Boys Basketball Rankings: Chino Hills leaves no doubt who’s No. 1; Workman impressive 18-1

TRIBUNE BOYS BASKETBALL RANKINGS
1. Chino Hills (16-4) — Huskies made this decision easy by hammering previously No. 1 Damien, beating the Spartans by 31 points.
2. La Verne Lutheran (18-6) — Give them credit, they’ve won 11 straight against most quality competition. They’re not the state-champ type team they once were, but still very good.
3. Damien (15-3) — After a humiliating night at Chino Hills, the Spartans bounce back with a 78-45 trouncing on Sunny Hills in Monday’s MLK Classic at Los Osos.
4. Bonita (15-5) — They still own the Hacienda, proving it again Monday with a 51-46 win over Diamond Bar.
5. Glendora (15-5) — Could finish fifth in Baseline. They’re scary because they shoot a lot of 3s. And they’re unpredictable because they shoot a lot of 3s.
6. Workman (18-1) — My scouting report on the Lobos is they have size inside and shooters on the perimeter. They’re too good for the Montview, but what happens when the playoffs start.
7. Covina (14-5) — They’re hoping to win the Valle Vista League outright for the first time in a long time. This should be the year to finally do it.
8. Claremont (13-7) — Arguably the third-best in the Sierra after Chino Hills and Damien.
9. Rowland (13-6) — They were so good in December before the injury-bug hit. If totally healthy, they’re very dangerous.
10. Diamond Bar (10-9) — Lacking consistency. They have solid wins and many questionable losses.
