Tribskin Pick’em: Your picks and ours; Ayala’s 0 will go; Will Charter Oak take another step back in a step-up, and look for Amat, West Covina, Gladstone and South Hills to keep rolling

Aram and I will go head-to-head in Tribskin Pick’em throughout the season for our annual dinner bet.

Last Week: Robledo (14-4); Tolegian (14-4).
Season: Robledo (75-35); Tolegian (71-39).

Last Week:: We ended in a tie and had an improved week going 14-4. We both missed taking Monrovia over South Hills, Los Altos over Diamond Bar and Baldwin Park over Nogales. Not knowing Covina was missing three players I lost that game taking the Colts but gained a game back on Aram when he took Diamond Ranch over West Covina.

This week:: Eight of ten of Bishop Amat’s opponents should end up with winning records when the season is finished and Culver City (3-1) is one of them. But don’t expect the Lancers to lose their first game knowing Alemany is next in two weeks. West Covina should thoroughly dominate Los Altos after what the Conqs have done the last two weeks and I’m not taking Charter Oak to beat Los Osos on the road. Those teams traditionally give the Chargers trouble. I’m going with Damien to knock off Los Alamitos just like Charter Oak did and like South Hills over Glendora. In the battle of the unbeatens, I’m going with Kaiser over Ayala and its dream season.

Fred, why no faith in CO? Los Osos? Really?
So you still think CO misses the playoffs this year?

  • Anonymous

Why the mention of Amat that was 2 weeks ago CO isnt thinking about Amat get real fred not everything is about mediocre in the pac5 and above average in the SGV Amat. You just always has to make sure you mention Amat dont you.

  • The Libero

How is los osos a step-up game for charter oak? they play in the same division, they’re the 3rd best team in the baseline league at best, and you call this a step-up! only in the fish bowl!! cmon freddy

  • Fred Robledo

You two need to check your feelings at the door. Is picking Los Osos at home over Charter Oak really an insult at Charter Oak? I’d like to see Charter Oak win too, but that’s not my pick this week. And my reference to Amat with Charter Oak is how well Charter Oak bounced back after one of the most anticipated games in a long time.

  • Fred Robledo

It’s not a step up the way Rancho Cucamonga, Upland or Bishop Amat were step-ups, but if Los Alamitos is a step-up so is Los Osos because traditionally, those are tough teams. Two of Los Osos’ losses were to Redlands, 14-10 and Redlands is 3-1. And Norco, losing 54-33, but scoring 33 POINTS! Norco is 3-1 … Don’t just look at Los Osos’ record, look at why they’re 2-2. Los Osos also lost both games on the road, so tell me why I’m so wrong picking them at home, where they’re 2-0?

  • Anonymous

Still no respect for Ayala? Thats a surprise

  • Fred Robledo

No respect for Ayala? How about showing respect for Kaiser, another 4-0 team.

  • chhuskies

who has ayala really played(nobody, avg. team ranking 24.0) please, thats why they get no respect.there just padding there record

  • Good Call Freddy!

    Fred,

That’s a good call on Los Osos with the win.

Charter Oak is very undisciplined and without the help of their hometown officials, I think they get beat at Los Osos.

Anytime Aram picks against Amat, everyone applauds him.

When you look at a game objectively and pick against CO, you’re an Amat guy.

That’s funny. These Bozos obviously weren’t at the Glendora game last week when Glendora was in scoring position at least 4 times and didn’t convert. It could have been a much closer game or maybe even a Glendora win.

That should tell them something about their CO team. If any team is mediocre this year, it is CO.

Call it like you see it Freddy, everyone expect the CO honks see it the same way.

  • Freddy Homer

Good call Freddy…you’re a homer! You’re a fraud. It sounds like someone took the ball home and you can’t play anymore. Your logic is of a 2nd grader. Go back to lancer land where you will have a good year and no CIF championship.

  • SERIOUSLY

TO THE CHINO BOY’S WHO JUST CANT WAIT TO WIN CHARTER OAK!!! REMEMBER SGV, ALL THAT TALKING THEY DID LAST SEASON,(SIERRA LEAGUE, OLD MAN CHINKO AND THEY GET SPANKED BY CHARTER OAK AND LOSE LEAGUE. PLEASE C/O I KNOW THERE’S ALOT OF HATERS ON HERE THAT REALLY DON’T CARE, BUT I DO… AND CAN YOU PLEASE WIN THEM AGAIN, SO THEY COULD QUIETLY GO AWAY, LIKE WHEN YOU YELL AT YOUR DOG AND HE GOES AWAY WITH HIS HEAD DOWN AND HIS TAIL BETWEEN HIS B@%4…

DO US RIGHT CHARTER OAK AND DONT LET US DOWN. JUST THINK IF YOU DO WIN, AND YOU YOU’LL BE ABLE TO SAY THAT AMAT COULDN’T BEAT CHINO HILLS, BUT WE DID!!! AND ALL WILL BE RIGHT AGAIN IN THE FISHBOWL!

