WRESLTING: Northview wins 5-Counties Invitational; Ochoa, Valles score titles

Northview wrestling coach David Ochoa said this week that he believed the 2013 Vikings could be as solid a group as he’s had in 15-plus years at the Covina school.
Northview lived up to that bold statement Saturday, winning the 5-Counties Invitational at Fountain Valley High School. The annual event is considered the top tournament in the state, and a barometer for what might occur during next month’s CIF-Southern Section divisonal and Masters meets and the CIF State championships.
The Vikings had seven medalist, led by champions Eric Ochoa (113 pounds) and Daniel Valles (138). Bryan Salinas (171), Vince Parra (106) and Ricky Padilla (145) placed second, respectively, with Johnny Rivera (120) fourth and Tony Arellano (132) seventh.
