Defending CIF-Southern Section Southeast Division champion West Covina isn’t done yet.
After needing to win its final game in the Hacienda League to make the playoffs, the Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals with a 21-19 victory over third-seeded Muir that was full of clutch calls from Bulldogs coach Mike Maggiore.
West Covina (8-4) will face second-seeded La Serna at California High in next week’s semifinals. La Serna (11-1) is the same team the Bulldogs defeated 84-21 last year

Hollywood endings usually are reserved for Denzel Washington, not Denzel Mitchell.
But not even Hollywood could have scripted a better ending on Friday night for Mitchell, a running back/defensive back on the San Dimas High School football team.
Mitchell made the game-turning interception, then moments later scored the game-winning touchdown as San Dimas handed visiting San Marino a 31-28 defeat in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Mid-Valley Division playoffs.

Friday’s results
Southeast Division

West Covina 21, Muir 19
Santa Fe 27, La Mirada 26
La Serna 29, Compton Dominguez 13
Mid-Valley Division
San Dimas 31, San Marino 28
Sierra Canyon 28, Arroyo 20
Monrovia 43, South El Monte 6
Paraclete 56, El Monte 16
Inland Division
Rancho Cucamonga 23, Charter Oak 7
Northwest Division
North Torrance 42, Gladstone 34

Why would it be such a shocker to see Charter Oak beat Rancho? If Chino Hills had dominated Charter Oak the way Charter Oak had dominated Chino Hills and CH were now facing Rancho, I don’t think people would consider it to be a shocker to see CH beat Rancho. Last year Rancho scraped by CH after Charter Oak had dominated them the week before.

Just because Rancho would individually test through the roof at a combine relative to CO, does not mean that they will put it all together and steamroll the chargers.

Reguarding your last sentence New York… BINGO

      • D-Mo

CO really messed it up by not including Special Teams as part of their package. Defense actually played pretty well. They gave up 14, but scored 7. Can’t fault them on that.
The real issue, besides no points produced by offense, was special teams. Wow. How many playoff teams ignore this aspect of playing competitively? Besides the field goal attempts that ended in disaster, what about not fair catching a punt at the 10, but letting RC down it at the 1. Then CO runs a draw from the endzone, which ended in a safety. WTH?
CO beat a tougher team the week before.

Non-sense goes into an elevator, when he gets in he notices a huge man standing next to him.

The big dude looks down upon the small Non sense and says: “7 foot tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch pee pee, 3 pound left testie, 3 pound right testie,

      Turner Brown !!”

      Non sense faints!!

The big guy picks up non-sense and brings him to, slapping his face and shaking him, and asks non-sense “What’s wrong?”

Non sense says; “Excuse me but. what did you say?”

The big dude looks down and says, “7 foot tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch pee pee, 3 pound left testie, 3 pound right testie, and my name is Turner Brown !.”

Non sense says, ” Oh thank god,

I thought you said ‘Turn around. ‘”

Little JACK A$$ goes into the kitchen where his mom is baking. He puts his hand in the flour and wipes it all over his face. He says, “Mami, look – I’m a white boy!” His mom slaps him in the face and says, “Go show your Papi.”

He goes to his Step-father in the living room and says, “Look Papi, I’m a white boy.” His child-support-collecting-custodial parent slaps him hard in the face and says, “Go show your grandmother.”

Then JACK A$$ goes into his grandmother’s room (errr Garage) and says, “Mira, Abuelita, I’m a white boy.” His grandmother slaps him in the face and sends him back to his mother.

His mother says, “See Pendejo, did you learn anything from that?”

To which JACK A$$ replies, “Sure did! I have only been a white boy for five minutes and I already hate you people south of the Taco Bell!”

  • Colt74

Outstanding WesCo/Muir game tonight! Thought Coach M was nuts for going for 2 and also for going for it on 4th and 5 on their own 40..but what do I know…LOL

And for the record ..so did 99% of the people in the stands. He shut us all up though. Salgado and Johnson had a great night! Congrats Bulldogs! Congrats to San Dimas too! Sounds like I missed a hell of a game!

    • WCDan

Colt 74, great to meet you last night, glad you enjoyed the game, that Muir team was no joke, bigger, faster, and more talented than our Bulldogs, but our boys played discipline ball and played with heart, they did not give in when things did not look so good. Those were some big calls that Maggiore made last night, It was actually 4th and 3 from the 28, I thought he was only going to do a hard count but he surprised everyone with that call, it was gutsy to say the least. I’ve seen him call plays like that in the past and usually it paid off with a key first down. It’s like he senses when his line is executing well, and takes the gamble. For better or worst, it’s entertaining to say the least.

