Sources: Former Damien football coach Greg Gano expected to be named head coach at Tustin High

Former Damien High School football coach Greg Gano is expected to be named the next head coach at Tustin High, possibly this week, sources say. Gano, who struggled to turn the Damien program around in four years as head coach after winning four CIF-SS titles at Los Altos, resigned as the Spartans coach in December. Gano reportedly turned down an offer to coach at Etiwanda in hopes of getting the Tustin job. Tustin was 12-1 last season, won the Empire League and advanced to the Southwest Division semifinals under longtime coach Myron Miller. Tustin won the Southwest title in 2011. Miller resigned after 18 years at the school, but remains as the school’s athletic director.
