What a night in the SGV: Diamond Ranch stunned Bonita with a last second 37-yard field goal to win 34-31. That leaves Bonita and Rowland in a tie for first heading into Week 10, and a wild race for the third playoff spot. Bishop Amat’s win coupled with Alemany’s loss means if Amat beats Notre Dame next week, it will share of piece of the Serra League title. Even better, with Orange Lutheran losing to Mater Dei, Amat is all but guaranteed at least an at-large berth, even with a loss to Notre Dame in the finale. La Puente’s huge win over Azusa means the Warriors and Gladstone will likely share the Montview League title. El Monte and South El Monte’s wins set up showdown next week for the MVL league title. Even with South Hills’ win over Ayala, Damien, despite a loss tonight, is still in the playoff mix. There could possibly be a three-way tie for third between Damien, South Hills and Ayala, but South Hills is in the drivers seat. Get ready for Week 10, it could be a wild one.
