Tribskin Pick’em: Your picks and ours; Hacienda and Montview League start this week

Aram and I will go head-to-head in Tribskin Pick’em throughout the season for our annual dinner bet.

Last Week: Robledo (11-10); Tolegian (15-6).
Season: Robledo (61-31); Tolegian (57-35).

Last Week: After taking an unprecedented eight-game league and mocking Aram for going 12-13 last week, the Big Fella cut the lead in half while I looked like the fool this week. One thing is certain, this year has been more unpredictable than ever. I went 11-10 while Aram when 15-6. I took Azusa, San Dimas, El Monte, Walnut, Glendora, Rowland, Baldwin Park, Los Altos, Diamond Bar, Pioneer and lost all of them. Aram hit some big ones, taking Gladstone over El Monte, Monrovia over San Dimas, Brea over Diamond Bar and Don Lugo over Azusa.

This week:: Two of the best games are on Thursday night, and I thought long and hard about taking Glendora, but I’m sticking with Charter Oak. If you remember, Glendora ran well on Charter Oak last year and the Chargers are without Khari Garcia. It could get interesting, but the Chargers are just better. I also thought about taking South Hills over Monrovia, but the Wildcats showed me something in whipping up San Dimas, so I’m going with the ‘Cats. Amat won’t have as easy a time as people think against St. Paul. Not having Darren Andrews is HUGE. While Koa Haynes has been great, Andrews has been the difference maker. Still, how can you pick Amat to lose at home? Love West Covina to bounce back in the Hacienda against Diamond Ranch, arguably the team with the best chance of beating them in league. And the Montview League title hunt is on the line opening week with Gladstone at La Puente. I’m going with Happy Rock.

    Hacienda League:
Diamond Ranch vs West Covina- This game seens about even with the injuries West Co has but the reality is West Covina is still the most talented team in the Hacienda as well as the fastest. Though diamond ranch does have a good defense it will not be enough to stop West Covina. WC 42 DR 14

Los Altos vs Diamond Bar- Diamond Bar has a lot of speed in Tyler Brown and Broudus, however it seems the coaching has not been able to utilize them to well in the offense. The defense has given up a lot of yards in the run game as well as points. Los Altos finally faced better competition last week and came out flat offensivley. Los Altos has players but it seems their offensive line cant hold blocks for their run game to develop. It will be an interesting matchup and very close game. LA 21 DB 17

Bonita vs Rowland- Rowland started the season 3-0 but lost last week against Arroyo. Their level of competition is good enought to beat teams in the Mid valley but not enough for the Hacienda. Bonita seems to be getting back on track, as I recall they didnt start the season so well last year but bounced back when it came to league play. Bonita takes this one easily. Bonita 48 Rowland 7

    Ummmmm…

DB is going to SMASH LA of Friday. If rumors coming out of Camp Conqueror are true, LA may need to find a new QB, RB and Kicker this week!

    Good luck!

    Reality czech,
I would not be surprised if DB did beat Los Altos by a large amount. Los Altos does not have the best offense and their quarterback is below average. But they can run the ball and that is where Diamond Bar has had a lot of trouble this season.

How about giving it up for Citrus College Football! They’re 3-0, and just had their biggest win yet over Grossmont! Big Game this Saturday at Citrus College verses Mt.SAC! Watching JC football in the afternoons, beats cutting the grass on Saturday’s!

    Get’em OWLS!

Prayers to coach Layton and his family. I saw him two weeks ago and said then that he did not look good. He does not look healthy and has lost a lot of weight. He has helped many players move on to college. I hope he takes the time to take care of himself. Prayers go out for you Roddy. I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery

As an x-Sac Dawg, Mounties win this one by 3 or 4 T.D.s.

  • Mean Green Pastures….

I am taking Monrovia over South Hills-South Hills got the best of the Green pride at home. I think think the Cats return the favor.

I’m taking St Paul over Bishop.- For some reason, I think this one is going to come hard for BA. They may win, but man I just got this feeling.

I am taking Glendora over Charter Oak-This Series is 1-1 over the last two years. Glendora for some reason matches up with the Chargers. I don’t know why. I just got this feeling.

I am taking Temescal Canyon over Damien. The Titans loss to a tough Murrieta Valley team and Steele Canyon. Damien has beat a average Palm Desert team, but also had a extra week off. Some I think they needed a game going into this one 2-2 For Gano.

I am taking Daimond Ranch over West Co. I DR Wants to win the Hacienda, this is it. I think they finally get it done.
