There was good and bad news for Bishop Amat Sunday.
The good was that the Lancers received the No. 1 seed in Division 1A when the CIF-SS released pairings for the girls basketball playoffs. But the Lancers, as an at-large team after finishing fifth in the Del Rey League, will open on the road, traveling to Katella in Saturday’s first round.
Bishop Amat was one of three area teams to receive a top five seed. The others were Diamond Ranch and Wilson, who received No. 5 seeds, respectively, in divisions 3AAA and 3AA. The Panthers will host San Bernardino, and Wilson will get Charter Oak, also at home.
Bonita, ranked No. 2 in the area all season, received the No. 7 seed in Division 2AA and will host Heritage on Saturday.
