Tribskin Pick’em, this weeks games and predictions: I’m going to take Charter Oak, West Covina and Gladstone

Aram and I will go head-to-head in Tribskin Pick’em throughout the season for our annual dinner bet.

Last Week: Robledo (14-6); Tolegian (14-6).
This Week: Robledo (164-74); Tolegian (165-73).

Last Week: No blood as we both went 14-6, leaving Aram with a one-game lead going into the quarterfinals. We both lost taking Amat over LB Poly, Paramount over West Covina, Bell Gardens over Arroyo and Bonita over Santa Fe. Aram got me taking South El Monte over Covina, but I got him back taking El Monte over Montebello.

This week: Charter Oak is the San Gabriel Valley’s best hope to do special things and beating Rancho Cucamonga and getting a home game the following week against Big, Bad Vista Murrieta would be special. I’m not taking Charter Oak for sentimental reasons, I believe they’re flat out better and have the defense to drive RC nuts. West Covina proved something last week, so I’m taking the defending champions over Muir, though I like Muir’s chances. I’m going out on a limb taking Gladstone. On the road, I would have taken North Torrance, but at home I’m giving the Gladiators a punchers chance. Let’s be honest, North Torrance is probably better, but I like how the Gladiators answered the playoff bell last week. Every other game on the schedule is a slam dunk, don’t even take note.

      • Confused…

Reverse psychology Greenie… Compton Dominquez will be the team that knocks off the over-rated La Serna Lancers… They don’t want to see WesCov again… 84-21 I don’t care what the revenge factor is, unless LS scores 100+ points nothing can fix that butt whooping. And they didn’t even run up the score. Imagine i f they keep playing the starters they may have scored 150 points…

enough of the calpreps prediction. havent you fans had enough of that computer junk? think about it they had Amat winning last week what happen? who cares who they say who’s going to win. the game is played on the field it doesnt matter how high theyre projection rate is during the season, in the playoffs teams come to play much harder with more to lose, you cant put a projection on that. but if thats what makes you weirdos feel better than continue banking off of the computer projection maybe the other 17 to 20% of them being wrong wont come true for your team.

    • Greenie

I totally Agree with you on that… Football is more than numbers crunched together. Part of the problem is that people go off name recognition Alone. In the Case of the Amat Poly game…Poly had the name and backed it up…I had Poly all the way. This week I think my pick is spot on again when it comes to Rancho Cuc and Charter Oak. Charter Oak is the name around these parts, Rancho is still the better team with a the better defense. I have seen them Both. Ranch There is a difference between a “Baseline” D and a Sierra Defense. Charter will struggle to score points, and Vaughn won’t be able to stick the Rancho wide receivers.

      • jcaz

You cant sit there and say that just because your in a certain division, that your just as good as everybody else. Charter Oaks gonna spank them

      • warrior fan

Im with you and history has its way when it comes to CO and Rancho i just dont see CO getting over that hump quite yet. People need to sto being homers and becomes realist.

        • New York

What is homer about thinking that Charter Oak, that has now blown out
the rest of the Sierra League two years in a row, can make it to the
Inland semi-finals? If Chino Hills had done what Charter Oak did then
people would have no problem thinking they would beat Rancho. Is Rancho more talented with high profile recruits? Yes. Does that translate to victory? No. Has Big Lou forgotten more about high shcool football than most coaches know? Probably. Is Charter Oak familiar with Rancho? Yes. That means they wont be star struck by lining up with them.

          • Grantland Rice

dont discount baiz as a head coach, big lou will need to have his absolute A game, do yourself a favor and research baiz and the family, you’ll learn a whole lot

          • New York

You sure have a clever posting name. Big props for that. I never meant to suggest that Nick and Bob are not good or even great coaches. Nice father, son duo. I did mean to suggest that if Big Lou had two players going to the US Army All-Star game plus Rancho’s overall lineup, then he would probably beat Upland. That is NOT a knock on Rancho but rather a compliment toward Big Lou.

I really like Rancho and my family used to live there and even play for the Cougars. My disappointment with Rancho is the same as with Upland. I want you guys to beat the big Riverside teams. You guys have the enrollment and the talent and booster club resources.

          • Grantland Rice

I like and know both the baiz family and the salter family, they have won bigger games than the folks have at CO. neither school went kicking and screaming when they got bumped up to the Inland and UNTIL CO beats a team like Upland(a Inland League Champion or Amat) they are on the outside looking in……..”outlined against a blue-gray October sky”….thanks for the name recgonition!