  • Cong ’76

Wow, how do the Conq’s win so decisively only to be beaten so conclusively? LA offered only token resistance against Chino and against Diamond Bar they had more turnovers than rushing yards in the first half.

Talk about going from contender to pretender.

Coach Ziola needs to go back to his book of magic, because clearly, the spell has worn off.

  • Time Will Show CO Program Is In A TailSpin

    Give It Time Fred.

The CO honks were all talk before the Amat game, now they don’t want to talk about Amat anymore.

Now they are all take about Los Osos, but they probably won’t want to talk about that anymore soon either.

Sorry to say, but CO will struggle to make the playoffs this year, and next year will be even worse. Big Lou has lost control of the program.

CO Football is in a tailspin and it is only going to get worse in years to come. Even their own families know it.

Did you see that Vaughns’ younger brother went to Amat instead of attending CO where his older brother is playing. Wonder why???

Everyone knows there are better programs out there like Chino Hills, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Amat, and many others. Hell, this year Damien is probably even better.

Let them keep honking Fred, but it will get quiet real soon.

  • D-Mo

Bozos? Here we go. Somebody got their helmet spun around by a Charger hit and somehow thinks Glendora was in that game.
    Friend of yours, Fred?
No way Los Osos beats CO.

  • SERIOUSLY

Conq 76??? YOU JUST DIDN’T POST THAT DID YOU??? PLEASE DONT FOLLOW THE AMAT FANS, JUST LAST YEAR THEY WANTED HAGGERTY’S HEAD ON A PLATTER, OOOH BUT THIS YEAR THEY WANT HIM FOR PRESIDENT!

YOUR BETTER THAN THAT CONQ 76!WHAT YOUR NEW COACH HAS DONE THE LAST TWO SEASONS FOR LA HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE AND ATLEAST THOSE SENIORS LEFT WITH A TASTE OF VICTORY BEFORE THEY GRADUATED!

  • 238

Glendora was never in that game vs Charter Oak last week. Charter Oak could have scored whenever they wanted. They played good bend don’t break Defense. They did give up at least 2 plays that would have been TDs for teams that have decent speed. Los Osos has that speed and is better defensively than Glendora. Osos also tends to play really well at home. I would also take Osos in a close one.

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

Fred’s right, this is a step-up game Friday night. He’s just wrong about for which team.

Let’s see if Los Osos can step up and beat a program with a coach who has five CIF titles, won the Sierra League last year and was one of the final eight teams in the same division Osos plays in.

It’s good to see Los Osos step up and take on this kind of competition.

  • whaaaat

what are we serious wanting los osos to win CHARTER OAK? I don’t… Come on C/O let’s tighten up and get the W and then get CHINO HILLS AZZ!

  • The Doctor

The CO Nation: Breaking news all the chino Hills players tripped over their helmets at practice and sprained their ankles and are porbable for the CO game. It would be a Cynderella story if they were all able to play through the pain. If they happen to play look for a 50-7 game I guarentee CH will run up the score like Upland did in the playoffs on national TV. You remember?

  • Observer

    Well Said Aram,
One of the best post I have seen here in awhile. Way to turn that beast around on Freddie. LO should be the one respecting a CO team that easily beat Los Al and lost to a very good B.A. team. CO is indeed the defending Sierra Champs and will likely go further in the playoffs this year again than LO can hope to go.

  • Cong ’76

    Seriously Said…

I wasn’t able to go to the Arroyo, Salesian or Wilson games but did manage to see LA go against Chino and DB. Against Chino, all LA did was run into a congested line that offered no relief and against DB, LA was mishandling just about every other snap under center and losing fumbles left and right. I am not calling for Ziola’s head and I have indeed praised him for the work done to date. However, what I saw with my own two eyes was a lack of imagination when the strategy against Chino was clearly not working and a complete lack of execution against the Brahma’s.

I view these boards as a place for us “fans” to voice our opinions and offer our input, both positive and negative.

  • 12th man

Aram is right!! This is step-up game for Los Osos…Final:

    Charter Oak-31

    Los Osos-14

With an average Quarterback & Los Osos only averaging about 120 yds on the ground..I just don’t see them scoring very often vs a stingy defense~

  • reality

H.S. football folks knew last years Los Altos team was Arrelanes team that Brute’ and cabal usurped from him. This year will be Ziola’s true measure as a H.C. While the jury is still out I think we now know which way the jury is leaning.

  • COLTS

    BREAKING NEWS:

Has anyone filed a missing report on Ainsworth from Covina/Monrovia?

Last anyone has heard of he was supposed to transfer from Covina to Monrovia, but noone has heard of or seen him since. please if u hear anything call

1-800- grass is not always greener

  • shameful

@Colts, atleast he’s playing. What you got your KEYBOARD…HAHA. SUCKA!

