Diamond Ranch, Pomona and Garey will finally play football at home next season

Next fall will bring with it the start of a new school year and new football seasons in the Pomona Unified School District. For Pomona, Garey and Diamond Ranch high schools it will also mean being able to play home games on their campuses at what will be modest, new stadiums.

As I see this a plus for these football programs I can’t help but think of all the teachers getting laid off or the lack of funding for special programs. I understand there is special funding such as bonds for construction and facilities upgrades but this just shows how the State School System is so out touch. Good luck to all these programs.

It’s about time this happened. A hearty thank you goes to the current school board for making this a reality. The bonds paying for this construction project were voted for by the citizens of the Pomona Unified School District, and are paid through Property Taxes levied on the Citizens of the Pomona Unified School District. This is separate from the funding for the teachers salaries and special programs that come from the State.
These fields and amenities will also benefit the Track and Field teams and Soccer teams and PE classes among other uses. Good luck to all the schools, kids, teachers/coaches who will benefit from this gift by the Pomona Unified Community.