    • jcaz

You guys had a great season so far Warrior Fan, but im afraid your season comes to an end this Friday night. It will be heartbreaking for you watching Notre Dame go farther, knowing all along you guys actually beat them this earlier year. But I guess that’s what happens. Your a good team, better than Amat, but not really good enough to win it all. So sad, because In the end, both you and the Lanceritos will be watching on the sidelines as someone else take home the bacon. LOL

      • warrior fan

whats with the wishful hating jcaz, you should know by being an Amat fan to beat Alemany you must have a rabbits foot and a few four leaf clovers on your sideline. IMO, Alemany is by far the 2nd toughest team in the pac5 (behind St. john bosco). The air attack we have is what makes us hard to beat we can score at will you can not take the air out of the ball against us we put points on the board and we put them there fast. My prediction is we beat MD convincingly and move on to the semi finals (a place were familiar with) and hopefully to the championship after. But if things doesnt go that way then hey we had a good run at it and im not focus on other teams making further then us if they do and coming out of the Serra then im rooting for them im not going to sit on the sidline and hate on the other teams that are still in it like Amat fans do. Do us winners and survivors a favorite and sit in your familiar spot (at home out of the playoffs) and watch the game this is bigger than your lancers your lancers had a chance and like always they blew it. ND, and Alemany will march on you watch and see (like you have a choice).

        • jcaz

That's cute. I like that. You sitting here acting all humble and soooo gracious by saying we should all root for the Serra teams gives me this warm and furry feeling all over my body.

          • warrior fan

LOL….i did kind of soften up like Amat does when their on the field huh. i apologze for that. But one thing is certain it doesnt matter when or if we lose because once again amat has shown that they are not a pac5 competitor and we have. And again you bring up the 20th Century dude get real Amat hasnt even sniffed the semi’s let alone the second but once (2nd round) not semi’s. If we’re a good team then what would you concider your team? once again Amat is at home hoping we lose well good luck with that and again if we happen to lose which i doubt we still made it further than amat beat amat and is amat champions again.

          • jcaz

Warrior fan, Wow, there has finally come a time, when your not being an arrogant little B…itch ?
My my, where did all this humbleness come from ?
BTW, your beat a team that Amat could have handled so this idea that your a Pac5 contender just because you got a better draw than we got is so bogus that its darn right laughable.
Lets see how you do this Friday night and like my very good Friend Non-sense likes to say, NOT SENSE FOREVER for you WF. Ha ha ha

    • Not Since 1995

I drove by Knifer field today but didn’t see the “Lanceritos” practicing,,,! Any reason why they aren’t practicing…? Does anybody know who the “Lanceritos” are playing this weekend…!

Yeah…I’ve been driving to see the CIF Championship game every year…! I’ve been driving the Bishop NoMAS blowhards crazy for the last 6 years reminding you that you suck in the PAC 5, and I’ve been driving your mama to and from the motel 6 in Rosemead where we meet every tuesday at noon! I’ll be driving to CIF Championship game later on too…!

Now how do I get to the MISSION VIEJO game this Friday…? I wanna see the Lanceritos get their a$$es handed to them, AGAIN…!

    • New York

Are you guys finally gonna crack the Riverside dominance of the Inland Division?

      • Greenie

No, Upland will lose next… The Inland Division is locked more than any other division.

  • Colt74

I asked the powers that be if WesCo, San Dimas, and Charter Oak will all win this week. He said that if they were he would give me a sign by blackening out the sun today. He also told me to bet the farm on USC over UCLA.

    • D-Mo

Good one. Solar eclipse down under. Good enough for me..

    • Not Since 1995

I drove by South Central Covina High School today but didn’t see the “Team” practicing,,,! Any reason why they aren’t practicing…? Does anybody know who the Colts are playing this weekend…!

      Not In 2012 Either…

  • 12th man

SJB looking good in the Pac5 along with Mission Viejo..I read some comments stating that Alemany was the 2nd best team in the Pac5 lol..It actually made me chuckle..Alemany is far better & more athletic than Amat & perhaps can pull an upset on Friday..But to say they are the 2nd best in the Pac5 is wishful thinking..

    Non-sense goes into an elevator,
when he gets in he notices a huge man standing next to him.

The big dude looks down upon the
small Non sense and says: “7 foot tall,

350 pounds, 20 inch pee pee, 3 pound
left testie, 3 pound right testie,

    Turner Brown !!”

    Non sense faints!!

The big guy picks up non-sense and brings him to, slapping his face and shaking
him, and asks non-sense “What’s wrong?”

Non sense says; “Excuse me but
    what did you say?”

The big dude looks down and says
“7 foot tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch pee pee, 3 pound

left testie, 3 pound right testie, and my name is Turner Brown !.”

Non sense says, ” Oh thank god,
I thought you said ‘Turn around. ‘”
