Undefeated Walnut (7-0-1) hosts Los Altos (6-5-2) in boys soccer rematch and Hacienda opener today

Walnut has been one of the most impressive boys soccer teams over the holidays behind one of the school’s all-time great players and coach, Jerry Laterza. They’ve scored 25 goals and allowed just three and enter today’s Hacienda League opener with four straight shutouts, including a 1-0 victory over Los Altos in the championship of the Don Lugo tournament on Dec. 27. Now Los Altos gets its shot again at Walnut, only the stakes are higher. Los Altos, one of the pre-season league favorites, dropped its league opener to Diamond Bar 1-0 and can’t afford to drop to 0-2. We’ll be there today, check back for the story and video.
