had in a while. Aaren Vaughns was huge, carrying the Chargers into next week’s mega showdown against Amat.
Sierra Vista 42, Mountain View 28 — The Dons’ offense finally showed up and not against just anyone, beating the previously unbeaten Vikings.
West Covina 21, South Hills 7 — Even wounded, the Bulldogs are still the Kings of Cameron. But will they heal in time in hopes of becoming the first SGV team since the 70s Temple City Rams to win three straight CIF titles.
Los Altos 49, Wilson 0 — The shoe fits Los Altos again, off to another impressive 3-0 start. You have to ask, are the Conquerors the Hacienda League favorites?
Ayala 56, Cheyenne 32 — The Bulldogs already matched last year’s win total and have done it impressively, scoring tons of points.
La Serna 27, Bonita 20 — Is it time to worry about the ‘Cats? I know they’re 0-3, but two of them were winnable.
Damien 42, Palm Desert 14 — They didn’t just need a win, they needed a convincing win and got it. Now, let’s see what they do from here.
Diamond Bar 51, Don Lugo 13 — The Brahmas get in the win column after stinking it up the first two weeks.
Salesian 46, Workman 6 — This didn’t add up on paper so the final score is what you thought it would be.
Rowland 27, Northview 24 — Look out, the Raiders are 3-0. I keep telling everyone, coach Craig Snyder is one of the best in the SGV.
South Torrance 33, Rosemead 27 They’ve been to Orange County and the South Bay and haven’t fared well. They’ll do much better back in the SGV.
Ontario 33, Nogales 21 — The Nobles have been in some dogfights, that’s all you can ask.
Montebello 13, South El Monte 8 — From what I hear it could have gone either way. The Eagles are a dangerous Mission Valley contender.
Claremont 27, Walnut 10 – The Wolfpack needed to show they were Sierra League worthy after a couple stinkers.
Pomona 34, Bloomington 14 – Good win for the Red Devils.
Bassett vs. Glenn?

SCRIBBLELIVE: Mike the Cousin will launch ScribbleLive at 6:45 p.m., from Covina District Field for West Covina-South Hills. Follow the rest of us with him for up-to-the-second updates.

Bishop Amat blowout over La Mirada!

  • football jones

    LA CONQ,

I don’t know if it’ll be very close, Wilson is a work in progress and I don’t think they have the horses to compete with LA.

I think LA wins by 3 touchdowns…at the very least.

Good Luck to both teams tonight.

Me, my wife, and my 9 kids will be making the drive out to La Mirada to watch my Lancers beat the El Matadores.
I cashed in my Coors Light cans and put 2 bucks of gas in the Impala but just in case be on the look out and give a hand if need be.
    Go Lancers!

Had a chance to see the AMAT La Mirada game. La Mirada has some good size on the line but AMAT was too much in the end. Koa at QB will be the top QB in the valley next year. They did give up more points then I would like to see but they did a solid job in the 2nd half. Blue is a player and I see him getting a lot of looks coming his way. He made an int to solidify the game and the jump he had was big time .

Exactly what the “Stats”said!!! La Mirada would throw short passes all night & #25 Johnny Hills would have a decent game!…Amat defense had no answers for LM in the 1st half they were scoring & moving the ball at will..One thing is for sure LM is rightfully the #1 team in the Southeast & I don’t see West Covina slowing down this high powered offense if they should meet..

On a different note..The pac5 is undefeated this year vs the Inland..& if Amat’s defense plays one of the top teams from the pac5 the way they played tonight..They’re done!!..Amazing job by Haynes tonight who officially became a dual threat (running & passing) Almost makes you wonder if Haynes should have probably started last year?..This is definitely a faster & more aggressive offense than last season..

    Aram,
I told you picking Chino Hills would be Risky~..The LA Times doesn’t have Tesoro ranked #4 in the Southland for Nothing!!..

All the Serra league teams won big today . Amat had the only close game . Olu , st John bosco , Santa margarita all put up more than 50 points .st Bonnie’s beat rev by a couple tds and oaks Christian beat venice by a couple tds . The PAC is so tough this year . It’s going to be hard for a PAC five team to go undefeated in there leagues .

Gladstone has a really good quarterback. He can run and has a nice arm. They also have a nice group of receivers. They easily could have won by a larger margin. The team does not have a lot of depth. But, if they remain healthy, they have a shot in the Montview.

