Mid-Valley Predictions: San Dimas should do enough to reach the semifinals, but nobody’s knocking off No. 1 Paraclete

The Mid-Valley Division is by far the easiest to project. You can pencil Paraclete, Sierra Canyon and Monrovia into the semifinals without worry. The winner of San Dimas and San Marino will be the fourth, guaranteed. The way Paraclete took care of Sierra Canyon and how it handled the rest of the Alpha leads me to take Paraclete over San Dimas in the semifinals. This could be Monrovia’s finest hour and I love their chances against Sierra Canyon, especially if they get them at home. But here’s the thing, as much as I would love to watch Monrovia go back-to-back against the top dogs, I don’t foresee them beating both teams. Once in the final, Paraclete is more polished and will win it all.

    And just like clock work the temperature is supposed to drop big time at the end of the week.

    So the joy of driving an hour up the hill to Knight High School and freezing your butt off watching your team get its butt beat will be TC’s special 3rd place prize. I am sure that every SP fan is now thanking God that TC completed their only pass in the game to win in overtime.

    Oh for the days of being in the playoffs with Arroyo Grande, Paso Robles and Lompoc, at least it is only one hour.. eh Golden Arm?

      Oh yeah, TC’ers and Star New writers, it is Knight High School which is about 20 miles from Paraclete where they have no field.

      Don’t do a google search under Paraclete unless you want to miss the game. All I hope is no TC players get hurt in this debacle, It is good to be able to walk when you are 45. Paraclete I could care less about, maybe that might slow them down a little.

      Because, after all, it is high school football anything can happen, so as the Reaper says, Don’t bet on anything that eats!” there are too many variables one cannot account for that just might makes Fred’s predictions go terribly wrong. (or not)

    Probably the most interesting games will be Covina So El Monte and or Montebello v El Monte.

    With the high power SEM passing offense, I would say the potential game of the week is Covina SEM.

    Spoiler alert!!!!! Arroyo over BG.

    This is really the division of champions. Monrovia, Paraclete, Sierra Canyon and San Dimas have each won CIF TItles within the past three seasons. The most dangerous thing to do is look ahead. The playoffs is a collection of four one-game seasons. Winner takes all. This year, the champion will likely advance to a fifth game. Monrovia’s bracket is ideal to give us a chance. Actually, it would be better to have a shot at San Dimas in round 2, Sierra Canyon in Round 3 and Paraclete in the CIF Finals. The trap, though, resides with all those teams who realize that NOTHING is set in stone.

    Good luck to every team, especially MONROVIA!

        We have a pretty exciting tournament this year. Temperature could be a factor. Finally we get back to the semblance of real playoff elements.

    Lol….I have been reading New York. Trying to figure out where the game is myself. We play at AVC now, but it may not be available. Knight was discussed as an alternative if AVC is not an option.

    Its a bold statement Freddy is making and I’m hoping when can parlay our success for four more weeks. The climb starts with TC and nothing is given in the postseason. I can tell all of you regardless of their record and what has played out in the regular season, the coaches are not taking the Rams lightly. Whether it be by 1 or 20, our boys need a work a full 48 minutes and earn their keep.

    And yes, I would plan on it being cold. Overnight temperatures are said to dip down into the high 20′s. If its at Knight…stand-by!!!

      Good PC statement to respect the 16th seed as the one seed. But realistically we all know that it will be several degrees colder on the TC side of the field.. it is just a fact.

      AVC is Desert Rat for Antelope Valley College.

      I hope no one listened to me about Knight High School. I was just pissed as the last time I made that drive Knight High was not even on the map.

        Antelope Valley used to battle Hart for D2 titles back in the 1990s. Whatever happened to AVHS?

      I really like Coach Dalhia’s quote following the Sierra Canyon massacre, “We finished our runs. We finished our runs. We finished our runs.” He reminds me of one of my favorite former high school coaches. I think I like his attitude toward beating up the opponent.

      It just wouldn’t be a Paraclete playoff game if it wasn’t hard for the visiting team fans to figure out where and when the game is.

    Paraclete is more Polished….now Fred you just woke up Half of Mtown with that remark. I hope you have seen enough of Paraclete to make that statement. Anyhow, Monrovia has Viewpoint in their sites at the moment. Every game is uniquely Different. Every opponent brings a different style to the boxing match. As for Monrovia, when confidence and emotions are high, when the swag is turned up, the Cats will be very tough to beat. I am sure all of the playoff participants will bring their “A” game. The key is, who’s “A” game is the best. If any of these teams come out flat, they can be beat. Their will not be a more experience team than Monrovia taking the field in any game. This senior Class has dressed, and/or played in 3 Cif Championship games. That’s 16 playoff games. The rest have 1-2 Cif Title experience. For our young cats, this will be the first run. They need to contribute, but enjoy the experience of Playoff football. Playoff football is all these kids know at Monrovia. It would be hard for them to sit and watch someone else play during these next four weeks. I am counting on the Cats to use that experience, along with emotion and effort, to bring home their 3rd consecutive title, matching the legendary Temple City teams of the 70′s. The Stake have never been higher for Monrovia Wildcat football. Seize the Moment WildCats, this could be a run for the ages!!