      • Colt74

Dan, great to meet you too. I like meeting the bloggers and seeing others who are as passionate for their schools as I am for mine. I don’t think Muir was more talented. I just think that what we talked about, Noodles settling in at QB and not throwing the ball when in panic mode stopped some momentum. The guy is young but dangerous when he runs. When he’s just concentrating on being a back and not playing QB he is phenomenal. Agree that I first thought Coach M was just going for a long count to draw them off. I came to realize that Coach M has a mindset of “we are not going to lose the game ourselves..you are going to have to beat us”. I also just have to wonder if he owns a pair of pants..every time I have seen him he’s wearing shorts..lol. Props to your stands and your fans! Covina parents could take a lesson on being vocal and supporting their team. I bet that one dude leading the cheers on first downs will be without a voice for another couple of days! It was a great game and I’m happy to see “OUR” bulldogs advancing to La Serna.Good luck this week, looks like I’m driving up to watch San Dimas this Friday.

  • G-Stone128

  • hahaha

Oh did I mention we beat Amat… hahaha… You’re the biggest fool on. Here WARRIOR.Thank you MD…haha

  • Eric Reagan

this is so satisfying watching so-called experts picking Bishop Amat and Charter Oak or even San Marino as locks to win, but the players on the opposite sidelines threw up a big middle finger and said, “we decide games, not those of you who never played, nor can even fit into a uniform.”

    • 12th man

They want everyone to buy into the hype & pick with their hearts instead of their heads!!

  • New York

Congratulations to West Covina and San Dimas for staying focused and earning come from behind victories against strong opponents. Congratulations also to Charter Oak for a great season and going out to Rancho Cucamonga and playing tough.

It seems like Charter Oak shot themselves in the foot from the beginning by not leaving campus in time to deal with rush hour traffic…that is too bad. When you are such an underdog you need everything to go right. It seems like things were off from the very beginning.

Congratulations also to Charter Oak for not butchering their school colors the way Rancho has. The Rancho who won their first CIF title was Purple and Silver. It might seem petty, but I think embracing tradition on the football field is a good thing.

What a glorious weekend. First, of all, my Bruins kick the snot out of the Trojans, and it was a Bishop Amat
Alum by the name of Sheldon price who made it all happen with that final
    blocked field goal !!

Amazing, and yes, Covina dude, your correct, UCLA did stick it to them.

But, even with all of that, let us not forget what I said earlier to two of the most boastful and arrogant bloggers in here and that was this….

“At some point you WILL LOSE !!”

    So, to day I ask…..

Where are you Margarita Bill ?????

Where are you Warrior fan ???

I dont see the chatter ? I dont see the big talk ?? In fact, I dont even see either one of you two on here….anywhere ???

You guys gave up 53 points !! What was that all about ? Oh ya, and you did say you guys beat Amat, ya thats right, your only claim to fame, What a joke

    No sense forever…..
    Ha ha ha

Yes indeed, its a good weekend

What kick the snot? At one point it was 31-28 in the 4th qtr. Okay after winning 5 IN A ROW and winning 50-0 last Year, WELL THE WHIPPING IS GOT TO END SOME YEAR!..L.O.L…

      • jcaz

Ha ha, yes it does, and yes your right, a 50 to nothing score is REALLY a, “Wipping the snot out of someone,” LOL,

But in all honestly, it still feels good knowing that what was suppose to have been a number one ranking (at the beginning of the season), ends up where the AD is having to tell give the coach a “VOTE OF CONFIDENCE.”

Well, we all know what that means don’t we ?

JCAZ, i VOTED DOWN ON YOUR POST!HAHAH,,, This system is pretty cool! One more I forgot to add is, Baylor whipping Kansas, now that’s kicking the SNOT right out and their #1 RANKING#1 and goes for OREGON!

      • jcaz

BTW, I love this post, because it just goes to show you that we really need a playoff system and I mean, like right now !

  • BenDoverIE

CeeNooooo getting it done in the Inland Division. Not. The Sierra League needs to get bounced from the Inland Division. They are dragging us down.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

yeah they should be in the Central,

  • WC Bulldog Fan

What an awesome game WC Bulldogs had! Can’t wait until Friday to cheer you on against La Serna with all the Bulldog fans that sit at the stands at the 50 yd. line!