  • Nose Plugged Tartan

Have seen Glendora the last two weeks. The offensive line is on a roll blowing people away. The defense has moments of brilliance and then blow it and can’t tackle. The secondary the weakness #14 gave Colony the last 6 points for being just plan lazy.It was nice to see coach call him out on the sideline with a whats up with that? They paly the senior at quarterback and the junior last week. But you couldn’t tell the difference. The offensive line is Glendoras strenght right now.

12th man, Haynes is a dual QB and very effective. No, I think Rio was the man for last season! The differience this year is, that Amat is mixing it’s plays a lot more. Amat is known for being a running team. Last year everyone knew who would get the ball, Mr. Train__Moore!
I think last week took a lot out of Amat’s defense. Last night they seem to be not as sharp.A little tired at times. La Mirada was no push over. Expect the same from Charter Oak.

    Aaron,
You have to be worried about a team that gives up 24 straight and blows a 17 point lead… The cubkittens looked dazed and confused in the 2nd half oncethat figured out LS was not giving up and laying down… After they saw the DB get hurt, it looked like they were beggin’ for a way to get off the field. I don’t think that they will be a 0-10 team but I think no higher than 5th in league behind WC, LA, DR,and DB. We all know that you don’t get asked to the dance from the middle… I think you can save the airline tickets and just call it in like the kittens…

  • Aaron

You must be an SD fan…however, it hurts a bit to see your team go down this road.

And 12TH Runner Up wants us to be impressed! Getthefcukoutathere!

  • Nice!

So Glendora has on kid run for 214 yards against Claremont and then have a different one run for 315 against colony. They are doing something right over there. The offensive line must be just blowing up holes. Hopefully they start getting recognized a little. If they beat Ayala. Then I believe they will compete and possibly beat charter oak but theyve got to just take one game at a time. But imagine if both running backs play in a game. Ground and pound with the junior that ran in the Claremont game and the speed around the corner with the senior that ran in colony. They will be able to do special things and if they play that way in league I believe they get 3rd in the top 5 league in California and make the playoffs.

Should of just never left. At least he will still go to ucla .

Sorry guys. When I got to La Mirada my wife saw a big sign for swap meet and made me go there instead. They were not open but we got a good spot in line for when they opened at 5AM this morning.

I heard my Lancers won. Good job guys!

Got to cut this short because we have to drive back out to La Mirada. It seems when we got home we only had 7 kids instead of the usual 9.

Don’t worry. When I get back I’ll log on again under some of my many other alias and help drive the blog hit count up for my friend Fred.

  • Not fooling anybody

@sgv baby – C’mon dude you’re not fooling anybody…you’re the same poster who wrote the post your praising! Only a racist idiot would find that kind of racist “humor” entertaining, if not…you’re BOTH racist idiots and it’s no wonder you find it amusing, freakin douche bags!!!

  • It’s funny

The quote about the swap meet an 9 kids is actually funny . I don’t call it racists .latino comedians say things like this all the time.

  • NeuteredSince1995

Ok guys. I came up with an idea to get money to pay for the tickets and gas so I can go to my Lancers games.

I was cashing in my Coors Light cans but came to realize that I can’t afford to buy the Coors Light so I can cash in the cans.

So I came up with an idea!

Know how they put kids pictures on milk cartons? What if I get them to silkscreen pictures of milk cartons on the backs of my 9 kids! I’m sure all the California cows will think it’s a great idea!
I called Jerseymaid but they have not returned my call. I still need to call Driftwood and Alta Dena but I am sure they will love the idea.
I figure since no one has done it I should be able to corner the market! And I’m sure the Raiders would love to use my kids to dance on the field during their half time shows.
I think it could catch on!

Just goes to prove what I have been saying all along. You don’t need a college degree, a high school diploma, or even a GED to succeed if you just put your mind to it!

  • sgv baby

Not fooling anybody, c’mon guy Nuteredsince95 has humor and whats wrong with that. There is nothing racist about what he is posting just funny. Good for him if he has 9 kids, Impala and cooler full of beer. He also must have money with 9 Amat TUITIONS. Keep them coming NUTEREDSINCE95

  • AMAT 73

Congratulations to all the teams win or lose on their efforts Friday night . Nice win by the Men in Blue . The defense is coming around as they did hold the high scoring LM offense to 24 points.A few more adjustments and some fine tuning and they should be fine . The offense is showing they can score with anyone and Koa is very productive and managing the game very well . Big game this week with CO . Looking forward to the game as it should be another hard fought battle .