  • Fred Robledo

Step up for Los Osos Aram? This is probably the fifth toughest game on their schedule after Redlands, Norco, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga. Charter Oak’s also new to the Sierra, Los Osos has been playing this type of schedule for years. For them, Charter Oak is just another game. For the Chargers, it’s a game against a more-tested traditional Inland team. Maybe it’s not a step-up for either, how’s that. But I still like Los Osos at home.

  • Not in agreement

    Aram
I would say a step up would be when you play a team from outside your league that is better then the teams within you league, and that is certainly not the situation here. With Upland & Rancho looming ahead I’m pretty sure that Los Osos is not freaking out about having to play CO.

  • Spartan 03

I believe Charter Oak should beat Los Osos but this is quite possibly a trap game for them as they have a much more important game next week at home against Chino Hills.

  • iConcur

I only read one sentence and that was good enough for me. Fred Robledo I couldn’t agree more with you. Robledo knows what he’s talking about and knows prep football. Your picks for Amat, WC and unsure about Charter Choke this week are on point. HAHAHAHA

  • WC48DAD

    @COVINA

BREAKING NEWS!!! The grass may not be greener at Monrovia, but it’s better then Covina’s. LOL You got spanked on television by WEST COVINA. That’s pretty embarrassing. Plus you lost to El Monte and Northview. WOW That is sorry. No wonder the guy left

  • AyalaBulldogFan

Ayala up by 14, probably a high scoring game 28 to 42 i wanna predict, ayala’s defense will give up points but not enough to give the game away and they way ayalas’s offense is they are rolling, this is a big game for ayala and if they win which i hope they do it will be a big confidence booster going into the first week of league going up against damien.

  • Wacky Tabacky

WC48DAD – maybe that’s why they have all those D1 underachievers over there – because the grass is better?

  • Colt74

Sorry. Just had to jump into this one.

“LOL You got spanked on television by WEST COVINA.”
Yeah kinda sucks even though you and I were not suited up. Must be like the 38-14 loss to Loyola? But WesCo did score 14 after their 2nd and 3rd teams were in. That’s pretty embarrassing too I guess huh? Wasn’t that broadcasted all over the net? I know I watched it live. And then to top it off, to have to forfeit that game to us? Now THAT is the definition of embarrassing!
And then Chino Hills 46-14? was that embarrassing too?

Too bad they didn’t put on TV the 2010 or 2011 games. 2010 would have been good. I think you remember that game. The only team that beat WC that year? That’s pretty embarrassing too?

Everyone( But you I guess ) knew before the season that Covina graduated everyone including the water girls this year. They also knew that Ainsworth transferred before the West Covina, El Monte and Northview games.

Trust me, NO ONE at Covina is embarrassed about anything this year. We came in with ZERO expectations and play one game at a time. But to be a back to back CIF champion and have this kind of season so far…would that be considered embarrassing?

I’m a WesCo fan..but I’ll talk about embarrassing with you if you want.

  • WestCo Who???

I remembered West Covina getting spanked by Amat a few years back and last year they said they could beat Amat? Isn’t that hilarious? Every time a fishbowl team wins CIF they automatically think they can handle a PAC5 team. If WestCo played Amat this year the score would have been 50-7, and they would score on the third string team. Hahahaha!

  • SGV FOOTBALL

Guys don’t forget Fred has a new title and has to show some love to the teams outside of the Valley now!!!

I just want to know what Fred will have to say Friday night after the Chargers wax that bruins a$$.

  • HuckTheCHFuskies

    @Huskies fan

At least Ayala believes in the talent in it’s own city. You lost the best QB in the city when he enrolled at Ayala instead of CHHS then in the offseason you had to go recruit. Sleazy. You had 2 QB’s in your system at the Varsity level. What’s wrong with them?

Just keep on being the schmucks you are. Karma’s a you know what. Those 75 kids you’ve got standing around not even getting a shot all the while you keep taking their money, recruiting from other cities and selling your pipe dream. Gonna come back to bite you.

  • Frank

How is beating Glendora considered a bounce back game?
Glendora is such a down program. That should be an easy win, if Co is suppose to be a top program. Let’s just be real Co is not and has not ever been a team of big boy football. They have proven it by their numerous humiliating defeat blow outs from Amat. As well as what happened last year by Upland.
The Bullies have been checked, Amat has shown them again they are not ready, Amat has made the truth evident in the face of the hypocrisy that they have spewed.
They will be exposed again, very soon!

  • TheRealAyalaBulldogFan

What’s up with people posting as other people?

    That’s just not right.

Hoping that we play a good game. I hate bye weeks. Seems like it’s hard to get the momentum going again.

    Good luck Bulldogs!

  • BULLDOG TIA

    @WestCo Who???

Bad memory pal. WC DID NOT get “spanked” by Bishop a few years back. Yes WC lost but only by like 2 touchdowns. Hardly a spanking ding-dong & YES, LAST YEAR WE COULD HAVE BEAT BISHOP…maybe not this year, but DEFINITELY LAST YEAR!!
