Girls Volleyball: St. Lucy’s sweeps past Bonita, Chino Hills survives in five over Santiago

St. Lucy’s 3, Bonita 0
The Regents opened the season by downing the Bearcats in straight sets 25-12, 25-8, 25-15. St. Lucy’s was led by junior outside hitter Veronica La Pierre who had nine kills, three digs and one ace. Freshman outside hitter Loryn Carter added seven kills and three blocks, while sophomore setter Juliet McClure contributed 17 assists, two kills, two digs and one block.

Chino Hills 3, Santiago 2
The Huskies (1-0) opened play and took care of Santiago (0-1) their season with a 23-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 15-11 victory.
Karrah Wood led Chino Hills with 17 kills and Meghan Buzzerio added 14 kills and three blocks. Shelley Anderson chipped in with 42 assists.

Bishop Amat 3, San Gabriel Mission 0
The Lancers (1-0) defeated the Pioneers (0-1) 25-12, 25-13, 25-10 behind the efforts of Mariah Jackson, with 12 kills, and Sam Quesada-Diaz, with 10 kills.

Glendora 3, Walnut 0
The Tartans evened their record at 1-1 by beating the Mustangs (0-2), 25-13, 25-22, 25-15. Senior middle blocker Cassandra Freitag led Glendora with eight kills. Senior setter Casie Lowden chipped in with 18 assists, six kills, three aces, three digs and one block. Senior libero Lauren Hyllengren had 10 digs and one ace.
