After losing to St. Joseph’s 3-2 in OT, Bishop Amat girls soccer bounces back with 5-0 with over La Salle … Today’s schedule ready

Bishop Amat beats La Salle 5-0: The Bishop Amat High girls soccer team used a full-out sprint Thursday evening.

Bishop Amat sprinted out to a quick 1-0 lead and then sprinted by host La Salle for a 5-0 victory in Del Rey League play.

“We have been talking about stepping it up, and our speed up front was able to show that,” Bishop Amat coach Ruben Gonzalez said.

Bishop Amat (8-3-5), coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in its league opener, scored two minutes into the game off a corner kick. Yazmin Montoya sent a curving kick over goalkeeper Cassidy Rey’s head. The ball came down just inside the goal line, right at La Salle’s Riley Moran on the back post of the net. The defender tried to knock it out before the ball touched the ground, but the shot’s spin prevented that. Rey said she was tripped and could not jump for the shot.

Oh Shocker! Another story about Amat Soccer! Fred, stop. Amat is not what they used to be my friend. If they were 20-0 I could understand the love, but come on! Please take some time to do a story on one of the other teams in the valley that are kicking butt. How about going to a Diamond Bar game? They are playing lights out, undefeated in the Hacienda! How about Sierra Vista? Are they as good as past years? Are they going to run the table again in the Valle Vista League? I don’t know…because I’m reading stories about Friggin AMAT again! I would name a Sierra League team here, but we all know how you feel about the Sierra League, and rightfully so. They are the best league in our area by far! You give their schedule and results every single week! But there are girls who deserve to be covered. Not the same old stories about the same old teams year in and year out.

You mean like Los Altos and Charter Oak girls soccer, did that. You mean like Los Altos or Walnut boys soccer? Did that. You mean. You mean like St. Lucy’s-Sacred Heart girls soccer? Did that. Plus several others I didn’t cover. How about taking the time to pay attention.

And by the way, I’ll cover what gets the most blogs views. Do you cover a soccer game with 100 in the stands or just 10. You tell me.

Not sure what stories about Amat soccer you are reading, because I don’t remember seeing anything written about this teams performance against Div. 1 schools at the Mater Dei Tournament nor their Championship at the San Pedro Tournament this year. Amat has had a great 3 year run and we will see how this year develops.

Im sure if they were stories about other schools besides the usual ones they would get as many hits. We wont know until they start covering these schools. There is no doubt that I would like to know more about Diamond Bar, Sierra Vista, Charter Oak, etc. I guess that’s just wishful thinking. Either way im just excited to read anything about soccer no matter whay school it is.

Amat is a great team and deserves the praise they are getting. If you were at the game, you would’ve seen outstanding soccer played by Amat and a large amount of talent on the team. They are kicking but and deserve to be on this blog!!!

I agree they are a great team. I saw them play earlier in the season and they were good I could imagine how they look now with all players being cleared/injured free. I have also seen Charter Oak, South Hills, Los Altos, Sierra Vista, and Walnut play and these schools need as much recognition as any other school in the SGV. Ive said it before and ill say it again some of the best soccer players come out of the SGV.
